If u wanna improve ur grades in English wut really helped me was analysing quote on a document on a laptop and analysed everyhting thoroughly so when it came to the test I jus had to remember the already well thought out analysis and then link back to question this is coming from a person who a grade 9 and for maths watch gcse maths tutor absolute saviour went from a 4 in yr 11 to a grade 8 2 marks away from a 9 in my gcse cannot rate and recommend gcse math tutor enough watch every one of his videos

@@hijabiixgirll this is one of the essays i wrote that got full marks j you can use the point or Whtever since I’m done with gcse but the essay also includes some comments from my teacher so u can ignore that as it’s not part of the original essay and for math all I can say is watch all of gcse math tutor videos especially the grade 9 videos and 7-9 video as even though it can be tricky watching it helps u understand how to think about tough questions and work through them and I’m gonna cut the essay into different comments as I can’t do it all in one go hope this helps! How far does Shakespeare present the Macbeth as a powerful character? At the beginning of the play Shakespeare perhaps purposefully presents Macbeth’s Macbeth to be to embodying the ideal traits of a man in Jacobean England as he was brave heroic and importantly loyal. His power therefore lies in his loyalty to his country and his strong morals - be sure to use the word from the question e.g. power However the downfall of the tragic hero Macbeth due to his harmatia, ambition led him to become nihilistic and tyrannical while ironically he is king but yet seems to be powerless in his mental state. Nice point here - thoughtful engagement with question! Shakespeare perhaps shows this dramatic contrast in Macbeth’s fate to maybe to convey how too much ambition is detrimental to not only one’s power and status but morals which inevitably lead to the abandonment of religion and hence loyalty to the king which would be forbidden in the Jacobean era. Hence such overlapping power in man may be perceived to be immoral for someone of not the likes of the king to hold as we see from Macbeth leading to disruption of the natural order in the regicide of king Duncan, but will ultimately always be restored as Malcom becomes king in the end. Great overall response to question - well done for showing awareness of the ending of the play and how Macbeth’s power is reduced to nothing and for integrating contextual knowledge here! Shakespeare purposefully portrays the protagonist Macbeth’s in the beginning as powerful and valiant soldier to perhaps convey how power and status can instantly be stolen by transgressing your limits and going against nature such as Macbeth murdering king Duncan. Nice - thoughtful point! This is evident as the Scottish soldier is described to have “Unseamed him from the naves to the chaps” of traitor. Shakespeare employs Macbeth as a construct to advocate the ideal Scottish soldier who embodies power and importantly morals and loyalty to the king .The use of violent imagery creates an image of the strength and power of the character Macbeth. This is significant as Jacobean audience would admire these heroic, loyal and powerful traits of Macbeth as at the time such violence would be glamorised as a man would would be expected to be masculine and violent and shows the brave and loyal traits Macbeth once showed at the start of the play. Awareness of play as a whole consistently shown - well done Macbeths strength is emphasised by the verb “umseamed” as this have connotation to ‘sewing’ which highlights how easy and effortless the murder of the traitor. This effortless murder of the traitor suggest how easy it is for Macbeth to murder and how it does not strain him further emphasising his power. This is significant as wee see these powerful and heroic traits of Macbeth get tarnished as he becomes disloyal and powerless which is ironic as becoming king would suggest a gain of power. Shakespeare perhaps links Macbeth’s loss of power later in on in the play as he becomes king to perhaps convey how harm against the king is immoral and inevitably leads to the downfall of Macbeth as harm against the king is harm against the god which would be forbidden and condemned by the Jacobean audience. Additionally, the fate of a traitor transgressing their use power against the king is evident as we see a traitors “Fixed his head upon our battlements”. The use of cyclical structure of traitors head could suggest how the regicide of a king will have deep consequence and the disruption of the natural order will always be restored. This is evident as we see at the end the death of Macbeth could be symbolic of the natural order has been restored as Macbeth’s power has been revoked from him, as it ended on a traitors head on a stick linking to the beginning. Shakespeare perhaps purposefully does this as deterrence to to the Jacobean Audience as regicide and transgression of power will inevitably lead to consequence such as death. This links the gunpowder plot as the guy Fawkes attempted to assassinate king James but failed and consequently was murdered. Impressive work Saima! I really like that you compared this moment to the ending of the play, noting that a cyclical structure is used and considering how it works to emphasise that Macbeth becomes what he once fought against - great analysis! Shakespeare later on in the play after Macbeth murderer king Duncan, presents Macbeth as desperate which and consumed in guilt which is significant as it suggests Macbeth’s desire to become king and powerful has not truly been accomplished as it has been tainted by his conscience and morals. This is evident as he attempts to wash of the blood from his hand as he questions “Will all Neptune’s oceans wash this blood clean from my hands” Macbeths almost instant guilt which is symbolised by king Duncan’s blood, linking to Shakespeare’s message of the how there are consequences as Macbeth is experience emotional torment. Definitely - great choice of quote This is emphasised by the hyperbole “Neptune oceans” the use of the Roman god “Neptune” is effective as it expresses the immense guilt and regret by Macbeth. Kings Duncan’s blood is symbolic of Macbeth’s guilt and he is not able to “wash” away this blood as he is unable to bring back Duncan from the dead. The “light” could be symbolic of god and light is associated with ‘goodness’ and omnipresence of god . Furthermore, we see Macbeth acknowledges what he is about to do it atrocious when he describes he desire as “deep” and “dark”. The use of these adjectives are effective as it has connotations to evil or asking to be hidden as you would be hidden in the dark. This is signifanct as the “dark” is a direct contrast of the light which suggest that “dark” is symbolic of the corruption by the witches as he abandons the “ light” and his good Christian morals he has at the beginning. Excellent, thoughtful consideration of multiple layers to this quote - well done! Shakespeare does to show how you can be swayed by your own selfish desires and external forces, as they will only lead to your demise. Shakespeare’s message integrated - implicit awareness of context shown Additionally, Macbeth’s plead to the external forces shows that he to some extent is powerless as he wishes not to be exposed. Later on in the play we also see Macbeth to not be in control and powerless to his paranoia as a result of killing king Duncan. Yes - a great point! He is totally out of control/powerless to these intrusive, paranoid thoughts at this point, I agree! This is evident as his mind is “full of scorpions”. The use of the noun “scorpions” is effective at illustrating the pain Macbeth’s is in from his paranoia suggesting a sense of powerlessness to his thoughts as “scorpions” have connotations to harm and pain suggests Macbeth feels this way about his thoughts and suggest he might feel powerless if he does not kill his friend Banquo. Definitely - he feels that he will lose all power if he doesn’t do this Macbeths escalation of cowardice and madness is emphasised as not only does he kill his best friend but Macduff’s wife and children. This is signifanct as the murder of a woman and child would be shocking as they are perceived to be vulnerable and needed to protected in society, hence harmless to Macbeth which is significant as it highlights Macbeth’s Tyranny as he feels threatened by a woman and child which would be laughable as a woman and child at the time would be seen an weak further emphasising how powerless Macbeth feels that he feels he need to kill anyone to feel safe as “to be thus is nothing, but to be safely thus”. Additionally, near the end of the play we see Macbeth become totally powerless and nihilistic as he becomes hopeless about life. This is evident when he says “out , out , brief candle!” The repetition of “out” suggest that Macbeth is desperate and nihilistic and is no longer in control of himself and he becomes nihilistic and tyrannical. The use of phrases “brief candle” could be symbolic of Macbeth’s short lived claim and happiness to throne emphasised by the word “brief”. Shakespeare perhaps makes this link to Macbeth and the candle to suggest that Macbeth’s want for power to become king was tainted from the beginning as harm against the king always has consequences and will never end well and restore back to the natural order of Malcom becoming king. Excellent range of quotes and inferences here which show strong knowledge of the text and engagement with the question! In conclusion, Shakespeare presents Macbeth’s in the beginning as a powerful character to highlight how loyalty to the king is important in resigning that power and as soon as you become disloyal we see that Macbeth loses his power and control in his mental state as well as becomes tyrannical and nihilistic. Perfect! This is exactly the type of overall interpretation we want because it shows understanding of the text as a whole as well as Shakespeare’s message/intentions! 30/30 4/4 FANTASTIC! Hi Nada! I'm aiming to do dentistry for uni so I picked chemistry and biology. However for my third subject I'm stuck between psychology or maths. I achieved a grade 8 in gcse maths but I don't like the subject and I don't feel confident in it : I worked really hard to achieve the 8 because I'm not naturally good at maths so Im worried taking maths will mean achieving a grade I'm not happy with. At the same time, I know maths is a 'respected' and 'facilitating' a level and I feel like doing psychology which is not facilitating may limit me if I decide to do medicine instead (I know for medicine almost every applicant does maths)

