I’m so PROUD to hear you speak about that we need to fix this behavior because he could harm another dog. I have been fighting against the discrimination of pittbulls for 30 years…But we as owners HAVE to be RESPONSIBLE if we want to help that!!

most dogs over threshold wont listen to verbal cues or hand signals which is why its sometimes best to just walk away and let the dog calm down on its own before going back to the stimuli. repitition is everything when it comes to training.

You have to be an authority to that dog for one and unless that dog is for personal protection it should see people as a whole as who they listen to so you can introduce people to your dog and they can give a sit command and the dog will listen because imagine you aren’t home and now your wife can’t get the dog to listen on a walk you know it can be done just the sound of your voice that dog should be looking up at you for approval there are working line dogs who are independent thinkers like the kangal and livestock guardian dogs the APBT is not one of them they aren’t independent thinkers they are driven and they aren’t as out of control as even a Belgian malinoise even those dogs are nuts independent thinkers and are more people aggressive they just are packed full of muscle but those are more out of control dogs than an APBT but the APBT has that level of trainability they are really the perfect dogs you can use them as a sniff dog a hunting/catch dog personal protection dog or just family pet coach potato people say misinformation about pitbulls and that’s why people still believe the lock jaw bs they can be taught bad habits yes they were used as fighting dogs in the past but so were many other dogs it’s just they are the easiest to obtain dogs anyone can get one for cheap so the bad individuals get them and teach them bad qualities and they hurt people and other animals it’s a shame

Agreed, if I want the dog to “leave it” or “heel”. The command should be given. “Free” should not be the same as “get it”. The dog alerted to its toy that they are allowing it to attack. I let allow my dog to pull on command. And STOP pulling on command. The leash correction, is in addition to what my verbal instructions are. If I hold the leash low the dog will pull like a tractor. If I jerk the leash up or crack the leash it will sit or heel.

I can agree to disagree. You get his or her attention first and correct them. Then, no matter what's going on around your dog, they'll listen. A simple smack with rolled up news paper to the noise or smack on his or rear-end. An make eye contact while doing this, and do it early. The mother will nip to correct her pups and stare the pup down. I owned a dog similar to that size. The dog will mirror your actions as well. Be consistent and patient. Then, you can simply make eye contact to discipline your dog. An eventually not use physical correction. FACTS!!! 😂

I hope everyone notices how big these gentleman are and the strength that they have to use to restrain that dog Point being, the average person who doesn't live on a farm with livestock to protect and manage does not need a big and intimidating dog Research different breeds and consider your needs and desires before choosing a dog to own I highly recommend a dog that You can easily overpower and pick up off the ground if necessary There are many dogs that fit this description and can still provide you good protection and security If you choose wisely and pick a smaller dog but you aren't all the way confident, get a second dog to provide company, back up and to form a pack between the three of you (and of course You Must Be The Alpha)

People have the strength just not a willingness to do it. I'm a 145 lb female with very strong and heavy dogs that I can't just pick up. But they are not getting anywhere when I plant my feet! They will NOT get to where they want to go by doing all that. Engagement is such an important thing to build. It helps that I've never had to worry about one of mine redirecting or doing anything to further challenge my charge therefore i do not question forcing them. I do little things to show them that I am their leader because I know that they are probably stronger than me but I'll never let them think that way.

They are also both intact males. I walk them both at the same time and they do not pull me all over whenever they feel like it. I have rules and boundaries they need to follow. Leave it is the command I use when they try to fixate on anything. I stop it before it happens.

My doggos walk no lease, no collar, all while being constantly stimulated by squirrels rabbits, birds, no fences between them and neighbors dogs etc, haven’t had accidents at all. So many ways to get a male dog in line, getting physical is one of them.

I seen some infomercial ad late night yrs ago. What he did was show a simple trick that if the dog pulls "out the gate" soon as you leave home turn him around n go back home & give him/her a treat if they stop on demand n didn't pull. So I tried that over and over with my pity when he was young & it worked. H got so good I never had to walk him with a leash. Did that with my next two or three Pitties & it still worked (although only my first one I could have off leash, I was doing High School had all day to train tho.) One dog tho was hard, every Walker have to go in and out the house 5 times to stop him from tugging, eventually he got it but he was just hard-headed and I got to him late.

He was super reactive and still is but extreme improvements in a few weeks. I can take elevators with people now and he's focused on me. Walks are amazing! I had the same collar that you are using and it's making it 10x worse! The prong is snug high up on the neck and provides real proper corrections. Simple pops is all it takes. Try it out. my mutt is part yorkie so he isnt as big but he has just as much tenacity when he sees something. when he pulls i basically do the same thing by constantly walking away, making him turn around to face me or away from the stimuli, and waiting for him to calm down. its a bit repetitve but its been working and now his reactivity has lessened. i also give him a much better outlet for his drive. i dont care about how long training takes i care about how long it lasts. training can take months or years but id rather have it take that long and last a lifetime.

My boyfriend however completely disagree. He says that these dogs have to know who is dominant, you can never let them feel like they are the alpha. I do agree that this type of dogs are stubborn dogs. Very strong willed . If your dog is food motivated then get him some treats the freeze dried ones work well for me. The fact that he is toy motivated could make him a great service dog, all military and police trained dogs are toy motivated not food motivated.

