I played Amoebunnies at two cons and it was so much fun.! People kept coming back to play it and were waiting for it. Roy is definitely my favorite to play.

Castlescape is really good, not sure I need an expansion. You should definitely try it
@TheSlayerN2 ай бұрын
I bought CastleScape during their previous campaign, solid game, gotten to the table a few times. They have been sending out bizarre emails regarding their expansion campaign since it launched though. I think it has WILDLY underperformed based on their expectations, they even sent out a survey soliciting feedback today about what went wrong. It honestly reads like they were/are on the fence about whether to cancel and relaunch or not.

Oof. Restart just cancelled too. Sometimes reviewer hype doesn’t equate to $$ success. We’ll see.

Yep, looks like CastleScape just canceled this morning. Emails got really weird, hopefully their 2025 relaunch goes well and maybe they bring on someone new to write their press releases.

I've been watching and considering root for a few years. I may be crazy enough to back all in, when I've never played it before, and for solo only when the clockwork expansions are out of print. I have found them available online at least but it's expensive for solo.

Agreed that it would be an expensive solo venture

When and if it will come to play Bardsung 2 game I hope there will be a lot for sale at discount price on the market. Heck, I still haven’t played my first shelved Bardsung…;)

Feld and Grinivil for me. The first is proven, and the second looks extremely promising.

Grinivil looks (probably) too heavy. Or at least someone needs to teach it to me instead!

On BGG, testers marked it as medium (not even medium heavy) and it is actually very easy to learn (chris also mentioned that rules are very clear). I like bgg how to play video.

I do love ROOT; but it does have a learning curve - and I can't get it to the table as often as I used to. I'm definitely getting it. EMPIRE BUILDER was great gateway game 40 years ago - wet erase markers are much better than crayons.

I'd love to hear your opinion about Sublime Dark and their idea of "Less Is More approach". Also, how dare you say Bardsung is a lifestyle game!!!! ;)
2 ай бұрын
lol. I actually covered sublime dark last week. Good track record, but too much unknown for me regardless given my own inability at times to even choose wisely when I have all/more information let alone this little
@ihugyoucuziloveyou2 ай бұрын
True, but I also find it 'interesting' that they don't want to show a gameplay video or a rulebook just because it would spoil too much. Their original idea was to kickstart a blank page. Cheers!

Empire builder series is a great game. Believe this one is based on Eurorails, and I have that one, so won't back this one. It's essentially an economic game. You have to strike a balance. Build to much track, you will have to rent others. So initial build is vital. Can you use 2 of your 3 cards with medium or low payouts that are guaranteed? Or build the one long route with a higher payout. Complicating matters not every player can build into every city. So getting their first matters a bit. Also, yo win must connect a certain number of major cities. Other players can work together to make you go the long way around. And, if I recall, there are 3 community cards in a pool anyone can claim. Simple game, but with alot going on.

But Chris, why not taking a walk over to your local forrest and start an intimate, private war with the local squirrels and raccoons? Why back an expansion for a game you haven't played enough yet anyway. 😁

Not having the Clockwork expansions available for Root really dampened my enthusiasm for this project.

Excited about Bardsung. Original game was a diamond in the rough. Procedural Generated dungeon crawls are fun and there aren't enough of them out there.

Bardsung has less non-combat activity than even Frosthaven, very few environments, just less of a 'world', and the first game was a miss, pass for me

Sometimes I actually am starting (at times) to prefer less non combat. But yeah I can see that

Same for Bardsung.. jumped in on first campaign, played it once and then sold it, just too much work and not much excitement for me 😅, but then again dungeon crawlers aren’t usually my thing either, but for this one I was initially really hyped tbh (due to really positive YT initial reviews and first impressions)