I'll be taking A level chemistry becoz i need it for uni but tbh i used to hate the subject and i went from getting 5s in my mocks to getting a 9 in my exam (A levels is an entirely different matter), I changed my mindset towards chem and i think thats what helped most but im more unsure than ever coz ill be doing my a levels online due to circumstances inshaa Allah it will work out... i do enjoy chem tho when i understand 😊

As a history student notes are vital and make sure to keep track of orders of events. Maybe organise your notes/flashcards between certain dates. for sciences i say focus on exam questions as much as possible and only do posters and flashcards if you struggle with certain parts of content.

Hi Nada, when you did old past papers for Chemistry as revision, how far did you go? Like did you do the last 10 years or more/less?

I've seen ppl advise that u should do practise questions up to 10 years ago as they could repeat patterns or questions

No I tutored and had a KZbin channel so that took a lot of time I’d just do that out of revision hours

nada help me out, im in the process of re strategizing my study methods and im gonna start a levels soon. i make notes during o leves for chemistry (NOT those colorful ones aesthetic purpose ones) i made them to build my information source/whenever i wanna revise i know where i should regain the information so i did read/used my notes aloot throughout. along that i also practiced actively with anki flashcards and practiced past papers. i wanna ask, if u didnt make notes where do you study or even remember the content you studied? personally textbooks are very heavy and takes a long of time for me to go through to absorb the content so i cant solely depend on the textbooks, do you think the online notes people make r sufficient/trustable for revision? im kind of stucked on making notes or building flashcards since i did both during o level but im not sure if i have enough time to do both again on a levels due to the heavy content, what do u think? (im doing bio n chem!)