Ionly did it a few times for her to understand. Idk much about training but i treat and good food train too. But my bully became really calm in her interactions, spontaneous or not. @@blueflare3848 you’re reaching and exaggerating you don’t have to beat the “sh*t” out your dog but again depending on the dogs breed and temperament you sometimes might have to give the dog a small “spank” because dogs are pack animals and territorial this is what leads to dogs attacking other dogs on the street because regardless of fear or whatever the dog needs to know YOU are in charge….we’re talking bout animals not humans we don’t share the same level of consciousness and again dog is still an animal mental/physical discipline is apart of life no debating that

If my Corso isn’t behaving every now and then he’ll catch a slap. Giving ur dog a slap isn’t wrong but constantly abusing a dog is different. If your controlling a big dog you want him to know who’s dominant otherwise he’ll walk all over you when his fully grown at 130+ ibs

There is a difference between correction and abuse, you can firmly correct your dog without trying to kill them. Most people that own bully breed dogs, don't spend enough time watching them with a alpha pack leading dog, I honestly love where my dog is discipline wise, but I also know I could have done much more in the training aspect but one thing my dog knows is when my voice get firm whatever he is doing he should stop, I am firm on NO, MOVE and STOP.

Why not use a prong for corrections? Not judging , just trying to understand - I would think the dog believing he could move me toward an object he wants is giving him an opportunity to be alpha or at least believe he can make power moves on me.

@Longdown the trainer in the video is already using decent technique but not the right equipment and those are the tools needed in this situation. You may know more than me I'm only a professional dog trainer specializing in behavioral modification for over 14 years who owns multiple businesses including my board and train facility where we train thousands of dogs.

@Longdown you really just named three protection sport dog trainers lmfao 🤣😂🤣😂. Dog training is a huge practice with many different forms and purposes. The trainer in the video is obviously a balanced pet dog trainer with some knowledge of behavioral modification. They are two very different things. Shows everyone you have no idea what you are talking about. Have you ever even been around a dog before? 🤦‍♂️🤡

@Longdown wrong again their are many different fields all with their own specialists. You should know this if you are a fan of ivan balabanov or Michael Ellis. As an example we do service dog training at my board and train Something most sports dog trainers know absolutely nothing about. My personal specialty is pet dogs with behavioral issues such as dominant aggression and fear aggression which are not ideal candidates for sport dog training. As a matter of fact only a very limited few dogs of not only specific breed but also even more specific bloodline are chosen for dog sport. Many spot dog trainers have fallen into the trap of purchasing a dog of the right breed but poor genetics and so they just get rid of the dog. I train dogs of every breed and bloodline regardless of if you got it from a shelter or reputable breeder. Please keep going you are digging yourself deeper and deeper in a hole. 🤦‍♂️

@Longdown you are so confidently wrong as a result of being extremely simple minded. You speak about an entertainment aspect that has absolutely nothing to do with the subject at hand the same way dog training isn't reliant or graded on how entertaining it is. You are just giving your opinion which is you like sport dog training and that's fine. The fact of the matter is sports dog trainers have it easy in a lot of ways considering they only work with dogs who have been genetically bred to do the exact job they are supposed to do. Training a dog to be a pet is much more unpredictable and difficult. I'm in no way saying I could do what they do but they also cant do what I do. There is levels to each individual field the same way Boxers dont transfer well to UFC fighters (for the most part) and vice versa.

Hand signals in the beginning with your training, dogs don't understand language but can eventually learn what word goes with each command and your puppy should never break a command until he or she is told to an set boundaries with everything your puppy does for example you should be able to set a steak 🥩 In front of your dog and they should wait until you tell them it's okay to eat. There's so many things that helps issues with a reactive dog i had my hands full in the beginning with My Corso he'll be 3 years old in March and I walk with prosthetics and my boy Riley sure loves squirrel 🐿️'s and I have a lot of good memories eating the dirt holding onto his leash 😂 and I honestly don't think he would kill the squirrel because he loves other dogs and people but if he doesn't know you then you can't come into our home or property. I've learned a lot of things that I wish I knew in the beginning that would have made things easier the 4 most important commands are stop, stay recall and this isn't really a command but your puppies attention when you say it's name their eyes should be locked on your's waiting for you to tell it what to do . Your dog should never fear you but respect you and want to do what his or her owner wants them to do because they respect you as their leader their alpha. Prong collars are a very great tool if used correctly and never and I repeat never used to punish or abuse your dogs . Every dog breed is going to be somewhat different in certain areas whether it's health related or aggression because I've owned several Pitbulls throughout my life and some boxers that were mixed with a Blue heeler and when started dating a woman i had been friends with for 20 years and her brother had a Corso that I had no idea what Corso was before that and honestly this will tell you how much knowledge I had about dogs at the time was i thought bull mastiff was the only type of mastiff breed there was 😂 and that pitbulls jaws locked and with all fairness I've done almost 9 years in Tennessee department of corrections i got my GED while I was incarcerated and my mom was so proud she had my picture when I walked out and got a blank piece of paper 📜 so yeah I'm definitely not the brightest guy in the world but you would be surprised what you can learn from reading and doing some research. You have some beautiful puppies my friend.

All I got to do most of the time is put on my growly voice and give that look. I'm sure all the humans think you're mean and absolutely insane but idc what they think. I raised my dog trying to use the most natural forms of "dominance" (not to be confused with aggression)including my voice. We can growl too and it makes em think! Edit: my dogs were raised with these practices and I wouldn't necessarily just start growling at an adult dog and expect it to be like "oh okay"

I did with my pit bull and when he became a full adult i never had to touch him, hew was fully trained to the snap of my fingers he knew each snap ment something different l rather ut be sit, lay down, sit down, calm down, or stop playing rough with other dogs and cone here. And he was breed from full breed fighting pits. He did even bit me before when i was beating his ass dyring the learning phasec it wasn't a full bite more like a scrape but it never happened again after that and he turned out to be a perfect dog! I could walk him without a leash in public and my boss and co worker's would beg me to bring him to work everyday and i was working at advanced auto parts at the time
