SHOULD YOU BUY A BMW 1 SERIES? (F40)

I just bought a used 120d F40 while I can - before the uglier 2025 1er takes over. I was contemplating between a mini and a 1er - and I do agree with what you said, it's a nicer Mini. It just makes more sense. I got a decent deal on the used 120d with around 30k miles on it & fairly well speced from the local BMW used cars showroom. Handling is great - especially with the xdrive and 8-speed ZF gearbox. Fun and yet economical. I had to get a smaller second car - glad I got this. I have an Audi Q5 as well. The Beamer is soo much fun to drive compared to my Q5 - which feels like steering a ship in comparison.

Interesting review. I'm currently thinking of changing my 2017 Mercedes A-class diesel and I can't make my mind up whether to go Merc again (A35 AMG), BMW M135i or something completely different 🤔 I do like the look of the 1-Series, especially in blue. Funny, after you'd been driving for a couple of minutes, I recognised where you were. My local area too 🙂👍

Got my 116i, 4 weeks ago at a fairly good deal since this is an outgoing model. Moreover the new model doesn’t excite me. Handling and comfort 👍🏻.

I have the the 135i over a year now 23 plate I'm over the moon with it quiet comfortable quick when you want it to be excellent about town Go get

I am due to test-drive one next week. Having lived with a MINI Cooper for years, I expect the new 1series to be a reworked MINI, not a real BMW. I will reserve my verdict until I've driven it. I am very aware that alternatives are available.

What did you think? I found it had a nice ride and handling, and was built nicely inside. But clutch was quite heavy and gearbox was a bit spongy

Well I have bought one. So yes
