I'm a solo father and I don't allow anyone I'm dating around my child, or know where I live. If a scorned woman wants to attack you it will be through your child- that's why you don't let them know where you live or meet your child. You can date someone- but I'd give it a minimum of a year of your boundaries being respected before you even consider allowing your child to meet them. As parents we protect our children, nurture them- and know that as solo fathers our choice of women may not be the best, so we do right for our children and keep things separated.

Averages and outliers. I would just say if you have lived enough life and are a decent judge of character it would depend on the relationship you are seeking and the lady you are dating. No casual hookup needs to meet your kids. But, if she has lots of green flags and a LTR is what you both want a slow introduction seems more appropriate. Maybe a casual outing introducing her as a friend. Being mindful of the child(ren) and the pros and cons.

You need to disabuse yourself of that egalitarian mindset. A childless woman marrying a single dad is NOTHING like a single mom marrying a childless man. It's a completely different dynamic. For one, in both cases the man is carrying the bulk of the financial load most of the time. For two, being a mother comes naturally to women whereas men usually only take on a parental role if its in their own interest. That's why childless women get a bunch of cats but single dudes don't do that. We are simply built differently. Last, when it comes to discipline, men are simply more fair and objective whereas women will almost always be biased in favor of her own children. Again, it's just how we're built as a species. I cast no judgments but you cannot deny the consequences.

Every situation is different. I have dated two single dads (first one was when I had no children and second one when I had one child). I can tell that It's no easier for women to date a single dad (baby mama drama, child acting bad and you should just shut your mouth about that etc). All childless women should go for childless men. If a single father’s child “will always come first”, then he is a lesser, inadequate partner. Point blank period. Any marriage counselor, family counselor, or pastor will tell you that the partner/spouse must come first to present a healthy example of relationships for the children and to ensure appropriate order within a household. Teaching children that the world revolves around their wishes and needs is crippling them, putting them at a disadvantage when it comes to being prepared for the real world, and failing to teach them how to self-soothe. In this different scenario, the woman won’t have to deal with drama from the ex wife and she is getting the resources from him to have her own children. It's a bit hypocritical for a single father to automatically disregard a woman just because she's a single mom. A single parent period comes with potential red flags that need to be evaluated, regardless of whether it's a man or woman. There might be a crazy baby mamma around the corner when dealing with single dads just like there could be a crazy baby daddy around the corner when dealing with single moms. Unless a single dad is incredibly successful, he ain't landing a single high value woman that doesn't have kids in toe and should stick to his lane of dating single moms.

It most definitely isn't the same both ways, and there are WAY more risks for a man dating a single mom vs a woman dating a single dad. I know a few guys who were single dads and married single moms. Somehow they made it work. Idk if it'll last in the long run but I'm sure there's MANY compromises made and that goes unspoken. Yeah it Seems like 80% of women over 20 have a kid(s) so that could mean there might be 50% of men that have a kid somewhere, or have multiple to the women with multiple children so how women think they can choose a depleting pool of men is beyond me. When I was dating a single dad he and his ex got into a fight over him not going to see his kids, he had moved out of state( to date a woman who ended up dying after surgery). He hadn't seen this kids in 2 years, so baby mama stopped allowing him to talk with them. I told him I would move with him back to his state or suggested the kids could come visit here. We lived together. He refused. His answer was too start drinking and acting depressed. I told him to get counseling he refused and instead got verbally abusive taking every thing out on me. Eventually I had to kick him out and our engagement ended. Another issue we had is we were trying to save up for a home which was way harder because $500 a month went to child support. Neither of us were rich. Another single dad his ex stole the car during our date, stranding us. She also gave me death threats because she wanted him back. One single dad I ended up supporting him because all his money went to child support. He also refused to let me see the kids - cause you know you're kids can meet every tom,dick and harry out in the rest of the world but god forbid they meet the person you're dating because you have to "protect them" Bottom line no more single dads. They are just as many problems as baby mamas

Totally disagree. I got trapped with kids. All the single mums I've met want to treat the man like another kid even if the woman/mum is immature and childish. What's wrong with me or any other man wanting a woman with nokids of her own who doesn't want her own or will forgo that to join me on my journey? Someone isn’t automatically a troll with invalid points just because they say something you don’t want to hear. Dating single parents is an extremely stressful, taxing experience for both genders. No new woman wants to come second to your child with someone else or feel we’re missing out on excess time, resources, memories, and availability because your kid is hogging it all.
