Richee, thank you for this update. I’ve been on the fence about ordering an M3 to replace my current work vehicle, and it’s encouraging to hear it’s been reliable. I am leery of the AC leakage issues that have been reported on the BMW forums, though, which in the deep south is a potential dealbreaker. But it is a spectacular car and motor. And damage repair costs like that CV boot are a headache, but try to keep perspective- $1700 is not bad compared to items that go bad over time on more exotic vehicles that deliver similar performance. I have a lift and do most of my own repair and maintenance work, but one of my cars just developed a leaking fuel pump regulator, which is molded into the fuel pump cover and not replaceable, and the new fuel pump assembly was $1200 wholesale (dealer was 2x that), and it requires pulling the tank to replace it. BMW and all other mfgrs have had to reduce costs by using more plastic parts to stay competitive, and that is a headache, but at least the parts are somewhat reasonable, especially for the performance that the M3 delivers.

Ordering my 25 m3 xdrive very soon. White with blue interior. Comfort seats definitely for me. Those buckets are extremely uncomfortable.

I just had my 1200 mile break in service on my M3 comp and I suspect that the dealer did not change the oil and diff as required, but I can’t prove it. They were super busy that day and they made all sorts of mistakes on the paperwork. I wish there was a way to verify whether the fluids were actually changed. It’s a fun car to drive.

@@RicheeRevs because: when I bought it in I asked the service advisor if the oil and diff are changed during this first service and he said no. I insisted that it is supposed to be changed. He called one of the technicians in the back and they confirmed that I was right … but this was after the check in paperwork had already been filled out and he refused to change it and said that the techs will know to change the fluids. Also, he put down the mileage as 890 when it was 1190. And he wrote that it was a 12,000 mile service. And the paperwork says they checked my tire pressure but the low pressure warning came on the day after the service. And in the past I had a Volvo and took it in for an oil change and decided to check the oil after the change and discovered that it was still very dirty. I showed the service manager and he apologized profusely and made the tech actually change the oil. Also, there is supposedly a video that the customer is supposed to get with the first M3 service (it’s referenced in my paperwork) but no video was given to me and the service advisor said that they sometimes have a glitch and can’t upload the video, whatever that means. Anyway, sorry for the long reply but I don’t trust this dealership and I hope that they didn’t forget to change the fluids (of course they assured me that the fluids were changed).

$31k spent in one year! I have a 2022 m3, w 17k miles and think if I sold it today it would have only cost me about 5k in deprecation from my purchase price

Well the car can be pretty economical if you want it to be. Real world tests on a manual show 31mpg at 62mph on the highway. If you up that to 70 it's a little less. I suspect the automatic will do even better because it has more gears. But if you hammer it yeah it's thirsty.

@@RicheeRevs Yeah that's fair enough. I have an Audi that I drive around town because of that. Don't really need to drive the M3 every day to get somewhere. But if you live in Texas or Louisiana or somewhere like that the gas thing isn't a problem. It's $2.40 in New Orleans for example (I was just there last week). In areas where the prices aren't so friendly yeah it can get a little much.
