Comment below what you want me to talk about next when it comes to drifting, sim driving, etc.
This is a continuation of the last video explaining if you should buy an expensive sim rig to start.

I started playing on a PS2 wheel with no FFB to play Gran Turismo. Later I got a G27 on sale because the G29 was being released soon and I have to admit for a while it was great since I didn't know any better, I didn't have the budget for Fanatec and I Thrustmaster T300RS GT wasn't out yet. It's when I got tired of making weird contraptions to push a button on my shifter as a handbrake I looked into a Logitech handbrake and realised I should have waited and gotten a T300RS GT because I knew by then I had the cash for it. Instead I build my first gaming pc, built a wooden cockpit / workstation with 3 monitors and a Fanatec handbrake to keep on having fun. It's later when I started wanting to learn more about sim drifting I realised my skills are bad but the G27 wasn't helping since I felt like I was more fighting that noisy wheel more than learning proper technics. That's when I started to look for something I could get and have fun for long while, looking into how many nm would be just good enough, quality products and mostly quiet stuff because I'm in an appartment and I don't want to wake up everybody around since I play at night. I watched a lot of reviews about Moza R9, R12, Simagic Alpha mini 10nm, Cammus DDWB 15nm, shifters, handbrakes, pedal sets and now I'm saving up to get the Simagic Alpha mini with their P1000 inveted pedals set with the hydraulic system, the SHH shifter because it's a quiet one and I'm still looking into handbrakes and if I'm making a new wooden rig, build a aluminum profil or buy one which would have all my requierements and follow a plan instead of burning my brain designing one of my own.

yeah gear driven wheels are crap especially for drifting. I started out on a TMX and really had to help the wheel around cuz it just wasn't fast enough. as for handbrakes they're kind of weird IMO, they're cool but you don't really need one. like the weird thing with handbrakes is that they're kind of like a crutch, an easy way to initiate a drift or correct a mistake. so they can really help when you're just learning but then once you start getting the hang of drifting you'll notice the handbrake only slows you down (literally) and 9 times out of 10 you can do a better drift without ever touching it. so it's important not to rely on it too much IMO. also build your own rig out of 2x4's, I have 2 left hands and never really build anything but I did and it's not that hard. like I didn't even have plans or anything, just looked at some stuff online and built mine similar to what I saw online. it's far cheaper and more rigid than any of the foldable lawnchair frames and it's fully customizable. like IMO the only thing that would be better is one of those 8020 aluminum frame rigs.

@@zwenkwiel816 Hey man thanks for the reply. Oh I already made a diy sim rig / work desk for my G27 years ago with a junkyard car seat, a couple of 2' x 4", some plywood, a diy triple monitor stand made with some 1.5 inch galvanized plumbing tubes, fittings and such. I even asked my boss the permission to steal a ergonomic adjustable keyboard tray after work since nobody used them and I could use one to use the sim rig as a working desk as well. The thing is since I want to upgrade to Simagic alpha mini and all the other things I don't think I would make another diy sim rig with 2 x 4 again, it would either be designing and building a 8020 profile rig or buy one which would have all my requirements. As for the handbrake, for sure I'll get another one, my Fanatec one broke and it was a big waste of time and money getting that one in first place. I just don't know if I should get an amazon one and smother it in all purpose grease, get a Moza one or some other budget friendly one I still don't know about. Let's be frank I'm not paying 200$ or more on a lever no matter if it's a potentiometer or a load cell or a hydraulic system handbrake. Oh if it gives you an idea the handbrake will be behind the future SHH shifter because I couldn't put it like a professional drifting car, I still need the rig to be like a desk for when I play other types of games as well. I'm even thinking about getting turn signal and whiper levers and a button box since I'll have an aftermarket wheel without any buttons. Have a nice one!!!

t300 is a decent wheel, think it might be kind of outdated though now they have all these cheapish DD wheels and everything

Return it because the t300 wheelbase has a tendency to break randomly. I've gone through one and my friends have gone through two.

Got my G920 rig (pedals, wheel + deep dish rim, and shifter) all for less than 120 USD. Lot more issues have come along (such as the wheel popping out of alignment almost every sessione I drive)

Doesn't have the feedback I wish I had a lot of the time. But any rig is going to clean up your hands if you put the time and effort in. I do believe that cheaper rigs could make you worse if you don't put in the extra thought and analysis required (as it is going to be less intuitive with worse FFB).

@@michaeltian I dislike the logitech rigs but they are reliable for the average person. I would definitely go with the moza r5 for you since its cheap and more than enough when it comes to torque.

So I'm def leaning towards starting off with a higher end setup but wondering if I should do wheel stand or not. Ideally I wanna be able to fold it up to stow away since I use my desk for working.

At Best Buy they have something called the gt lite play seat try that out and see if it fits your budget it’s pretty cool for the money

Gt Omega has a really good wheel stand that has a place to put the wheels of your chair. It runs for around 150 dollars on Amazon. If you have more space then get a gt lite.

hey man im thinking between r5 or r9 but i dont have space for an cockpit or stand wheel. can an r9 be good on a desk?? or better go with r5

@Siraj_Meera Күн бұрын
The r5 would be better for the desk and really thats best to start with. You can get a gt omega wheel stand which would be good for both but id say go with the r5.

Don’t do what I did. I was super depressed at work and tried to fix that by upgrading my whole rig. Originally I had a Logitech setup with an Amazon cheap cockpit. One Thursday I had a real bad day and drove to micro center after work to buy a sim lab cockpit. Retail therapy. I spent like 10k+ so far including upgrading the pc for vr. I would get super high and drive around in vr trying to ignore how much I hated my job. I changed jobs and I’m sober and I’m mostly better. I don’t drive the rig enough now and that’s what i need to fix next.

Glad you got sober and gotten better. Sim racing is not only therapy for me but it is also training for a greater purpose like competing in real life. Again love to hear your story keep me updated through the comments on your journey id love to hear it

I've been on Logitech G29 because my parents got it for my 15th birthday. 2 years later, and I'ma upgrade to Moza R5 or R9 I think. Question is, which cockpit? I've been grinding work for awhile, and definitely wanna go big. Literally sim racing us the only thing that makes life worth living!😅😅😅

can awnser your question only if i have your budget that you are willing to spend on wheel wheelbase and your rig
@Sethsimracing
@Sethsimracing 11 күн бұрын
@nxm_bops Including the wheelbase, wheel, pedals, and the cockpit I'd like to spend no more than 2500 USD. Though I would be willing to spend more, it would just push the investment into Fall, rather than the end of Summer.

Funny enough I was going to make a video on budget rigs that are underrated that you should buy. If you want to go big but want a solid budget rig I recommend the 6 Sigma Racing 6s Slim rig. It runs for around 400 dollars with the shifter mount and without a seat. You can get any budget seat on Facebook marketplace and get a seat rail from Amazon.

get a simlab cockpit. theyre in the same price range as other competitors like trak racer but their rigs are probably the best on the market and the building experience is great

I personally have the r5 and as an amatuer long sim racer, the moza infrastructure is awesome in my opinion. It's a great priced wheel, pedals are decent quality, and you can get load cells for the pedals and you get a great quick release structure. I do wish that moza had a torque booster like fanatec but other than that, I love the moza infrastructure.
