I'd have the E39 just for the V8 with the 6 speed manual. Its totally a german 4 door muscle car like the holden commodore. E60 is awesome for the high rpm fun drives. F10 is actually like a 7 series with all the M performance goodies for its size. Great video man.

Just found this video. I own both. Its glorious. 2 of the best dailies ever. But it aint cheap. F10 is obviously faster and more comfortable. They usually dont have problems until 90k+ miles. And even then its bad other than the new clutch. The e60 has the vanos, actuators, valve spings, injectors and the infamous rod bearings and smg. Preventative maintenence is a must on both. The forums literally teach this. Lifes hard but its harder when youre stupid. Do your due diligence and calculate if you can afford the maintenance. The higher the mileage the more things need to be changed. I bought mine with high mileage so i could get a low buy in (8600) and have money left over to change all known problems. The v10s will continue to appreciate and remember that newer cars are depreciating faster than your payment. Just avoid depreciation and invest in the maintenance to retain or enhance the potential appreciation.

F10 m5 is better in all aspect. Everyone keep saying the sound in the e60 m5 is better, but i see it as just different. You can't say e60 is better base on sound alone.

I do believe that the SMG Tranmission was never operated correctly and that the most owners did not understand that you had to let the engine get up to operating temperature so that the oil would penetrate trough the rod bearings. Are you going to show the proper way to operate the SMG?

I have the SMG i always let's the car run for 10 or more minutes while I get ready to leave before I drive EVERY day it does not matter when I come back from shopping eating I let the car run let all operation procedures take effect and go I have 45k miles on my car and it is in pristine shape I have videos of it on my page let's talk as fellow enthusiast

Although I LOVE the E60 M5 since it has the v10, I think I'm going to hold out until the used F90 M5 prices get reasonable.The M5 power combines with the selectable xDrive makes for a pretty badass combination. I think the only thing better would be if they offered it with a turbocharged V10.

You're right around the milage where you have to replace throttle actuators, clutch, sometimes smg related components like pump motor and slave cylinder, vanos solenoids. It's a great vehicle if you can afford the parts and you know how to work on the car.

I just bought e60 m5 with 41k miles 20k cash from dealership tip top condition owner for some reason replaced the head gaskets and timing covers at a performance at 20k miles RPI intakes and all features except comfort access plus and soft close doors which was a 600 dollar option love my e60 and also f10 m5s hook great not sure what you saw

It's normal to have a new Head gasket on these cars . It had parts replaced like rod bearings and other components ... so when you open a high performance engine always replace the head gaskets . In fact this counts for every engine :-)

I think your napkin math on car payments and rates are a bit off. 20k loan for a used private party vehicle is 2.69% for 72 mo. 25k+ you can go up to 84mo (crazy!) This from my local credit union if you have good credit and decent loan to value.

E60 M5 all day everyday IF it's a manual. It's not the type of car you should drag race with or go racing in general, it's just a monstrously powerful, F1 sounding super fast cruiser. That car is made to be driven on highways and the Autobahn at 330 km/h and that is why it uses this high revving engine. The F10 M5 is an extremely underrated car, especially if it's a manual as it is a very well made, powerful and elegant looking sedan, that also could sound very nice, if straight piped. But at the end of the day my favourite car is the E60 M5, because no one buys these cars to be rational. Just maintain it, give it some love and it will pay off you back. If you cheap out and not change the road bearings and ''forget" the SMG pump it it's an SMG car, it will break your wallet. It's a phenomenal car, but it just requires some special care.
