I am almost exclusively a console gamer but I think mods are the single most important part of fan feedback. Mods show designers what changes and adjustments need to be made along with showing the passion that their content has created, pushing them with joy towards the next big game!

DreamcastGuy Exactly! I think the fov mod is a perfect example of that. It shows the devs that players want a better range for their fov. Not only do the mod designers help out players who want to have fun, but they can also teach Rockstar what can also work in a game.
@KouD3Graw9 жыл бұрын
DreamcastGuy Have you seen the mod where players can simulate rape in GTA Online cause of the PC Modding? There is always someone to fuck up the positive aspects of modding. This is GTA and some of these mods are turning it into Saints Row. The visual enhancements are great mods but, the civilians walking around with dicks out is the bad mods. We don't know how the game reacts to mods but, Rockstar does. NOW IF... this is a BIG IF, Rockstar could release GTA 5 without GTA Online connected to it than they might release the grip on the banhammer. GTA Online is Rockstars baby that they're raising for years to come. Rockstar don't want flying dicks shooting titties at players new DLC cars messing up their GTA Online Experience.

Turbid TG1 The thing is GTA mods are like hacks, they change the game in very minor or major ways. I agree have mods for single player mode but people being people (i.e. arsehats) will always bring them in to online mode for many reasons. Some want to just have fun, some want to lightly troll friends and some which is the over riding headache for R* is that to many people just want to be arseholes! If R* can find away to isolate the online players who want to play the game with out mods, that would be great, I doubt they ever could because of what I have said above. Player have to be responsible, but for every responsible person there is 100 asshats.

They feel more like I'm getting a friendly recommendation than listening to an ad. It really bothers me when content creators promote something just because they're getting paid to do so, so it's really refreshing that you're so genuine in advocating these companies. Also, I just love your stuff in general. Keep up the good work!
@effluviah75449 жыл бұрын
It's 3 AM over here in the UK right now, and I'm drunk as fuck, about to start watching this episode now, and I just wanna add some positivity to the comments section because everyone seems super heated over a bunch of stuff (which isn't bad! debate is important to have, I'm chill) and the important thing is that this is the definition of community. We're all here, bitching about stuff we care about, because we care enough to do so. We care enough to be here, the people making this content for us care enough to work extremely hard to start these discussions and share with us and give us a platform to add to the conversation, and discussion is an important part of community. So no matter how much we bitch and how much we might fuck with each other, and how rude it gets or whatever, there's always gonna be the downer people, and that's cool, people can do whatever, just don't be a serial killer or whatever. But overwhelmingly, we're all here because we enjoy games. That's what everything, no matter your opinions or feelings about any of it, comes down to: We like games, we share a common hobby or interest, and we're invested in things emotionally and as a business, and everything in between. Man, we all give so much of a shit, and that's pretty cool. Thanks for being cool, everyone at Funhaus, and thank you to all my fellow commenters (no, really! KZbinrs, Redditors, on the RT main site, everyone!) for engaging with each other and continuing to do so despite how rough comment sections can get and how prone the gaming community is to outright argument sometimes, because content and conversation are key to gaming culture. It's good to employ some Buddhist mindfulness type shit whenever things get super heated, or at least I do, because it reminds me that really when you think about it, this is all fucking amazing. People, either making the content or viewing it, are the heart of all the bullshit everyone here spends so much time on, and that's what makes the bullshit so fun and interesting and why it evokes such a response from people. It's what makes bullshit into not-bullshit, kind of. It's important, everyone's important, and it's important to hear every side of an argument or controversial event within the wider gaming community, because we are a community. It's been a vodka kind of night for me, so I don't know if this is making sense, but regardless of opinion or attitude, I like that we're all chillin' and watching shit. I know I sound like a hippy, but I'm right in that feel-good-drunk-spot, and you know what, I'm cool with hippies, too. I'm cool with everyone, fuck it. Because we all play games, we care. I know lots of people have lost their chill over a lot of things for a lot of reasons, and that's okay, as long as we can all talk it out and talk it over. Some people show up just to aggravate, and that happens everywhere all the time. Sometimes discussion can get skewed towards the biased, or things can get fucked up big time in any number of ways, people can be mean or rude, but that happens in everything ever. Don't get disillusioned, don't get too down or too negative. The community's so big, there's someone out there that is reading or watching or whatever and going, "Right the fuck on!" There's something for everyone, a conversation everyone can add something to, and that's cool as fuck. Discussion is so important, and hearing every opinion is important. TL;DR I'M WASTED, I LOVE EVERYONE. I LOVE GAMES. THE INTERNET IS COOL. WHAT'S UP EVERYONE I HOPE EVERYONE'S DOING A-OK

