The nearest ice rink is 2 hours away, so inlines are my only option sadly. But at least it's something, and they're an amazing alternative.

Great video! I am an ice skater and I am thinking on buying off ice skates to be able to practice during the summer. Your way to communicate it's nice and the information you pass is really good! Thanks :)

For one, I’d love to see the ‘learn to skate program’ on inlines and be able to transfer skills onto ice and off ice too. Maybe just watching one video of say the skill on ice and the skill on land then a comparison like ‘remember not to lean as far on x as you will fall’ or something! So I can learn the skills on land or ice? I have brought both and I’m eager to get out and practice! For two, I love your videos and answers you seem like my type of person! But even just learning and practicing forward, backward, edges, swizzles, and half swizzles in a circle, crossovers forward and back etc, things that you can reasonably do in both that aren’t much different in the technique (my coordination is not all there😂) but not taking into account the physical elements of the blade/wheels and terrain if that made any sense??🙈

Gosh i wish i could've done a learn to skate for inlines!😂 (definetly would've saved me tones of bruises from falling all the time haha) I'm a little apprehensive to teach LTS elements and skills though since they're foundational to everything in skating and since I'm self taught, I know my technique is pretty rough around the edges😵💫 i would say that as far as my experience goes, edges and glides are really similar across ice and inline, and often have the same pointers: bend your knees, don't lean towards the pick or you'll stub the ice/pavement, etc

This video helped with alot of questions but I have one question even if you don't see this. What is the main difference of regular inline skates and inline figure skates? I'm having a hard time choosing between the two.
@Hazook3 жыл бұрын
The big difference is the toe stop that allows you to do figure skate spins, jumps, turns, etc. Things like the layout of the wheels, the way the blades are mounted, as well as the structure and type of boots also differ, but they don't effect your skating as much as the toe stop does.

Compare it as driving a manual vs. automatic car. Lol ice is automatic and inlines are manuals. Lol! But yes they are not the same but there are similarities at least to me. But I am having to re-learn some things on inlines for sure. Love this video!

Ahh that’s perfect, thank you! Me too, the three turns still frustrate me a lot to be honest 😂

You can also create a rocker on rollerblades for cheap by buying smaller wheels and putting them on the front and back axles, which lets you do three turns Great video!

Have you tried any of the Jackson in-line skates? I’m a roller blader starting ice skating lessons and want something I little more in tune with practicing off the ice.
@Hazook2 жыл бұрын
I haven't had a chance to try them but since Jackson is a well-trusted figure skating brand, I'd assume their frames are pretty good! They're really similar in style as far as I can tell to Snow Whites!

Can I start of on regular inline skates? I bought a pair of regular ones and now I'm not sure if I should have gotten inline figures instead.
@Hazook2 жыл бұрын
For sure! Practicing anything from being comfy on wheels to crossovers, edges, and control over your ‘blade’ can be learned on regular inlines. Certain jumps and spins won’t be possible, but regular inlines can still be super valuable to practicing skating!

What’s the best reasonably priced inline figure skates u would recommend
@Hazook3 жыл бұрын
Gosh, I don't really think I can; it depends on what you plan to do on them, where you're from, your price range, and frame brand preference depends on the person (kinda like how people prefer different brands of boots like Jackson, EDEA, or Risport over each other, they're all great in their own ways and specialize in different things).

I want to know about commuting outdoors on inline artistic skates (rather than rollerblades)... Only want one pair of skates...and I think rollerblades are ugly.... Quads have been a disaster on hills etc... Would inline artistic skates be ok for like "trail skating"?
@Hazook3 жыл бұрын
From what I've heard (don't take my word on this though, I've never tried quads properly), quads and inline figure skates are pretty similar in feel. Quads are more stable and easy to balance on because of their wheel placement and wheel thickness, but I think the problem you might be having is tripping over your toe stop, which is something that inline figure skates suffer from as well, so they wouldn't help much. Just like how if you're going for speed and distance on ice, you'd choose hockey or speed skates over figure skates, figure-type skates and frames aren't the best for rougher surfaces or higher speeds. I've skated sidewalks before and to be honest, it was more terrifying than anything else I've ever done on inlines😖

Please tell me how you learned a three turn on inlines!
@Hazook3 жыл бұрын
Especially for my backwards threes, there was a lot of gripping onto fences and railings for my dear life😂. Holding a chair or railing while you slowly practice the motions and weight transfers of 3’s were really helpful!

@@Hazook Thanks so much - I also found your 3 turn video...I am just so scared - I can do forward crossovers general stroking, but you are totally right - without turns, you are kind of stuck.

No problem! I’m honestly still scared to do backwards 3’s (especially on my left foot) because I really hate putting my weight on the back wheel😅

Thanks for this video! I've wanted to get into ice skating for so long, it looks so graceful and beautiful. I used to roller blade all the time growing up so I got the balance thing down. I'm 24, though, so time is slipping away and the rinks close by time I get off work so I've been considering just getting off ice skates! I'm hoping it can still be graceful on the wheels since I can't reasonably do ice skating, maybe some day though. 😔 Til then, maybe inlines will be best.
@Hazook3 жыл бұрын
Time isn’t slipping away! You can start inline/figure skating at any age. I think there’s a lady down in the US that started when she was 60 or 70 so you still have plenty of time :) Inline skates are great especially when your schedule doesn’t line up with rink times, but you should check to see if rinks near you do adult skating lessons and/or adult ice time since they can sometimes better accommodate 9-5’s. Btw, I love your Pearl pfp!

@@HazookThank you so much! I have like 4 rinks within driving distance, I'll try to see if they maybe have classes on the weekends! I'm sure I'm just being existential about the age thing haha I'm sure it's never too late! And thank you, I love Steven Universe!

Just a small update: After a month if researching and watching videos upon videos, I finally bought my skates! Decided to go with the Off Ice skates, as they were in my price range and came with a boot as well. I'll honestly probably upgrade the boot at some point, but I think the one it comes with will be fine for now. I'm pretty excited, they should be here early May 😊

I can't find a pros and cons between 3 and 4 wheel inline figure skates anywhere. I understand that 3 wheels means less friction but then the 4 would surely be more like figure skates because of the heel balance but I don't know so if you have any sites or something that has that kind of information or a forum or something I would appreciate it! :) great video thank you!
@Hazook3 жыл бұрын
Sorry, I have no clue. You could try asking the figure skating subreddit maybe?
@LHalford943 жыл бұрын
@@Hazook ooh yeah I hadn't thought about that! I'm guessing 3 probably wins since that's all I can see in most videos and it probably wouldn't be everywhere unless it was superior but I just want the heel support hahaha
