Hi, I would like to understand why 99.9% of the casting directors are not confirming the reception of our self tape, we actors are working very hard so that casting directors have something to show to producers/directors etc.. And the least they can do is to tell us "thank you, we have received your self tape" and "sorry not this time" We of course understand that you cannot give us feedbacks. But Equity is clear on that, you must confirm the reception and tell us if we got the part or not.

Well if they even just said if they had received it or not that would be great. Then they wouldn't have to respond about getting the part or not. Cuz then obviously u would know when they didn't followup that u didn't get the part. But knowing that they received it would be a great help.

I agree - a read receipt would go a LONG way. Especially since many casting directors ask for different formats and we just want to make sure it was received and in a format that is viewable/ideal for them. I generally do follow-up after a week just to confirm that they received it. It's tough to gauge because each production takes different amounts of time for casting.

You know what would be great? If you could make a collection of the best self tapes you've ever received. Probably totally illegal (so yeah, shot in the dark) but it would help so many if you showed us what made the cut/got your attention. There's self-tapes for the Notebook, House, Precious, etc. actors have watched but honestly I have seen self-tapes that were 'ok' and still got the actor the gig. Anyway my 2 cents because I think self-tapes are an art form in themselves.
