Real talk about us being outside young. My parents split up when I was 7 and I had to take 2 city buses and walk a mile to get to school everyday from 2nd grade on at the height of the crack era on south side of Jamaica Queens. We literally walked over crack viles with the different color tops in the school yard everyday. 15 years later I was getting drafted by the Jets fulfilling a childhood dream back home. That early pressure set the stage for my life and I wouldn’t trade it for the world but now my 12 year old can’t go outside in my gated community without me watching her every step.