I got banned for changing a shader using the opened files from Alexander, I'd like to thank Rockstar for destroying 700+ hours of online gameplay just because I changed the hue of the single-player's output. All credits go to Rockstar, this comment is not owned by me in any way, please don't kill me mang. P.S. I bought 450 $ worth of in-game money so that I could have all the resources I needed to fly competitively in Online races (as I did on the Xbone for 290+ hours), my only real objective being to have a great win ratio, which would lead to near-coma inducing "close wins", being neck and neck in a race for me is like playing the violin with my large spinular nerve, which makes it all the more rewarding when I win. Excluding land and sea races, I'm something like 1240 wins to 90 losses. I don't cheat, i just love to fly planes - I'm the guy that tilts the plane gradually before hitting a checkpoint in order to avoid having an eratic flight path and always seems to fly .05 mph faster than you, speaking of which, tip: always hold back the throttle .5 degrees or so, except when ascending, then hold it back 4 to five degrees, loss in trajectory altitude is benign compared to jumping up pre-emptively in altitude. You see the shit I do to win, the pro-strats are real, and I still get banned, no looooooò-ooo-óooooove.

No, they shouldn't be. There, you can go home now. To be more detailed, I fail to see at all how mods affect rockstar's revenue. You buy the game, they get their money. If they have DLC or whatever, then you pay for that DLC. Mods have no impact on that. People might choose to not purchase DLC because they think mods add content and the DLC's pricetag isn't worth it, then that's our descsion as consumers. Rockstar disallowing mods to prevent competition is absolutely greedy and over the line, look at the US telecom system with internet service providers not providing competition.
@Asteinis9 жыл бұрын
Jabberwockxeno "I fail to see at all how mods affect rockstar's revenue." Well, If if I'm looking to expand upon a game and enjoy it more, I go for mods before I pay for DLC. Point being, if people can enjoy stuff more for free instead of paying money they most likely will. Now that I've whined about your falsehood, I will just go and say I don't think mods should be banned, just because I don't want them to be.
@MonsterTeegs9 жыл бұрын
Though I agree with your answer, your explanation I don't agree with. By your logic if I don't want to pay for something then I just steal it and that's okay. That's what you said when you mentioned DLC.
@ca20mn9 жыл бұрын
It's not greedy they will be losing money because people will make mods like the dlc and there would be no point to people already getting mods for the items rockstar gave to the people who previously purchased gta V and it ruins the whole pointing of rewarding them they have a right to stop and nothing we can say or do will change that right.

Mods can effect DLC because if there is a free mod for the same thing I a DLC Rockstar losses money.

I agree with you, Gta online is a mmorpg style game so of course they don't want mods that can grief the hell out of others and absolutely destroy the whole point of grinding/paying to get experience/money. I don't know why people are angry mods get you banned. They made their security check and its enough to keep modders out even with or without mods, they don't care.
@banhammer72439 жыл бұрын
Pudding Dashboard I don't think R* are doing it to undermine modders ability to earn some cash, they are doing it to protect the integrity of their online game. I have no interest in mods, gave up with mods back in the old days or Doom and Doom 2. If I go online and each and every lobby is populated by car/money firing weapons, whales failing from the sky and just general asshattery then that is my game spoiled, and if R* can't protect the majority of the players from a minority of modders/mod users then no one will be playing their games.
@Snowjob1099 жыл бұрын
Tim Whitehead I'm saying that rockstar only cares about keeping anything and everything out of GTA online that would give people a reason to not buy shark cards. They don't want people to be able to have fun or a satisfying experience without having to pay in game GTA cash to participate or enjoy it. Mods throw a wrench in that plan. That's the #1 reason why they're not allowing mods.
@banhammer72439 жыл бұрын
Pudding Dashboard I disagree. In what way is a gun that fires cars (as an example) stopping Rockstar from selling Shark Cards? Mod the game to drive and play as the Police, not a service Rockstar is selling or offered in game! The only reason to stop mods is that they spoil the integrity of the game, make it unbalanced, makes one person/ group of people over powered compared to none modders. Rockstar did very little, if actually anything to stop the modding community during GTA 4 becasue the game was not (to some degree) a persistent world. GTA Online has changed that, mods can and are effecting that. Therefore until some measure of compromise is found that protects the non-modders from the modders online mods will be nothing but trouble. Also people who have no idea what they are doing will also mess up their files/profiles then QQ at Rockstar to fix it becasue "I didn't use any mods. . . . .honest!" Rockstar do not want to spend time (=money) sorting out those issues.

