Honestly, I don't understand why bio-engineering would ever be useful in any sort of military application. You'd need either time to train them ( _which makes them inferior to normal soldiers_ ), methods to control them ( _which are likely to be damaged, sabotaged or just plain fail_ ), or ways to end them ( _which considering they never do long-term studies, means that further mutations are highly possible, leading to the creatures running out control_ ). On top of that, they often insult, pressure, backstab or sabotage the people doing the research, meaning that the researchers have even LESS reason to do the project correctly.

Overblood isn't an RE clone because the development studio had already made Doctor Hauser on the 3DO before RE even came out. Overblood is more of an Alone in the Dark clone with a sci-fi twist and a greater focus on character interaction and Overblood 2 is so absurdly ambitious that it doesn't even fit conveniently into a regular genre and verges on being a fully 3D immersive sim with a cyberpunk aesthetic running on the PS1 and before Deus Ex even came out. It also made all of the characters British for some reason.

Characters prance around so much it seems almost purposefully comedic. Thanks for this review, much appreciated! The PS1 and PS2 library has a lot hidden gems and rarely talked about games, that are the trademark of an era when game developers and publishers were not averse to risk and experimentation, and that's something sorely missing today.

Spoilers Alright, I just got to the part where Millie was revealed to be a clone, and while I didn't call that I was on the clone trail but only because I thought the man watching all this unfold on the cameras is actually Raz and the one we know is a clone of the scientist. Now I'm not convinced that isn't true yet, especially because the concept of clones has just been verified to exist in this world. I did just get a crazy thought though and no way can it be the actual twist, but I think somehow Pipo is also Millie and it's that memory chip that holds her consciousness. Just the fact that the clone we know also has the original's memories, well it made me think how that might work. One option might be that this clone was made at a time when Original Millie (OM for short) was still alive and so could have had her brain copied over to Clone Millie (CM for short) when she was created. I get the feeling though it was more like at some point OM had her brain scanned, ended up dying, then in his grief Raz created CM and uploaded the stored memory to her. Maybe the exact order of events are different but the important part is her memory is saved somewhere. Even in that first option at somepoint OM must have had her brain scanned and if it coukd be copied and transferred to the clone it could be copied to other things. I think her consciousness exists in Pipo's memory chip meaning Pipo was just Millie inside a robot body. I haven't seen much attraction between CM and CR (clone Raz) but knowing most media, they like each other or end up falling in love, y'know the usual. Probably because the originals were in love and why OR is obsessed with CM, so obviously the clones will be attracted to each other and Pipo loved CR enough to sacrifice themselves to save him. I think CM might do the same at some point but then CR finds out what the memory chip holds and saves her by the end. Absolutely batsh*t theory but I'm calling it now based on very little evidence, my knowledge of tropes, and a gut feeling. Also, another weird theory, there's more Raz clones and the first clone stayed a mutant. CM didn't cure him, she just woke up a different clone. Idk, once you introduce clones theres just so much shenanigans that can be done. Edit: lol I paused the video as soon as you said "bet you didn't see that coming" and now CM just confessed her love for CR or Billy whatever his actual name is. And yeah the man in the shadows it definitely the original "Raz".

Back in the 90s I didn’t own a PlayStation (I was firmly on Team Nintendo) but back then you could rent one from Blockbuster/Hollywood etc. and I rented this game a few times along with the console. Thing is though - I didn’t own a memory card so I had to play through on ONE LIFE which you can imagine is ridiculous with all the unfair trial by error insta-death mechanics. The furthest I made it was the part with the train and of course I got ran over and proceeded to shout curses and toss the controller in frustration. Even still this game stuck with me all these years - something about the atmosphere and the eerie ambient music really made an impression on my teenage self. I still use “Raz” as my character name or gamer handle occasionally all these years later… ☺️

I played this with my friend when we were teenagers and several Resident Evils had already come and gone, so we were aware it was of dubious quality but also had a lot of camp value and found it pretty funny. I rented the sequel and took it to his house but it's a totally different game, in genre and how it plays - it's way more of an action adventure than a survival horror and has more modern 3D controls with floatier jumping. It feels like a surprising amount of money went into it but it wasn't released outside Japan and PAL areas, plus the PAL version apparently had a game breaking bug that would crash the game at certain door 100% of the time. My friend and I didn't reach that area though because we were expecting something way more schlocky and gave up after a couple of hours.

Pipo's the bestest bot! 🫡🥹 Fun coincidental fact: "Pipo" means "beanie" in finnish. _Now I can never dress up for winter without getting Pipo flashbacks again._

It’s even funnier when something completely. obliterates him…like the giant fan…and we still get that full-lunged scream before the death tune sounds 😂

Damn, it's so frustrating that people say it's resident evil clone. As a programmer it's totally different game engines and considering the games were released in a same year there is no way it's the clone. The story is very good, the game mechanics are amazing for the time, overall the game have a very unique experience. This combat mechanics are very ambitious for the time. Sad that this game did not receive attention. Thanks for review, I didn't know about this awesome game. As for Raz is looking similar to Barry, I think those are coincidence. It seems they had a little experience with character designs and textures, all in game seems plain and simple. And yeah, Barry face is really simple and easy to make.

Yeah I think it definitely had the misfortune of being released so close to RE. That gave it a really big name to live up to and most of the reviews back then slammed it essentially for not being RE. It was definitely ambitious though!

You've got both a great sense of humour and timing that makes your reviews of this iconic 90s gem so amusing to watch. Both you and your channel content certainly has the potentials to blossom, especially with the direction and way you approach the obscure/classic forgotten games you love to discuss.

So far I've seen this and your Agony video, and honestly, you immediately shot up to my top 5 gaming channels. I'd definitely put you up there with Matt McMuscles, Stop Skeletons From Fighting, Civie11, and Tangomushi. Your videos check every box for me. You do deep dives into offbeat, weird, and cult classic games, and you have perfect comedic timing, you strike this perfect balance of being informative and being hilarious. You're amazing! I can't wait to see the rest of your videos.

Holy crap....for years I was looking for this game but couldn't remember what it was called. I beat this shit as a kid when it came out. Omg the memories, glad I found you through the random algorithm

When I was a kid a classmate gave me this game. Say whatever you want, but starting the game by throwing protagonists into panic enduring survival situation was a great choice! I forgot the name of the game and had troubles finding it as an adult. But that intro sequence was forever in my memory. Silent Hill 1 intro was spoilered to me. And Resident Evil 3 wants that scary. Maybe because i always feel safe when cool girl like Jill was in charge. 😎 But here you just wake up with amnesia in a cold silent room and then you protagonists starts dying from cold and you have NO IDEA what to do. I love it! But then again I didn’t get far in this game so ofcourse as a child I didn’t experience it’s highs and lows fully. Thank you for the review!
