Should star citizen be more like a theme park MMO?

One of the big reasons I enjoyed responding to player beacons (Rescue, Transport, etc), was that I could leave my theme park ride and join someone else's for a little bit in an organic, emergent fashion.

I hope a lot of the stuff they have been doing is placeholders and ways to test out tech in "the wild." And that is possible. Having actual dynamic stuff that matters in-world is not really possible at the moment. But having different NPC factions being in conflict with each other, with several star systems, and it would be possible that an underlying "strategy game" would spawn an NPC mission into another system, which the players could assist or counter. But that is still far into to the future.

I would say I really enjoy sc for its story but I want more sandbox features

There is nothing to say you can't walk out of the themepark and play in the sandbox.

That's a good point, High sec systems could be more theme park, with low sec more sandbox survival

Sandbox all the way! I don’t even like how structured missions are already. Repeating the same old game design is not what anyone should want. That why I find the neanderthal ‘gib PVP’ clowns so ridiculous. They are the ones playing the wrong game. SC needs to be chess, not checkers.

I feel the same way but players are always saying SC has no content, I just think CIG need to tie the gameplay loops together better

Theme park MMO? So you mean more arcade then they are already making it? Thanks but NO THANKS! We are already moving so far away from the initial plan that Chris sold us on its no where near as top quality as he claimed. Last thing we want is another generic table top game with little to nothing based in the real world!

Its a interesting balance because I think the players want it to be more player driven but so many still complain it has no content
