Well, Ragnarok is probably not being made by Wildcard. The story maps are, but if Center is anything to go by, a third party is doing it and it is probably delayed. Then again, the third party did not do a very good job with Center, so I would not be surprised if it comes out half-assed. So far, the only good looking, well-done maps are the ones made by Wildcard herself. Center was so bad looking I stopped playing. All the caves had messed up shadows and light. Felt like I was being flash-banged. Everything was grainy and low quality.

After The Center, I don't think Wildcard is just going to let third parties half ass the maps. Ragnarok is way too important, the playerbase will revolt if it seems lacking. They'll either finish it in-house or delay it if needed or both.

Between Ab and rag you have probably 60%-70% of the ASE playerbase’s favorite maps (until Fjordur that is). These next few releases are extremely important for the game, so I really hope these don’t flop.

Right now there are only 3 official maps out. Island/Center/Scorched... not the most popular maps in ASE. MANY ASE players love Abberation so we'll see how that release goes. I know quite a few still playing ASE because ASA doesn't have enough variety for them yet. They are waiting for Ab and/or Ext. So how WC handles Ab and the Unreal upgrade will have a big impact on the state of ASA. As for Rag. It was a favorite map for MANY players in my old cluster. I've heard some say that they'd consider ASA a failure if Rag flops or doesn't come out on ASA. But. All we can do is wait... and hope. At the end of the day, company ethics and politics aside. We feel so strongly because underneath everything... we LOVE Ark. We all want it to succeed. And so... we hope. Good luck survivors.

I think we’ll see a big shift ext comes out because by that time, there will already be a decent amount of maps out, and ext allows for farming for tek bps and element a lot easier as well. Can’t speak towards the pve community but as a pvp player, I know things are gonna get crazy once ext drops.

I see this mentioned very often, but was ASE faster when it released? I got into this by Crystal Isles, but I don't think so. Also, not a popular belief, but I think that the speed they release maps is crazy fast. 4 maps in less than a year? I know that they don't build them from scratch, but ignoring the development side, as a player I can't keep up. Center released when I had barely completed Scorched Earth, and Aberration will release way before I complete Center. They may release Ragnarok and Extinction in two or three months, but by then I'll still be with Aberration.

I quit and went back to ASE and said I'd come back when Ab drops. But the big issue is the mod situation. I can't compete with other players unless I spend stupid cash on mods and precious storage space on more garbage mods that are mostly useless unless you're exclusively PVE. Most of us ASE players are not PVE. So to have to constantly spend more money just to compete with aimbotters, youtubers, extreme antimesh, inability to utilize ratholes, and a player base smaller than OG ark there is almost no point in coming back to ASA. It's beautiful, and the building is way better, but it is worse in every other conceivable way.

Me too. I happened to get ASE a few months ago while saving up for a PS5. I only did the Island, Crystal Isle, and part of Scorched Earth before I finally got the PS5 and ASA. I’m planning to play both versions since ASA doesn’t have many maps out yet. Given that I progress quite slowly I doubt I’ll run out of maps in ASA, it’s a comfort to know that I can just keep going on ASE. I suppose I’m a hybrid player at the moment.

Theres a very good reason for why wildcard might delay rag and prioritize extinction instead: Extinction is a part of bob tall tales, theyre probably thinking many people are waiting on bob tall tales to be complete before deciding they want to purchase it or not. Im sure snail games would want the final map included in the paid bundle to be released before the end of the year. Extinction also has a creature vote winner; the dreadnoughtus. Rag's creature vote was the gigantoraptor but we obviously have already had that creature in the game for months now. It would be lame to just release rag and pull the spawns off of the island and center and have spawn exclusively on rag. I think we'll have a new creature vote for rag or maybe the second place winner from the original vote for rag. Rag currently has no exclusive creature unlike the rest of the maps that will be added to the game

Yi Ling is a cool one, imo. The real world ones were very similar to it, and it resembles the hollow earth "Hellhawks" from the recent Godzilla movies which is has a similar vibe to Abberation.

