Not a bad investment for anyone who can't shell out for legit acoustic panels. Gotta hand it to Elgato, their stuff isn't always the cheapest but in general it's good quality and works.

Even on my little phone speaker, I could definitely hear a difference! I have some 2x2 panels from Audimute, and I stuck them up with the 20lb velcro command strips, lol! Been going strong for months now...*knock on wood* 😅

They look fantastic, maybe perfect for taking off the high end zing. They should not be the only solution other than for zoom calls. I feel they should be accompanied by something that can absorb at least down to 250hz for voice. Both these elgato and the oralex both fail where 2inchs of fibre insulation get down to 500hz and compressing them onto a 2ft x 4 ft or 4ft x 4ft 1/4 inch plywood board will get you down to 250hz and if the board you compress the fibre down to is 8 ft long it will absorb all the way down to 125hz. The best is a 3 inch deep tray with 1/4 inch plywood backing glued and stapled onto the back and fill with 50kg/m3 - 4 inch thick fibre or rockwool batts compressed/ covered with the cloth of your choice (thick cloth looks better), wrapped round and stapled, as long as you can blow through it your good to go. One 4ft x 8 ft panel against the wall behind your screens and one 4 ft x 4 ft either side will be awesome. In each of the front corners you could consider a cylindrical bass trap if you are doing music. The back wall should also have a panel or two if you realize the elgato panels are struggling to stay up on the wall.

I've got phone covering the wall in front of me completely, there's a whole bunch of it on my left side and quite a few pieces of phone behind me that cuts out like a good 90% of the reverb for my room, on the right there's a bed and I got a bunch of pillows and stuff stacked up on it and foam wedges and stuff which will probably help absorb a little more sound but I think the only way to really know how well something like that works would be to cover just about every inch of the wall but I can definitely hear that it made a difference. I wonder how many you would need to hear a significant difference
@DarkCornerStudios6 ай бұрын
Yeah...for the most part...very few will hear a definable difference...but as a reviewer...I guess it is important..lol Too many people pointing it out...so this is the next thing I need to focus on.

I have some of these foam pads, they do work, the elgatos look high quality. My main gripe is getting them to stay up! I have created a reticulated arrangement (a net)of string to stop them falling on me. The net is held in place by thumb tacks. The two sided tape wasn't doing it for me! But my final audio book performance is finally up on Audible. Ima gonna sit back and watch the nickels and dimes trickle in and put that phase of my life behind me. Btw I'm wearing a greenish v neck t today too. Primark?

I just put up one starter set and one expansion set in my recording space last week, and it has done an amazing job so far. I did end up bending one of the plastic tabs, but the gram has held together fine for now (fingers crossed). I noticed the tape coming off the wall on one side of one of the frames, but putting some extra pressure seems to have helped for now. I am considering getting a bunch of actual 3M Command Strips to replace the tape after watching your video though

What about un-faced Polyisocyanurate insulation.? It comes in different thicknesses and sizes. (It's closed-cell, rigid foam insulation, like they sell at Home Depot and Lowes). I don't know if it would work for your application, but it would be way quicker and cheaper.

A humble reminder to always check how panels rate in terms of safety, i.e. how do they deal with fire. Some cheaper “brands” fail horribly in this regard. Elgato likely has a decent rating. Me, I love the sound blankets. Ugly as a coyote but flexible.

I missed last Friday's live; however, I know there is a bit of a troll here; YOU CAN ABSOLUTELY TELL A DIFFERENCE ON A MAC PRO SPEAKERS. However, the difference is more pronounced in real listening configurations. However, I will stay with this; regardless of the end users' limitations, the efforts will show. And im so sick in tired of audio snobs getting lost in the facts that nothing beats quality capture, and can make garbage outputs still sound a bit better.
@_SR375_6 ай бұрын
Also, Elgato, make the brackets available as a 3d print STL< beef up the print, and include real 3m tape; people will pay a bit more for the quality... aide note, making the STLs available will allow people to experiment on the spacing between the wall and the materials.
