Rashford’s contract runs for another 3.5 years and United owe him another 55 million fully guaranteed. People who think United are just going to snap their fingers and get rid of him don’t appear to understand football transfer markets. Unlike American sports where players can just get traded while under contract, in European football the player themself also has to agree to the transfer. And if Rashford doesn’t want to leave then United are stuck with him for years to come. And he’ll join the likes of Jones, Martial, Maguire, Lindelof, and Shaw who just have run down their contracts in past years. Not to mention who not only wants him on his wages but who actually wants him on his form at all?

Even by Rashford's terrible standards he was awful tonight and it's not as if United were playing anyone decent! Those who gave him 2/10 in the ratings were being very kind to him! You've got to laugh at the newspapers saying that United want to sell Rashford because of his lifestyle. So don't they mind that he's been poor for the majority of the last seven years and particularly terrible since February of last year? People say "Rashford's scored three goals in six games, so he's started quite well under the new manager" but let's get it right. One of those three goals was really an own goal and the other two were decent enough goals but they were from close range. How he actually played in those games is more significant and he was very poor against Ipswich after the first five minutes, did nothing from the bench against that pub side in the Europa, played OK in the main against the worst Everton side ever(although the fact he apparently scored twice yet still only got 7/10 in the ratings tells you it wasn't his best performance ever), he had a nightmare at Arsenal, he was pretty awful against Forest(hence the 4/10 in the ratings) and was a lot worse in tonight's game against a side that would struggle to beat Salford! People also say "Rashford was great in 2022-23 and he can be great again" but the truth is, although his scoring record looked good at the end of that campaign, in terms of performances, he was poor before the World Cup, good for the two months that followed the World Cup(mostly in cup games) and then terrible for the last few months of that season.