the second you stop criticizing something like super hero movies is the second they stop putting as much care and effort into them. while we shouldnt expect oscar writing, we need to demand that these movies are written well and cohesively or the studios and writers wont feel the NEED to put the time and effort into doing it. so while these aren't "oscar" movies, we need to be responsible consumers and criticize them regardless. p.s. i liked the new avengers a lot too

Avengers: Age of Ultron is light years ahead of most of the superhero movies we had before Ironman. Everyone gets so salty now over Ironman 3 or Thor 2, but at least those movies aren't so bad that watching them is torture under the Geneva Conventions (Daredevil, Ang Lee Hulk, Dolph Lundgren Punisher, Stallone Judge Dredd, Batman and Robin). I for one think that Marvel is doing an excellent job. As a DC fan from way back, I have high hopes for their DC(C?)U, but Man of Steel....it was bad, ok? Don't make Man of Steel versions of Batman, Wonderwoman, and Aquaman. Please. Ban Zack "I don't understand why people love the Christopher Reeves Superman movies" Snyder from your studio.

Ben Houston Seriously, go watch Age of Ultron, Winter Soldier, or Guardians. Then, go watch 2003 Hulk or Affleck Daredevil. We have come a long way. Also, while I am a massive Batman and Joker fan, I feel that The Dark Knight gets too much praise. Had Heath Ledger survived, I feel that the movie wouldn't have been "Oscar-worthy." Ledger did give a brilliant performance, but the plot has holes the size of the Batmobile. The Joker's entire plan is based on a multitude of things that he has no control over or any idea that they will happen. The stack of money he burns is worth WAY more than what it is supposed to. Also, while the Clown Prince of Crime is a different breed of villain, it is very doubtful that the same character who robbed a bank to pay for the material to make a new suit, plus hiring goons, plus weapons and vehicles, would burn billions (trillions if you look at the size of the stack) of dollars just because. Also, Batman growly voice? Why? In all honesty, I love TDK trilogy. I'm just saying that comic book movies didn't "peak" with The Dark Knight. If anything, we have yet to see the true peak (JLA and Infinity Wars will likely be major contenders for that prize). Sorry for the long spiel. I am a comic book and movie nerd who likes to discuss either topic at great length.
@YaoMingus9 жыл бұрын
***** I agree with your comment about the whole Dark Knight/Heath Ledger and as a different conversation, I also want to say that I am actually really excited to see this new Joker in action. Just because the Joker is portrayed differently from how we are used to him in the movies, doesn't mean he will be bad. I want him to be good and I want everyone who was angry about the look to eat their words.
@Jryan959 жыл бұрын
Tom Johnson I'm less concerned with Jared Leto's look and more concerned with David Ayer's terrible storytelling. Fury was garbage. I'm afraid DC is trying to use Suicide Squad as an early "flop" to increase the draw factor of their next films. This is not a new technique, but they are doing it with characters I greatly care about.

I get where you guys come from when you say "$60 back then is very different to $60 now" with games being a standard $60 price tag BUT HERE'S WHERE YOU'RE WRONG (caps for comical effect, not being mad) Consumer size. Yes $60 back then is worth more now...but back in the 80's gamers were a select few "weird kids" or 12 year olds and it was seen as generally bad thing to be gaming. Now the market is fucking HUUUUGE compared to back then. So much so that triple A games like Battlefield, COD and GTA can rake in BILLIONS...BILLIONS!!! Even indie games made by some fat dude during his spare time can land him a multimillion dollar mansion (Minecraft) So I don't know where you're coming from saying $60 isn't enough for developers when they're more successful than ever
@MrBlack-qb5tp9 жыл бұрын
TheMrSealclubber The thing is these days there are continued costs for a company even after the game is sold as far as servers, personnel to update and patch said game and continued advertising. Also when it comes to consoles especially used games are bigger than they ever were with so many different options of where to buy them and back then there were very few places outside of a garage sale or maybe a video store to obtain them. My point being games may be more popular but it doesn't always show because individuals are buying and selling used games more than ever effectively cutting out continued profits for developers.

