Should You Add A Fixed Retainer To Your Treatment Plan?

Since I'm getting my braces off this year, I am thinking about getting a retainer. Do we pick what retainer we want or does the doctor does?

You get to decide which retainer is best for you, but it is always a good idea to consult your doctor about your decision!

@Orthodontic Experts I don't get to decide! I start the process of getting out of my Invisalign in a couple of weeks and was told I'm getting both, fixed and Essex.

@@monicastraub3372 same here. Ortho told me I’d need fixed for lower and Essix for top teeth. I don’t want wire glued to my lower teeth if I don’t have to. I’m responsible and won’t forget to wear a removable one ☺️

@Ms Heartface I have my fixed retainers in now. He placed them on top and bottom teeth! I'm still getting the Essix retainers this week. I was told to just wear the top one all day when I get it for a few months. Wear both top and bottom at night. Eventually just at night. I'm getting used to the metal behind my teeth. It feels weird, but I'll get used to it more and more I'm sure. Flossing is hard. I'm using the treading technique twice a day and using a Waterpik everyone after I eat and brush. It's just easier but can't imagine it does as good a job as Flossing. So I do both, I just use the Waterpik a bit more. We'll see if it's working! I go for my first cleaning with my fixed retainers this coming Wednesday!

@@monicastraub3372how is everything going so far. I got my braces removed yesterday and have fixed retainers on both upper and lower teeth. And clear removable retainers also to wear on fixed ones for both upper and lower jaw
