I don’t own multiple wedges so I’m used to using a 7 iron whenever there are no hazards between the ball and hole. I like to get the ball rolling as soon as possible. I definitely need to work on wedges though as my confidence levels plummet when I have a bunker between the ball and the flag.

Got to love the 7 iron bump and run. It’s not used enough I don’t think

@@AlexElliottGolf I hit this shot with 6 iron more than 7, old man loved hitting 6 iron and when I got my first full set I favoured either 8 or 6 rather than 7 (dad was off 2.3 at the time so thought he must know what he's doing)

I use from 8i through my four wedges...the 60 degree lob very seldom . The rule of 12 is very effective for longer bump and run, for short shots of a couple yards on and a couple yards roll I use what feels right! Short game is key, and everyone should practice a wide variety of shots with different clubs.

3 - 46/52/58 fitted vokeys, may have to change tho based on gapping when I change irons soon. Nice vid 👍

Thanks Alex. Another helpful video. It seems there is so much pressure about wedges and what you should have in the bag. Maybe just irons, PW & SW would make it all a bit easier.

thank you so much!! i think keep it as simple as possible

If nothing in between me and the hole, from the fringe I always bump & run with the PW, 8 or 6 iron depending on distance: those shots never let me down. Otherwise, LW or SW depending on how many much green I can work with, but these are trickier and chunks or thins come into play more often.

Carry 4, although 3 specialist wedges, 50, 54, 60 and pw at 44°, if anything I hit more chip shots with a hybrid than I do 60° wedge

Ah the ole Texas Wedge. Lee Trevino style. Also need to know ratio between AIR time and run out length for each club. There was a nice grid on Golf.com site awhile ago for each club and corresponding ratio.. PW will fly xxx feet from fringe of green "and" roll out xxx feet. My go to club is an 8 iron... for the ole bump and run... often used my 65 degree wedge and bladed it 60 feet behind green.. oops.

What wedges do I really need? Have P, 52,56 and 60 today. I will look for a new set this year. Was thinking to skip the 52.

Should be an 8 iron ...15yrs ago it was a 7iron but now the lofts have changed so modern day 8s are the same as the old 7iron which was used for the bump and run...use your 8 now a days , gotta change and grow with the times man
