Thank you all for your amazing opinions on the matter! It seems like most of you agree with me that this hangman must remain where it is and that a Haunted House is a place for well...death! Keep commenting, I read all of it!

@storiesfromthemansion4387 .... No they do not need to remove it keep it in there it hurts no one after all your in a haunted mansion and Death is part of a haunted house... if your bothered by seeing a hanging man then ignore it and don't look up or don't go to the Haunted Mansion. don't ruin the attraction for other fans of the Haunted Mansion.

It's The Haunted Mansion, it needs to be spooky and stay spooky. So the hanged man needs to stay and his demise needs to stay self-inflicted, it fits the Ghost Host's narration. Cutting out the hanged man would require cutting the down the narration and nobody wants to lose any of Paul Frees' perfectly diabolical performance.
@TherealRNOwwfpooh Жыл бұрын
They already have butchered it to a degree. Bits & pieces of small talk leading out of the Stretching Room to the Doombuggy platform has been removed, the dialog referencing the trapped living skeleton in The Conservatory's coffin (Ghost Host: "All our ghosts have been dying to meet you. This one can hardly contain himself." Edgar the Raven: "You've disturbed a guest. CAW! CAW! You'll be sorry for that!") has been deleted, and the lead-up to Madame Leota (Ghost Host: "Perhaps Madame Leota can established contact. She has a remarkable head for materializing the disembodied.") has been cut out, too.

Nope, the ghost host has been hanging there for over 50 years and needs to remain and it's an important part to the story as well, it's the haunted mansion not the enchanted Tiki room it's supposed to be scary and if people are too sensitive then just don't ride it, simple!

I'll stick by the fact that if you feel like you need to skip the scene. There should be a way to skip the scene maybe through the Covid Era Stairs. But removing it for everyone should not be the option the Imagineers take... :( Can't wait to comment again, When I finish this video :D

I agree, this generation takes sensitivity too far. All stories, movies, etc. need a villain to make things interesting. It also, helps the good person to become stronger. The Haunted Mansion is an iconic attraction at all Disney Theme Parks, that embodies scariness, but in a family-fun way. The hangman should stay, as it is part of the ride.
@storiesfromthemansion4387 Жыл бұрын
I agree, it should stay.

I totally think you are right about everything in this video! I want villains with evil plots to return. Good stories need good villains! Disney needs to bring back the magic Walt Disney and those who founded it started with including imaginative new movies with good villains. Ghost are all about mystery, the supernatural and death. That needs to stay a part of the Haunted Mansion in my opinion.

Keep in mind that this concern for "sensitivity" is partly because, in this VERY highly litigation happy age, one must be aware that at any time, anyone can sue saying that their psyche was damaged by an exhibit.

100% u are right. I'm sick and tired of seeing n hearing sensitive this and that. These are things that make a interesting story and mystery. Stop ruining things for the rest of us seriously

I agree in another ride the pirate ride they changed the Auction scene from the sale of women to food and drinks and animals .....and switching some of the pirates chaseing women in a circle so they added food to the women being chased...so it looks like the pirates want the food not women....the life of a pirate back in those days may have been bad..but it was how life was back then.......them wanting to change things in any of the Disneyland rides and remove them because you have critics who can't stand it and cater to them is stupid. they might as well hide under the covers in bed... they should not remove the hanging man from the haunted mansion......just do not go on the ride if it bothers you..
@sindoreipony Жыл бұрын
I agree with you. Also has me wondering if they go through with changing the hanged man scene with that end up leading to another revamp of the attic or would it be a weird thing of self inflicted death being not okay but at the hands of another being fine to show.

They should not remove him but maybe fix him. In Phantom Manor, there was a phantom that killed the guy similarly. If you want to keep the black widow bride, they can use her in the same way as Paris did in the Phantom Manor, or if want to do more of the black cat since they're starting to show hints of him again, they can use the skeletal monster vision of the spirit that posses the cat and do the same thing. It might fuse the Ghost Host and the cat into one being but it will at least fix the problem without getting rid of the problem if you know what I mean. Any thoughts?