The main thing I'm worried about is the premium mods. Bob's Tall Tales and the Fantastic Tames like the Pyromane are fine, since they don't require buying to join any servers. But Premium mods are rough, since they are a wide variety and also require you to own them to join servers that run them, and that's not even considering their prices. We only have 3 official maps and already have multiple premium mod maps which all cost $10. The pricing on premium mods is atrocious, and the number is only going to increase as more official maps/assets are added.

I will gladly pay more money for a new, revitalised Ark but having played (and paid...) through ASE and then ASA I need a new game now and I there are games due next year that will completely blow an Ark 2 out of the water. Adding FSR 3.1 and Removing frame generation is trash! DLSS frame generation looks better in all cases, the only reason they are going hard on FSR is because they do not want to fix the existing issues with the game's DLSS and Frame generation implementation and also the consoles use AMD hardware. So to reduce the workload they will instead get rid of the better option and give the middle finger to NVIDIA users, who are over 70% of Steam players. Yeah FSR works for everyone, but it looks and runs worse than Frame Generation. Cyberpunk 2077 has both DLSS frame gen & FSR, so why can't ARK ASA? Lazy ass developers.

I'm happy if my rtx 2060 has an easier time running the game, best fps I'm getting right now is about 20-30 frames with constant fluctuation. I was already planning on upgrading my gpu asap, but whatever help my gpu can get right now is appreciated. I just want to do a server cluster with friends with both Abberation and Ragnarok.

I use the premium GeForce Now server thing to stream/play ASA on and I can now play the game on epic settings!! It works best on a server but if you play single player you’ll have to reinstall any mods each time you play. I love it!! You should try it out and see if it works for you. It’s $20 a month though, but much cheaper than a new rig.

I'm mostly worried about the series S version getting even more fucked up by this update since they're upgrading the engine to a newer version of unreal engine. It's already incredibly broken. I mean it's borderline unplayable for me. Like I can't leave my base on an argy without the game crashing 20+ times, I can't even transfer to club ark or the center on our cluster, I doubt i can actually do the damn caves and ascend and all of that stuff without breaking. thank god for the admins on my cluster who have helped me throughout this shit. this shit's ridiculous and it shouldn't have been allowed to be released in this state. Honestly as someone that also really wanted the Chimera to win, I feel like Yi Ling could’ve been right at home on Fjordur or Valguero with all of their cliffs and elevation, but I’ve been softening up to the Yi Ling at least slightly. I’d have to see how it actually plays and how hard it is to get (I’m expecting it to be upper medium tier difficulty). Obviously not as hard as Rock Drake, but I’d want it to at least be moderately difficult to obtain. Maybe deep in the Blue Zone. As for ARK 2’s situation, I want nothing more than for it to succeed and for it to be fun. Delays also do not bother me almost at all since it is seemingly fairly far off and I’m more satisfied with playing ASA and other games on the side. I might be in the minority, but I like the rate of a new map every few months. It gives me plenty of time to get my initially fill and get past the honeymoon phase with each map and to move onto other games in the downtime. This help immensely with avoiding burnout and keeping the experience feeling as fresh as possible. It makes me feel like I’m playing ASE for the first time again and waiting for new content. I just know most of what to expect now and that only serves to increase my excitement.

They don't think about the fact that some creatures they will add could make some things way too easy. I can remember getting Drake eggs with only a glider and some climbing hooks. @@SnoGryphon That’s fair. For me though the fun part about Aberration is its high difficulty, unique biomes, and no actual fliers. It’s what makes the Drake so desired and warrants it to be a late game tame. To be completely honest, I don’t even use fliers until late game/end game since at that point they are just a convenience and most progression is over. I like the danger and traversing terrain until then. I avoided raising wyverns until I was ready to do the Manticore as an example.

Correct me if I'm wrong but Arkpocalypse wasn't that popular before they added mods? Also I can't wait for Aberration, def one of the most challegning maps out there

What concerns me is the fact that Snail is in danger of being de-listed from the stock market. If their valuation drops, it’s possible they lose credibility when dealing with server providers, animators, and other studios. Nobody needs to take my word for any of this. Just a quick search will show that Snail has a limited time (six months I believe) to do a stock merger or drive enough profit to increase value above 1$. De-listing could spell disaster for Ark II; maybe even ASA’s completion.

