Let's give him a shot. He is elite as a fielder and has been productive offensively especially on the base paths. The Nats are not the Yankees or Dodgers payroll wise, nor do they have the productive minor league systems that other contenders have. They won't have all-star caliber players at every position like the teams with unlimited resources. Young between Crews and Wood is more than solid for a team like the Nats for at least the next year. Fans have to be realistic about what this team can be not what we want them to be because the Lerner's don't appear to want to revisit being a big market budget organization.

Question: if Robles was the CF on the WORLD series winning 2019 team and Young is a better hitter, center fielder and waaaay better baserunner than Robles, how can you possibly say Young is not the CF of a playoff team? He’s EXACTLY what we need.

You can only have 1 player that is a glove 1st player. I am still not sold on CJ abrams defensively at SS. As a 3rd year player he making too many mistakes that we just can't have.

The Nationals were putting fear into the league earlier in the year when players were running wild. Cj was dominant. Ryan seems to heavily undervalue the power of speed. Young should start batting leadoff. Nazim deserves the chance to play until somebody else shows they are better. Rizzo drafted him for a reason. Ozzie Smith wasn't a Hall of Famer initially either.

Good show Ryan! I’m hoping our young guns can come back in 2025 and perform more consistently. Certainly in the middle of the season they were all playing great. Given their potential, I would see how they do through midseason and then rent a starter for the playoff run if necessary. It seems we need a big bat the most. 🤷🏼♂️

I kept visualizing Robert Hassell III at CF eventually, but if Young can maybe improve his hitting just a little more (and it seems he will), they might have to find anther place for Hassell.

I don't understand your take on young at all. So you're asking if our center fielder for the next three to five seasons will play elite elite defense, bat .280, steal 40 to 50 bags, as the nine hitter? Sign me up. You act as if he is fully developed. You will never have a roster of nothing but stud all stars. Look at the dodgers and Astros, they value defense and are loaded with guys like Jacob, surrounded by three super stars. I have zero problem if for the next three years our outfield is wood, young, crews. I actually find that exciting

JY in CF has been way more consistent than SS Abrams. If we're committed to Abrams we should be committed to JY!!

Jacob Young is way to valuable of a utility piece to not be on the roster. Every day player, maybe not.
