Having your own website is the only way to present your photos in the way you want and that you control. There is no other option on the internet for this. No platform gives you full possibilities and freedom in the way of presenting your works (photos), other than your own website. I believe, despite the fact that social media has taken over us, that every photographer should have his own website. Regardless of whether it is to earn money or be just a rarely visited online business card.

I agree, for many it makes sense but I think it's important to understand why you are making a website to be sure the time and effort is worth it. I don't think it's required for everyone, many would likely not have a need for one even though many others would.

Definitely hear ya on the abundance of stagnate websites that stop getting update. Yet, I still always just feel unsatisfied with only seeing images on insta so like to always check out websites if people have them. I guess my perspective is that if someone puts in the dedication to and effort to their wildlife photography they might as well go through the extra step of displaying it it’s best I know for most of us who don’t have a need for a website other than a portfolio are only going to get visits from other nature photography nerds, so maybe it is impractical, but I guess my photography is just impractical in general anyway haha

Totally agree there are advantages to the website, I just think it's not for everyone is all. I think if you know what you are getting into then it all makes sense.
