Great video! I've played HTS a few times and I always find that the game ends too quickly. We never seem to be able to get far enough into the game to feel like it was a great play experience. We ended up modifying the game to where you needed to get 6 different heroes and slay 3 monsters. We found that that made the game much more enjoyable.

This has been super helpful, and I agree with everyone else; you put forth great effort in this video, and it's really difficult these days to find people who actually go in depth about the game, so I enjoyed this immensely. Me and my friends play it in a different way, we allow only 5 heroes in a party wich means that all of your heroes serve a porpouse and that you should carefully decide wich ones play and wich ones not play. It makes the game last longer but it also makes items like mask highly valuable, oh and we also didn't have a max item restriction

I got it for my sister and it was a really nice game! I would have to agree that it needed a special extra element of complexity like a game board or some special advantage to the types of heroes you had. It was defiantly a win, but it needed one or two more concepts to make it feel full.

Not sure if they changed it up, but I recently bought the game after this, and it didn’t include any meeples, player mats, or standies :( I liked the aesthetic of them, but maybe they changed it up and I was late to getting this version. I enjoy the game without them as well though, great review!

is there any game that would make a good alternative to this one? I just feel like your idea with the extra map and tasks is realy cool. I just dont know if there actually is any game like that as im quite new to these type of games. I feel like HTS is a good way to start but i dont think that me and my friends would use the outplaying strategies a lot....atleast thats what i noticed with unstable unicorns.

@@TimChuon I tried it and I loved it. It's not everyone's cup of tee but it's definitely unique and fun to play! It follows the same art style as Here to Slay and some of their other games, which only makes the experience better in my opinion.

I have this game with the meeples. We just use them to identify which abilities have been used. I like the but it's not one of the best battle card games I've played. It's a little too easy for people to have run-away wins I find. I recommend trying out Happy Little Dinosaurs from the same publisher though. It's more straightforward game but super quick and easy and a lot of fun in the couple of games I have played.

I see a lot of people talking about how they extend the game by making the win requirement both things. While I get that this may be enjoyable to some, i had no idea it was a house rule. Ultimately it made the game unbearably long as a new-comer. Especially with such long turns where I was left with nothing to do but twiddle my thumbs. Would not recommend that version if you're trying to get someone into the game.

The warrior and druids expansion looks like a solid choice! You get 2 heroes, 31 more cards, and 2 more monsters; i think that's not a bad deal! The dragon sorcerer pack does look interesting as well because it adds a new dynamic, but value-wise, i think warrior and druids look great

This video is pretty but it's almost impossible to get a sense of what the game actually plays like. I mean, for example when you get to your purported "gameplay" section you start talking about your ideas for incorporating the meeples and standees into the game? Could use more substantive content here. Cheers.

I have two criticisms against this game, the first is that in 1vs1 it is very easy to put together a team of 6 classes and win without the opponent being able to prevent it, in my house rules when a player has the 6 classes he must wait until his next turn to win so the opponent has a chance to prevent it, and my second criticism is that the deck has too many cards that are not useful, many heroes that are very weak and not worth rolling dice, useless equipment like masks that are too situational, the challenges are scarce and not very safe and finally the spells, few spells are useful in the game, in the end it is always better to play heroes.
