u4 is my favourite game of all time, but imo combat peaked on uncharted 3. Tightest gunplay and melee, and best level design. I played the shipyard encounter on crushing and it was mindblowing how many ways you could approach the enemies with.

the aiming in 3 felt very clunky to me, it was the only uc that felt like that to me. it was almost like it didn't want to let you aim in some spots, like your reticle would get pushed over a little, i can't fully explain it. uc1 actually felt a little like that too. 2 was the easiest to quickly and precisely aim. i did like the way the melee was handled in 3, an improved version of that would have been better, 4 actually feels like a bit of a downgrade. uc4 melee was supposed to be an improved version of tlou, but i thought the melee in tlou was better personally. it was more challenging and when you hit triangle to push them back and interrupt enemy attacks, you had to be really quick, in uc4 and LL you have all the time in the world, i don't think i ever once failed to hit triangle in time, and i only play them on crushing mode.

Best review I’ve seen if this game! Wish you would have elaborated more on the amount of action vs traversal this game has, I’ve been playing it for a few hours and not nearly enough action yet.
@Jack_80
@Jack_80 Жыл бұрын
there's not nearly enough action period. uc4 is the worst for replayability because there are so many slow story sections in the game, that become extremely tedious after beating it a couple times. really disappointing because uc4 has the best combat and combat arenas, but there aren't nearly enough of them for how long the game is. i swear uc4 is like twice as long as 1-3 but has the least amount of action out of all of them.

@@jimmyjimbla7950 I get it. I liked uncharted 4 as well. But to be honest I waited a long time before playing lost legacy. I also replayed the trilogy so I got a bit too much of uncharted. On the other hand I cannot complain about my backlog so I always have something to play. Finished A plague tale requiem. I went back to ghost of Tsushima. Horizon forbidden west was also lying on the shelf for too long 😉

I've wanted to play this series, but heard you should start with the first and work through them chronologically. Is it necessary to play the first games before jumping into the collection?
@JacksGameReviews
@JacksGameReviews 2 жыл бұрын
I knew I forgot to mention that god damn it Ok so it’s not super necessary but you would benefit from it. The only characters that make a return from previous games is sully and elena everyone else first appears in uncharted 4 so if you can’t play the first 3 but really want to play 4 id say look up a quick summary of the first 3 games for the dynamic between nate elena and sully but other than that everything else doesn’t matter imo. It will make the story more satisfying if you play the first 3 but it’s not necessary. Still a great game on its own

Personally I consider the Uncharted-style design approach of "cinematic gaming" to be a completely understandable misstep in the evolution of videogames that misunderstands what makes them such an amazing form of media and instead opts to emulate the strengths of an entirely different artform. That said, _if_ you're going to make one of these cinematic games, then doing it the way the Uncharted series did is just about the perfect approach. Charm over complexity, spectacle over challenge - anything to keep the movie rolling along, essentially. Nothing to get hung up on and a lot to enjoy.
@JacksGameReviews
@JacksGameReviews 2 жыл бұрын
I totally get that. They tend to go for cinematic gaming rather than gaming itself ya know I love it personally but so many games are copying them now which is resulting in a loss of innovation I guess. Gotta see where the industry goes in the next decade

i much prefer the way gow and horizon do it than uc4. those games both have deep stories but manage to tell them without slowing down the game the way uc4 does frequently. uc4 is a great game but extremely tedious to replay because there are so many slow story segments and far less action than the previous uc games. i think it was bs they switched writers to put that woke moron in there at the last second. uc4 may have been pretty good, but he ruined tlou2 with his woke retardation and i honestly expect him to make another uc game with nate's daughter in it and make her a lesbian, with that being the main focus of the game. many game developers are starting to heavily push this woke crap now, and it's ruining the industry.

@@Jack_80 U4 is pretentious....it could have been so much better if someone had slapped the woke director and told him to write a good adventure experience rather than the "heavy pretentious" story that we ended up getting. I think Cuckmann has a boner for "Strong Women" types like Nadine.