Hey Raas Hope all is well, I definitely enjoy watching your vids and I'm hyped for more mods potentially coming to official, however I would really like it if atleast 1 youtuber or someone from wildcard would mention the anti-cheat for windows that we were told we would get like 7 months ago, when we got locked out of pvp which is a large portion of ark, because windows players can't play pvp it makes asa waste of money to buy as an xbox player who switched to pc when around the release of asa,

Honestly yeah, Ragnarok was my main map after it came out. I didn't play anything else afterwards outside of Lost Island. That said, about Appalachia, I don't have any sway over them making official servers and I tried to play on them for a bit. i ran into the same issues but it only does the mesh thing on Officials for some reason. I was doing just fine on unofficials but I agree. Do NOT host official servers on and Early Access map. It makes no sense and it actually makes people angry. It makes me angry personally. I am going through and seeing what on earth is going on though. I'm asking around to see what causes it and I have done quite a few fixes. The next update is going to be a big one and I am excited to release that. It's in early access because I had systems I wanted to add and I didn't get much feedback outside of if it was playable or not during development. That's probably on me because I should have badgered them more but hey, I know when I am wrong. I'm trying to make it right. One update at a time. Also, the fog is fixed in the next update, caves are going to be fixed, ambient sounds working right, 2 new bosses, Completely reworked animal spawns, revamped areas to make them more interesting and a lot more. A lot of stuff from ASE did not transfer over well at all so I'm still having to find and fix and tweak things as people tell me about them. Keep up the great work, Raas! You help keep thing community going and alive.

Something similar happened when Lost Island dropped. The world barrier didn't exist apparently and I started and lived in the desert. Sometimes I would stray too far and next thing I know *poof* my stuff was gone. It was on officials btw. Sometimes these things happen for some weird reason

if snail stop existing or even wildcard they will sell of whatever they have for ark 2 - there is no reason to believe they are holding their ready game (which probably utelizes even mor epower than ase or asa) hostage

I hope they understand that people WANT to play the game, but until its optimized and runs smoother with less bugs and antimesh issues, they're never going to see the potential player increase. I bought ASA a few days ago, and i have above recommended specs for the game and still have to turn off clouds, fog, grass and run at medium-high settings. Even with all that, i still stutter, freeze and frame drop. My friends are waiting for the supposed optimize update, and if it helps then they have intentions of buying the game too. But until the optimizing happens, people wont play. Thats literally the biggest issue. We dont need content if we cant play the game 😭

Sad thing is, not even ASE was optimized. Which doesn't put a lot of faith into them doing the same with ASA :(

@@UnclePrymal Thats true, more people can play ase more-so now because of better hardware. But hardware is becoming much more expensive now vs when ase was in development, and very few people can actually keep up with the upgrades needed to run this game. I can run many other UE5 games on epic settings with my pc, but asa still struggles. I hope the devs dont expect people like me to upgrade our perfectly fine rigs just to play their game. But i guess all we can do it hope that they finally wake up and start answering the call of the fans...

ark people seriously forgetting that ragnarok is a community map? wildcard does the DLC maps, center for one has been outsourced to some other studio hasn't it? i'm fairly certain the same thing is true for the other community maps as well can't imagine them taking care of it themselves, i mean they did some pretty bad jobs as well if i were them and wanted to make sure it all goes well, i would let someone else do it while i'm doing my important things - like creating bugs, nerfing creatures into the ground and yes, even do a bit of map-work - and if anything, check out the result before releasing it and maybe doing some fixes here and there then again, i know nothing about this job, so i'm not too sure if you can do it that way.

As an ASE player, nothing's gonna get me to switch to ASA until a PC that can run ASE on medium graphics with occasional lag and frame drops can run ASA on medium-low graphics with occasional lag and frame drops. Currently ASA is still completely unplayable. If wildcard wants only the 5% of their playerbase with nasa PCs to play their new game, then they'll only get the 5% of their playerbase with nasa PCs to play their new game.
