So my question is… if you put the mini 3 pro battery in the mini 4 pro, and the weight goes to 252 grams, does remote ID turn on automatically or do you have to manually turn it on. And if you don’t turn it on, do the drone police come arrest you for 2 grams?

Remote ID is always on, no matter what. I doubt there will be FAA agents walking around with scales, checking for exact weights. 🤔 I hope not, anyway!

So, if remote ID is always on, what is the benefit of having the smaller drone, that you just don’t pay a five dollar registration fee? What’s the big deal. I’m coming from a Mavic air 2. Seriously trying to understand the benefit of going with a 249 g drone

5 bucks and the trouble of sticking your FAA number on it. That's pretty much it.😄 Honestly, it seems arbitrary and a bigger deal than it should be. Putting aside the FAA, the size of these mini drones makes them great for travel AND for not attracting any unwanted attention, due to their low noise.

Appreciate the reply. Great point about the smaller drone. I went from a Mavic Pro (original) to the Air 2, which was a nice size decrease, but now it seems like the Mini 4 Pro has all the same capabilities and more in an even smaller package. Interesting about the remote ID… I thought that part of the desire by so many people getting the sub 250g drone was to avoid remote ID. Learned something new. Thanks.

The dlog-m seems to have slight advantage over the d-cinelike. But not as good a regular dlog

I am not 100% sure, but I think the Mini 3 Pro has silty advantages by tracking you from the behind because its front sensors (no fisheye) have more resolution and see a bit further (0,39- 25m vs. 0,5 - 18m on the Mini 4 Pro)

Hey Kelly! I've had my Mini4Pro since Oct 01. Absolutely love this bug. And of the 3 reasons you cited, the tracking was one of my main reasons for getting it. But there are a few others. The only other drone of the Mini series I had was the Mini SE. Very capable for it's class, and I sold it to a buddy of mine who's 12 year old son is over the moon about flying drones. He had recently crashed his used Phantom 3 after owning it for almost a year. And I had planned on getting the Mini 3 Pro at some point. So battery flight time, tracking, super low noise and Occusync 4 were more than enough incentive for me to get this drone. I shoot A LOT of low light, urban stuff and the Mini4Pro rivals my Evo Lite+ in that dept. I could go on and on...but I'll see you at #spinup2023 on the 21st.

I would keep it for waypoints, 100fps in 4k, the new 360° Tracking options, and better tracking (if it has better tracking - I am not 100% sure about that). The only thing that holds me off is the 120m limitation in the app in the EU. The last firmware brought the 500m back, but I'm very sure that we get the 120m restriction again on 1.1.2024. if you life in the mountains, like me, that destroys the hole mini-series.

Yeah - that sensor position gives it a full 360 view of the world. It really is pretty awesome at tracking. I was not expecting that!

I don't think it is that much of a diff. I just bought the Air 3 so only use the Mini 3 Pro to carry with me daily and Air 3 for special projects and higher winds.

Hello Kelly and Kris. Thank you for your first test flights with the DJI Mini 4 Pro. Since we have winds where we live I'm not going to buy on yet. I didn't bit the bullet on the new Air 3 FM w/ the RC-2 controller which will be delivered on Tuesday. I hope to get a few flight hours on it before bringing it to SpinUp. Nicely Done, Gents! Kelly, great short review on the Mini 4. However, the batteries aren’t exactly the same; they’re the same size, but the mini 4 standard batteries are 2590mah, vs the mini 3 standard batteries being 2453mah; and the mini 4 batteries are slightly lighter in weight. (I think i got that right, lol). Nevertheless, they all seem to be interchangeable between the two drones. #watchoutforwires

All so if you use the mini 3 battery in the mini 4 it takes it over the 249g because they are heavier than the mini 4 battery 🔋 not taking anything away from the video but just thought I’d mention it 👍 but yeah the video showed good reasons to upgrade to the mini 4 pro nice job 👍

From what I've seen, although the mini3 batteries are compatible, they are about 3g heavier than the mini4 batteries.

Better then air 3 tracking much better then air 3, $420 cheaper air 3, will not be as damaged due to size, Better then mini 3, better OA all sides, way points, better tracking, return to home, light at bottom, OC4 no brainer Have you noticed the battery life of the mini 4 plus how long have you gotten? How about range for the 4 have you tested it?

No the batteries are not exactly the same the one of the Mini 4 Pro are a bit stronger and lighter. If you put the batteries of the Mini 3 Pro in to the Mini 4 Pro your aircraft is over 249g

I would gladly buy the Mini 4 as a first drone. I cannot stand those shitty $100 -$300 camera drones that are just poor quality and overhyped. Better to spend the money on a quality drone than waste $300 on a cheapy camera drone and be disappointed.