I don't comment that often. But I thoroughly enjoy your dusscussions. The fact you gents are branching out and not affraid to talk about so many different topics, not just video games. I love the recent work keep up the awesomeness funhaus.

The only thing i can add to the superhero conversation is that black widow does have "powers" per se, she's genetically modified and generally on par with steve in that sense, and i know that was something else people got really mad about when it came to her backstory and how it's played out in the movies vs the comics

at about 5:40 Lawrence mentions that you guys are just background noise for somone grinding away at Destiny. I'm not gonna lie, I use the podcasts as just that. I like listening to stuff while I multitask either with homework or on social media. DudeSoup is by far the best thing that i've listened to while doing other things. If there's an interesting subject I'll stop what I'm doing and pay attention to the podcast but most of the time it is just background noise. They're always great to listen to, and keep up the good work FunHaus

Its always great to hear opinions from people who know a decent about the topic. People these days don't do enough research into a topic before forming an opinion. Thank you for doing research and having a level headed debate about topics.

"Don't defecate my car." - Adam 2015 I believe you intended to say "desecrate", as to treat with disrespect, not "defecate" as to relieve one's bowels. Unless I am drastically mistaken about what was in that coffee, in which case I am truly sorry, Adam. No one deserves that.

I know you guys explained the reasoning behind the podcast only being an hour, but if there was enough fan outcry would you ever consider making it longer? I'd love for everyone to be able to discuss every topic in equal, and get their opinions out to the best of their ability :)

The mods should be another feature added to social club where consumers can upload them just like custom playlists, I'd be happy to pay for a "season pass" for mods if that would be enough to let us just enjoy the game that I've purchased 3 times, and great podcast again guys!
@gemmabrettx9 жыл бұрын
As far as the Age of Ultron discussion goes, I'd say that I can definitely still enjoy a movie or form of entertainment whilst also recognizing its flaws. Personally, I thought that (spoilers) Black Widow's confession that she feels like a monster for not being able to have children was a little messed up. I still greatly enjoyed how she got a back-story in the movie and that her character was expanded beyond the 'femme fatale' trope whilst being a bit pissed about her own ""flaw"" that marks her as a monster is her inability to bear children. Whilst many people may be seen to be attacking Whedon for this I think it's important for people to discuss and for it to be brought to the media's (at least social media's) attention.

Hey guys, I love these podcasts! I have a question though: If you have spoilers, could you maybe mention some timestamps in the description where the spoiling stops? So people can skip to that timestamp if they don't want to hear the spoilers (even if it goes on till the end)

The simple fact that the Avengers movies find a way to incorporate the level of comedy into an action movie like this is purely genius. I don't think there is a single person that didn't laugh when Stark said sorry when he pissed the Hulk off.

The vision and the asimov twins (who are actually the crimson witch and quicksilver) are characters of the comic book avengers and since they're slowly filling the team the introduction of their characters is inevitable and im pretty sure the vision's idea of humanity is directly taken from said comic book

Also, the best villains have aspects of their character that you relate to. A "Biblical virtue" if you will (something like desire to help, selflessness, love, generosity, etc.) It doesn't redeem their actions, but it does make you understand their point of view. My favorite example of this in recent games is Anarky in Arkham Origins. But I digress. Loved the conversation in this episode! Always look forward to some Dude Soup!

This is the first podcast you guys have made that I turned off early since you first started posting podcasts on some other channel you apparently used to work with. This is only because I have not seen Avengers: Age of Ultron yet and don't want it to be spoiled. I do want to say thank you to you guys for doing spoiler-free discussion where you chose your words carefully and then gave the spoiler warning before you got into all of the details. Never missed a video from you guys since I started watching in Feb last year, keep bringing the laughs and good times, you're the best.

For what it's worth, Fallout 3 is another game with the same "no mod/decompile/whatever" clause in its EULA, yet modding is pretty much officially supported with the GECK. It either means don't disassemble the executable itself, or it's just a basic, rarely-enforced statement just to cover their asses in case anything bad was to come from it.

Lawrence made a great point about the game's image. GTA was on a local news station recently because a girl got online and, as part of a mod, her character was sexually assaulted by another player. Imagine people that watch local news and their impression of the game after seeing that story.

On Adams Point @ 15:15 even though it is a generalized statement, I never cared about what Funhaus crew uploaded in terms of content, I've always watched because I really enjoy the personalities they each bring and I wish I could do more for the community but just by liking and watching every video they're in I think I'm doing the minimum.
