I always laugh how everyone says little bikes like the XT and TW are “wife bikes” or girl bikes or whatever (which is dumb because I know female riders who make me look like a newb after 15-16 years of riding haha) but they’ll turn around and say how much fun a Grom is because it’s so small and light and nimble. I’m just over here saying, RIGHT!? Get an XT250! Even more fun!

Dual sports are so tall, I think anyone under 5'10 would have a better time on an xt250 or a dr200. Plus that's really all you need in the dirt. I can't even use all of the Power of the crf300 because it just spins the rear wheel in first and second. I definitely like Excess power on the street but in the dirt you're very traction limited and I think the smaller displacement bikes are better

As a short rider, the Honda was a no-go. Both are very hard to find new, and just about as difficult to find used. I bought the Kawasaki KLX 230 S new and am very satisfied. I wouldn't take it for a 100 mile adventure, but it's awesome on local roads and trails.

I'd like to test ride a CRF300. I bought a used XT with 2300 miles a few months ago for $4k. I immediately had the oil changed and put a new chain on it and adjusted/lubed it. It's been a great little ride so far. I haven't rode much because it's still winter where I'm at but, soon enough, summer will be here and I'll be exploring some serious terrain in the grizzly country. The XT looks great, it's a proven design, is made in Japan, and it's light and approachable. The turning radius is also excellent. I wonderful option for riders 5 ft 8 and under. I am 5 ft 8 175lbs and I hit 71 today and had a little more throttle to go... it did feel squirly at that speed. Honestly, anything over 62 was a bit much. I think the cruising sweet spot in 5th gear is about 55mph.
@donwatkins97693 жыл бұрын
Why do you typically buy a motorcycle. FUN!!! If the bike is too high it is not fun. In the 70's and 80's all Honda Yamaha dirt bikes had about a 30 inch seat height. I am 5'9" and bought a KTM 250 and it was fast but not fun like the old days. I took it to a KTM suspension shop and said I want to lower it 4 inches. They said you wont be able to do triple jumps. If I was going to do triple jumps I would buy a KTM 300. They lowered it and trail riding became fun again! Now I am looking at the Yamaha XT250 because of seat height.

Had a deposit on a 2021 CRF300L but two days before it came in I bought a new/used 2021 XT250 with 400 miles on it. Saved over $2000.00 because no dealer fees at all. Plus at least another $500 on lowering link and seat to make the CRF low enough for me to ride it safely. The long legs in the family belong to my wife and I wasn't about to ride down the city streets having to do a circus act at every red light. Talking about the torque that the 300 CRF has the XT isn't missing out on any torque itself you can feel it even in 5th gear and really should have a 6th gear. Tough choice for me. The single track here is steep and gnarly mountain trails often far from civilization. On those trails I would feel better on a more trail worthy and bigger fuel range XT. I have NEVER spent $7,000 for any motorcycle! $2,500 is my high cap. I paid $2,000 for my XT225, with a 6 spd and it's 40 lbs lighter! That's EIGHT 5 lb bags of sugar strapped to your bike to equal the CRF300L weight! On paper, the DRZ400 would be my choice. But at 5'4 the TW200 and XT225/250 are my best choices. But I prefer the ergos on the TW and the engine and transmission in the XT. So this winter I plan to make a TW225 6 spd! I've owned the KLR650, F650GS DAKAR, and the pre '96 DR650; they didn't work out. A '96 or newer DR650 can be adequately lowered, but I found a DR350 that I think will address my issues: enough power for highway stints, 286 lb wet weight, 6 spd transmission, and the stock seat can be lowered to 33", and you can still lower the padding in the seat. So shorter riders, the DP bikes from easiest/lightest up: TW200, XT225/250, DR350 lowered, DR650 lowered. Please ad to my short list, if you think of another.

I have a giant review on the xt250. You should check that out. I sold it and bought the CRF which is why it's not in the video

Can I touch the ground at 5’7”?
@TheCoolestCourier3 жыл бұрын
With boots on you can touch the ground on the Yamaha, on the Honda you will be on your tippy toes
@Mr.Mikey.Holiday3 жыл бұрын
Im 5’9 and can touch the ground on a ktm 690 enduro with a 36” seat. Your height doesnt have all to do with it. Your inseem is what actully matters.
@TheCoolestCourier3 жыл бұрын
That is very true! I'm 5'11 and the Honda with its 34in seat height is the tallest I'm comfortable with but I have a smaller inseam than the average person my height. I'm mainly torso lol

@@Mr.Mikey.Holiday I have a 27 inch inseam do you think i’d be able to ride it comfortably?
@randomelmo93 жыл бұрын
@@خلال-م8د I have a 27-28 in inseam and I can’t flat foot the XT250, can get one foot down solid. Might depend on your weight though

En la altura del asiento es muy importante la longitud de tus piernas, la anchura de caderas que tengas, lo ancho o estrecho que sea el asiento .

What about a klx300?
@TheCoolestCourier2 жыл бұрын
I'm sure the KLX is just as good. I heard it's actually better off-road just not quite as torquey as the Honda

I much prefer the CRF of these two.

The engine and the way it looks is much better for sure. But I enjoy the seat height and the throttle response of the XT

@@TheCoolestCourier I am sorely tempted by a KLX300SM. For the city and the local backroads in the countryside.

You should try to rent one before buying a Supermoto. I think it's the best city/canyon bike ever made.

It is compared to the XT but definitely shorter than a DRZ400 which I am happy about