@TherealRNOwwfpooh Жыл бұрын
@@phantomology13 Plus, it provides reasoning for the Phantom (suddenly minus the hangman's noose now, it seems, due to suspected sensitivity issues, which is ridiculous, since this is a HAUNTED HOUSE where THE SPIRITS OF THE DEAD REAWAKEN to ironically liven things up & the overall story was devised as a European tragedy of lost love set in the Gold Rush era of the North American Old West due to a merger between the European's fondness for the United States of America's Western frontier glory days in collaboration with the knowledge that the antebellum plantation house in New Orleans Square at Disneyland wouldn't be scary enough for European tastes [after all, Europeans were the ones writing the originally GRIMM fairy tales that the Disney company's adapted into saccharine musicals with happy endings aplenty with practically all of the graphic violence from these morality fables meant to scare disobedient children into behaving properly either outright removed or otherwise severely toned down] which is why the European audience duly expect their version of the Haunted Mansion -- in this case, Phantom Manor, which resembles the _Psycho_ house by design -- to be much scarier than the American versions to fit in with their cultural sensibilities, meanwhile the Victorian gothic style of both the Florida & Tokyo Haunted Mansions are already what the real-life cemeteries throughout Europe that are above ground genuinely look like, so Phantom Manor not only needed to make itself stand out in contrast to the local graveyards, but also, thanks to the international crowds Disneyland Paris has over all other Disneyland theme parks [sans maybe Tokyo Disneyland, but that's mostly because Disney's not even really in charge of the Japanese's official Disney-branded theme park itself, the Oriental Land Company is, which is how it's able to make all of the stunning rides & other attractions ii does that make many American upset that we don't have these well-crafted experiences stateside by comparison], Phantom Manor needed to visually "scream" haunted house, which was lead Imagineer Tony Baxter's justification for allowing Phantom Manor's developers to intentionally ignore Walt Disney's original edict of maintaining a clean outer image for the neighborhood spook house, "We'll take care of the outside & let the ghosts take control of the inside" or something to that effect) to remain in the Stretching Room even without Melanie having a current suitor once all 5 of her prior fiancées had all met with untimely ends befitting their names (for two examples, there's Sawyer Bottom [saw mill worker cut in half] & Barry Claude [clawed by a bear], although every one of them are now buried in a collective crypt together, with Barry's skeletal hand reaching out, as if to accept Melanie's proposal in the hereafter) that were more than likely ways to get rid of them concocted by the cackling Phantom to keep Melanie from ever leaving, seeing as how the long-standing theory of worst father ever Henry Ravenswood coming back from beyond the grave as the Phantom was finally made canon in the 2018 refurb. That said, if Henry can come back for vengeance as the Phantom, where's his own wife Martha at to come back & halt his attempts at ruining their daughter's chances at ever-lasting happiness?

The hanged man should remain… the Haunted Mansion will necessarily deal with some dark material. But I disagree that no updates should ever be made on account of changing sensibilities. It’s a case by case kind of issue. I think changing the auction scene, where women were literally being sold as sexual property, is very different from getting rid of, say, drunken pirates. Likewise, pulling back from cringe racial stereotypes is a good idea. It’s a matter of balance. Nostalgia isn’t a good reason to preserve an out-of-date element.
@TherealRNOwwfpooh Жыл бұрын
Not really. Real world pirates, even the female ones like Anne Bonnie, did RAPE, PILLAGE, PLUNDER & LOOT ("Drink up, me hearties. Yo ho!"), so the sexist, seedy nature of their actions is HISTORICALLY ACCURATE and shouldn't be ignored just because the world's trying to be more sanitized thanks to "cancel culture" run amok.
@idelanxy10 ай бұрын
also, i think changing the jungle cruise was needed and i will explain why using the same format i did in my previous comment :) the jungle cruise is a funny, family ride which’s topic is: adventure and the jungle. now, going forward, i should clarify that i am a white woman whose older sibling is of half native american descent. i do not have a place talking about the african tribes in different versions because i will never know what it feels like to be black. while talking about the depictions of the natives, my evidence is coming from my native brother’s experiences. i will never know what it’s like to be native american, only he does. we all know that racism and racial stereotypes are bad, we learn that at a young age if it’s at home, school, sports practice, etc. yes, the attraction came out in the 1960’s and they had different views at the time. even though it’s completely unacceptable, it’s a time capsule of a sort. but it gets even worse when you have these stereotypes in an attraction and the years pass and popular views change and a variety of different people come to the parks. imagine you’re a boy with undiagnosed autism in his early teens who was just told by some random guy that he’s your dad and that’s why you look so different from your blonde little sister, you’re half native american. you’re really upset by it, so you go to disneyland with your mom and your siblings because it’s your escape from the cruel world. you go on jungle cruise and have to sit through a ride in which it’s depictions of natives are mocking, negative, and dangerous, the skipper noting that trader sam trades heads. you don’t do that?! stepping out of this fantasy, you see that these stereotypes are incredibly outdated, but they are also unnecessary when depicting the jungle theme of the ride. The other problem is that the ride is RIDDLED with these stereotypes and has multiple scenes containing them.

I am 1000% agreed with your points. Disneyland is for all . . . but that doesn't mean that every square inch has to be for every single person ever. "You can satisfy everyone sometimes, and you can satisfy at least some people all of the time, but you can't satisfy all of the people all of the time." Death is a fact of life, and I hate that Americans at least (speaking as one myself) have gotten so skittish and stupid about it. And yes, as a sufferer of Major Depressive Disorder who has lived with suicidal ideations for decades, suicide is a serious topic and some whimsical depiction wouldn't be justifiable . . . but as you said, it's part of the story being told. It's not whimsy or even insensitive. I have to admit that I understand, but at the same time ABSOLUTELY HATE, the changes made to Pirates. But sorry . . . changes to Haunted Mansion, including (especially??) removing the Ghost Host's corpse? FLAT. OUT. NO. You don't wanna see anything having to do with death, DON'T GO TO A HAUNTED HOUSE ATTRACTION.

I'm all for political correctness, but I don't see the hangman as being offensive to mental health issues. As the Ghost Host says, it's his "way out" of a room that literally has no exits. That being said, at no point does he ever actually say the specifics out loud. So if they can find something else that works, the iconic narration could remain in place.
