That car, that house, those fancy clothes won’t make you happy, maybe for a few days. It certainly won’t help you during the rough patches of your marriage(they certainly will come). My parents have been for over 40 years. When they speak about each other and what has made them last. It’s not whether he paid for her nails or not, It’s not transactional.

This new generation of people are not about that. You cant blame people for asking what they want and/or not putting up with stuff they dont want (like your parents or my grandparents might´ve). Let’s make it very clear it depends on what type of guy your dating. They don’t make men like they use too. Your man should keep his woman car clean, keep gas in the car, and if we are married the man usually pay the rent or the mortgage. My man was a man’s man a real man that took care of me. It depends on what you want. Some want to do 50/50 relationships with both having jobs, others want one breadwinner and one homemaker. There's someone out there for everyone. Men shouldn't expect women to share bills AND be a homemaker, just like women shouldn't expect to not be a homemaker while men pay all the bills. Find the right person that fits what you want to balance it out. This should be talked about early on when you're still dating imo. ❤

If women desire to be viewed equally and dictate policy in the relationship then relationship cohabitation necessitates bill splitting. However, if she desires a more traditional relationship setup and is okay with submitting to her man, then in exchange for partnership she can expect for her man to provide for her; Provided his income allows for it. I only make this point because it’s extremely rare to find a woman nowadays who doesn’t feel entitled to a man’s income, even when her relationship performance is substandard. Case In Point: A woman could completely destroy a relationship for an entire boatload of reasons but still selfishly try to take half of everything her husband has worked hard for just because she feels entitled to it. Sometimes the only way to make a woman appreciate having a good man is to require her to spend some of her money too 😂😂😂

We women are tired of being thought of as sex buddies, housekeepers and nannies. If you want things to be equal when it comes to finances, that’s great. Just make sure things are equal when it comes to the domestic and emotional labor in the relationship. Do 50% of the household chores, 50% of the child rearing and pick up Mother’s Day gifts for your own mother instead of making your girlfriend do it.

@lynne709 I don't disagree with anything you stated. I do want to say this honestly and respectfully as both genders can do better at picking the right partners. We as men gotta take accountability for our actions. Women have to do the same as well in a sense of us both putting up with behaviors that are beneath us. I was raised to do all those things. I cook, clean, laundry, help with kids, and do everything on my own. I don't mind doing my part and giving you all the love you need. I am stating this respectfully because I don't know which generation you are from. I'm 35 and most of the women who I come across can't even do basic home maintenance (cook, clean, and take care of children etc...) but want everything from me. I chose to stay single because until I find the one who brings peace, I don't want the headache. Plus I wish I would send a woman to pick my mother's gift. Mom Dukes would rip me a new one. She would also rip me a 8 one if the mother of my child didn't get a gift or recognition either, though.

Even in some of the most progressive nations in the world, working women still do most of the child rearing & house work in addition to working.