Alright, gather around, gamers. It's time to rip this joke of a game to shreds. You see, I’ve held my tongue long enough, but now it’s time to let loose. Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End is the biggest letdown in the entire series. Yeah, I said it. And if you actually like this game, congratulations-you’ve just outed yourself as A FRAUD. okay that was a joke but, this game is everything that’s wrong with gaming today: weak characters, nonsensical plotlines, forced feminist propaganda, and a betrayal of everything the Uncharted series once stood for. Let’s dive into this trash fire because there’s a LOT to unpack here. The Fall of Nathan Drake First, let’s talk about the man himself: Nathan Drake. Or should I say, Nathan “I can’t even land a punch” Drake. What the hell happened to our guy? In Amy Hennig’s Uncharted, Nate was a beast-jumping on helicopters, planes, and trains, dodging bullets, and always coming out on top like the badass we all knew and loved. But in Uncharted 4, Nate is a weak, watered-down version of himself. He spends half the game walking around, climbing like it’s a retirement hobby, and getting his ass handed to him by Nadine, a character who’s so laughably overpowered it feels like a bad joke. This isn’t the Nate we grew up with. This is a Nate who’s been nerfed, stripped of his humor, his strength, and his edge. He’s a boring, fragile shell of the character Amy Hennig created, and it’s an insult to fans of the series. The Femenist Agenda Now, let’s address the elephant in the room: Neil Druckmann’s feminist propaganda. This dude hijacked the series and shoved his agenda down our throats. Let’s be real, when Amy Hennig was in charge, she created good female characters like Elena and Chloe who were realistic and complementary to Nate’s story. But Neil? Oh no, he had to go full woke. Enter Nadine, the most ridiculous character in the entire series. She’s supposed to be super-tough who can beat Nate and Sam without breaking a sweat. Really? In what world does this make sense? In real life, someone like Nadine wouldn’t last five minutes in the situations this game throws her into. She’s nothing more than a forced attempt at empowerment that falls flat on its face. And then there’s Elena. Remember when she used to respect Nate’s decisions and actually felt like a supportive obedient partner? Not anymore. In Uncharted 4, she’s constantly nagging, arguing, and undermining him at every turn. It’s like Neil went out of his way to make her as insufferable as possible. The Story: A Mess of Retcons Oh boy, the story. Where do I even begin? Let’s start with the fact that Nate suddenly has a brother, Sam, who was never mentioned in the first three games. Why? Because Neil Druckmann needed a cheap plot device to justify this mess of a game. Sam’s introduction feels forced, and his character is nothing more than a selfish clown who drags Nate into his problems. Then there’s Sully, who’s been reduced to a glorified cameo. In the original trilogy, Sully was like a father to Nate, but in Uncharted 4, he’s just a side character who barely does anything. It’s disrespectful to the legacy of the series. And let’s not forget Rafe, the game’s main villain. This guy is supposed to be some rich dude obsessed with Henry Avery’s treasure, but his motivations are laughably weak. He’s one-dimensional, unrealistic, and utterly forgettable. The plot itself is a snooze-fest. Half the game is a walking simulator with boring climbing segments that add nothing to the experience. The treasure hunt is uninspired, the pacing is slow, and the big “emotional” moments feel hollow and unearned. The Gameplay: A Step Backward The gameplay? Trash. Plain and simple. It’s a boring mix of walking, climbing, and mediocre combat. Sure, the stealth mechanics are decent, but that’s about it. The shooting is okay, but nothing groundbreaking. And don’t even get me started on the final battle with Rafe. It’s laughably bad and feels more like a quick-time event than an actual sword fight. every time nate gets an opening he uses his fists instead of the sword. unrealistic. The only good thing here is the graphics, which admittedly look stunning. But good graphics are not the only things that make good game. This is style over substance at its worst. The Ending: A Disgrace And then we get to the ending. Nate retires, has a daughter, and everyone lives happily ever after. Yawn. This ending feels like it belongs in a Hallmark movie, not an Uncharted game. It’s a weak, unimaginative conclusion that does nothing to redeem the garbage that came before it. The Verdict "So what’s the final word on Uncharted 4? It’s a betrayal of everything the series once stood for. It’s a game that spits in the face of fans who supported this franchise from the beginning. The characters are trash, the story is trash, the gameplay is boring, and the feminist propaganda is off the charts. The only thing this game has going for it is the graphics, and even that can’t save it from being a disaster. I’m giving it a 2/10, and honestly, that’s me being generous. This isn’t an Uncharted game-it’s Neil Druckmann’s self-insert fanfiction. And if you think otherwise, you’re either blind, brainwashed, or both. Stay mad, gamers. Alright, let’s just get to uncharted: Lost Legacy here. If you actually think Uncharted: The Lost Legacy is a good game, you’re either blind, brainwashed, or just straight-up stupid. This isn’t Uncharted. This isn’t the series Amy Hennig built. This is Neil Druckmann’s trashy fan fiction dressed up as an Uncharted game, and it’s embarrassing. I am warning y’all about Uncharted 4, but this? This is the nail in the coffin. This is the moment the series completely lost its soul. Let’s break it down, step by step, so you can see exactly why this game is trash. The Characters: Forced and Forgettable First up, let’s talk about the “main characters.” Chloe Frazer and Nadine Ross. Remember Chloe from Uncharted 2? She was fun, sly, and had actual chemistry with Nate. But in Lost Legacy, Chloe is turned into this bland, watered-down shell of her former self. Why? Because Neil Druckmann can’t write a good character to save his life. She spends most of the game running around trying to act tough, but it’s not convincing at all. And then there’s Nadine. Oh, boy. Nadine Ross is the absolute worst. she is nothing but another one of Neil’s forced feminist insertions. She’s overpowered, unlikable, and completely unrealistic. Like, how are we supposed to believe that this woman, who somehow beat both Nate and Sam in Uncharted 4, is now suddenly buddy-buddy with Chloe? The whole partnership makes no sense. And let’s not forget Sam Drake. They turned him into a complete clown in this game. He’s supposed to be Nate’s brother, yet here he’s treated like some third-rate comic relief sidekick. It’s insulting. he should be the main character. The Villain: Who Even Cares? Now let’s talk about the villain. Actually, screw that-what villain? The antagonist in this game is so forgettable, I had to Google his name to even remember it. Oh yeah, it’s Asav. What does Asav want? Something about ancient artifacts and starting a war. Who cares? He has zero personality, zero depth, and zero presence. Compare this to villains like Lazarevic or Guerro from the original games. Those characters had charisma. They had an impact. Asav? He’s just there to fill a checkbox. The Gameplay: Boring and Repetitive Let’s be real, the gameplay is trash. It’s like Neil took everything that was boring about Uncharted 4 and doubled down on it. Half the game is walking, climbing, and solving bland puzzles that feel like chores. The combat? Stale and uninspired. Stealth is fine, but it gets old fast. And don’t even get me started on the set pieces. Where’s the excitement? Where’s the adrenaline? And the final fight? Complete garbage. It’s just another uninspired, overhyped moment that falls flat on its face. The Story: An Absolute Joke Now for the story. Oh, wait-what story? There’s nothing here. It’s just Chloe and Nadine running around India, looking for the Tusk of Ganesh while making awkward, forced attempts at “bonding.” The writing is so bad, it’s painful to sit through. Every line of dialogue feels like it’s trying way too hard to be funny or emotional, and it just doesn’t work. And the worst part? This game had the audacity to slap the Uncharted name on it. Where’s the heart? Where’s the fun? This isn’t Uncharted. This is Neilcharted. This is Neil Druckmann’s agenda-driven nonsense masquerading as an adventure game. The Length: Barely a Game The game is way too short. It feels like a glorified DLC that somehow got turned into a standalone title. It’s over before it even begins, and there’s no reason to ever replay it. The Verdict *"So what’s the final verdict? This game is a disgrace to the Uncharted series. It’s everything wrong with modern gaming rolled into one forgettable package. The characters are trash, the story is trash, the gameplay is trash, and the villain is nonexistent. The only good thing about this game is that it’s short, so the pain doesn’t last too long. If you’re a real gamer, do yourself a favor and skip this abomination. For me, the Uncharted series ended with Uncharted 3. Everything after that is just Neil Druckmann’s fan fiction. Lost Legacy gets a generous 1/10 from me, and that’s only because I can’t give it a zero. Neil, if you’re reading this, I hope you’re proud of yourself because you’ve ruined one of the greatest gaming franchises of all time.

