Another solid video. These two cards seem to trade blows depending on the game. I know some of the huge benefits for the RX 5500 XT, as well as the GTX 1650 Super for that matter, is power consumption and noise, but I just wanted to say that the RX 580 and RX 590 are still contenders at this price point if those points are moot. Nice overview. I've been subscribed to you for quite some time. I like the fan noise observations you made - that's certainly something i take into account when purchasing - i don't want something that sounds like a hoover. With auto o/c & throttling depending on temps, your fan performance / efficiency does make a difference. Hardware unboxed did a great review of the 5500 xt and found some intriguing results. For example, you get the same performance from a rx570 but it's loads cheaper i.e. cost per frame is something like 25% less with the 570 compared to the 5500 xt (though of course you're getting old architecture and more power consumption). There's an interesting debate too about the 4 vs 8GB 5500 xt. When looking at 1% lowers @ 1440p, they found no difference in i think 3 of the 12 games but as much as 18% loss in performance in the others, when using the lower VRAM. Additionally they thought the 1650 super edged it because the 5500 xt is underwhelming at the price point. Really difficult to know what to buy.

However, RDNA 1 might yield better overall support for drivers and newer optimizations vs Polaris. Still, my 8gb Sapphire Pulse 580 will do wonders when undervolted and clocked up to like 1425-1450mhz (stock is 1366mhz for this card) paired with a R5 2600 @ 4.1Ghz; 16gb ram @ 3200mhz CL16. 2022 has a lot in store for us AMD users, just hang in there. You cant use TDP as a metric for power consumption. It is a rookie error! For example, some of the new intel chips have a TDP of 65w, yet they pull 225w from the wall when running at stock speeds.

I had the Gigabyte 1650 Super which was pretty silent for the most part. I returned that for a `660 Super when I finally justified the higher price in terms of performance gained. Then the Sapphire Radeon RX 5600 XT was released... did my final swap.

All cards carry a higher price in the UK. There is a 23.5% levee on electronics which is why the UK is one of the most expensive countries for tech and it's why it sucks. Also why I go to Romania, buy cards and bring them back to sell

Should I sell now for < 200 and buy a better GPU closer to September with GPU prices coming down or just keep? I'm going to be on 1080p 144hz and it's paired with a 2700x. :)

5500XT hands down. Similar or higher performance now, and much higher performance later with AMD FineWine. 1650S will obviously only get slower as NVidia slowly abandons it.

You can get a used or refurbished rx 580 for less then $100 now. The performance should be similar to this if not better. I did this and it has been great so far if you don't mind double the power consumption of the 5500

Over here, the PowerColor isn't available, and the cheapest 5500XT is still 25 euros more expensive than the cheapest 1650S. You see a lot of channels (English, American, Austrailian etc) that say "Radeon is cheaper go get that one" , but most of the time when I look at prices here, they're not much different between nVidia or AMD, in this case, the GeForce is in fact a lot cheaper. But also, lot's of Radeons have bad availability, you can order it, but takes days maybe weeks before you get it...except for the more expensive models (same chip, but more expensive model). Still interesting cards, think these low-midrange cards sell better than the bigger cards (5700 series, or 2060/2070 series). Bit suprised it uses an 8 pin connector though...I think AMD could have made it even without a power connector, but they had to clock it all the way to the limit to compete with the 1650S (just like they did with the 5700, which could have been very energy efficient, but they just had to beat the 2070/2070s and clocked it to the limit with high power consumption as a result).

How does it stack up against the R9 Nano, a six inches long card with 4096 shaders, 1GHz GPU clock and HBM from 2015? Also, requires one 8-pin I bought it for $100