Everybody just jerks off to this 'pretentious' game because of graphics.....which for PS4 in 2016 were utterly amazing...no questions about that....but the story could have been so much better than what and how it was presented. The characters and their interactions weren't 'complex'....they were very basic.....the bar is set very low when it comes to stories in either movies or games.....especially the action adventure variety. Rafe wasn't 'complex'...he was just a rich entitled kid living off his dads money.....they could have done SO MUCH more with his character instead of presenting him as a spoilt kidult. Nadine was totally forgettable, unbearable(even more so in TLL with her constant asinine comments) and unnecessary...but they had to have a "bad ass strong independent 'smart talking' women" in the mix......incidentally both she and Rafe got a ready made business handed to them by daddy dearest. Sam was basically Nate 0.5.....i.e Nate without his thrilling adventurous life....but I personally liked him as a character. Sully was as he was in all the previous Uncharted games....a fit father figure. Nate and Elena's relationship/marriage is literally EXACTLY like millions of other couple's all over the world....boredom setting in due to the routine nature of job-life after the initial 'thrill' of the honeymoon wears off. Now the VO's of almost everyone were uniformly of high quality....except the god awful Nadine. The story was definitely much more the focus in U4 compared to the action-action-action frenzy of the past entries, and so the sedate pace made sense. All levels taken independently were beautifully crafted....but suffered in pacing when taken as a whole. Scotland was fantastic because of the desolate nature of the landscape. Libertalia was EXACTLY how I imagined a long lot tropical pirate city to be like....and it was a joy just navigating through it. Despite my comments above I did enjoy the game back when I played it on my PS4 slim....it was a fun ride....and that is how I see it.....NOT the "BEST game EVER" that most PS owners were jerking off to.
