Man that’s insane that Placido is your cousin. I’m a brown belt getting back to strength training after years off lifting. Been seeing Placido in the Danaher videos for years and have now been enjoying your videos while getting back to it. Also bought some strength co plates and enjoying those as well!

Until you can squat 4 plates, dead lift 5 plates, bench 3 plates, and press 2 plates, don't be concerned about weight. Kill weakness first!

Fact check: Grant told me to gain 30lbs, my body was so emaciated that it gained 50. Right now I’m above 50lbs of weight gain. I’ve had a few say I’m on steroids but that’s a compliment to Grant if I ever heard one 😅

I'm sure that most of this audience have some respect or admiration for Rip. I myself included. But the reality is that rip most of the time leave some questions on the air and it's difficult for some people try to interpret the information. I love this guy. Along with Andy Baker, Grant is one of the best coaches I've seen in the matter that these guys are GREAT at explaining the reality of strength training in the general public. Not everyone is going to be bitten by the iron bug and most people will search many different kinds of training just because of boredom or tendency. Thank you very much for making all these points clear for everyone. Enjoy your training everyone!

If you are hungry - EAT. Quality food no junk. If you are training heavy you’ll be hungry. Milk is good - I use Fairlife. Don’t get fat, put on quality size. Unless you are competing in weight class powerlifting competition who really care how much you weigh.

I really wish I knew how to eat. I'm fat at 6'00" 235 lbs and completely detrained (haven't been under a bar for several years). I gave up before because I couldn't figure the diet out, or at least that's the excuse I told myself. I'm ready to get back at it. If I'm fat, should I still be in a slight surplus of calories, or should I be around maintenance? Hope you can help, and thanks a bunch.

I would focus on getting stronger more than whether or not you are in caloric surplus. I think you can always look at the nature of your calories. if you are like me - 6' and 235 - I would like to stay close to the same weight, but increase muscle and decrease fat. Progressive strength training is key, along with enough protein to feed your muscles in their recovery from tough workouts. Depending on your research, you will need around 1 gram per pound of bodyweight. I don't eat that much protein, but I can still make gains, and I know that I should incorporate more good sources of protein...cut out the garbage calories, and you will be more successful. good luck

I am a 5'11'' amateur boxer, assuming I don't want to get my bodyweight over 170 and I want to train strength 2 times per week, what should my numbers look like? Here's my best guess: 350 Deadlift 260 Squat 210 Bench press and 130 Press Is this too ambitious given my height and weight or, on the contrary, I might be aiming too low?
@rinkuhero
@rinkuhero Жыл бұрын
imo for someone 5'11 and 170 lbs those numbers are aiming too low on squat and deadlift, but aiming too high on bench press and press. i was 6'2 and 160 lbs at one point, and my numbers at that time easily beat the squat and deadlift numbers you have, but i couldn't do anywhere near that for bench press and overhead press. the upper body lifts are much more reliant on bodyweight than the lower body lifts.

he man i have a question you said youre weak if you cant squat your bodyweight but is it normal that i squat 100 kgs for 5 reps but deadlift 155 kgs for 5 reps is there maybe an imbalance of weak quads or something? i wanna get my squat higher iam eating all day long around 5k a day i need that for my skinny posture iam very tall with long legs but if i do legg press or something with some friends who are squatting more than me i do the same weight as them with legg press hows that?
@ladislavbandy5887
@ladislavbandy5887 Жыл бұрын
Hey Hans, everybody is strongest on the leg press, you are pushung against a support... The squat is the most tricky in regards of balance, low bar/ high bar... Its less scary to go heavy on a deadlift vs the squat at.least for me, make sure you squat in a cage or with spotter arms set up .. with more squat training you should improve your ratio...

What is considered “under weight”? Biologically speaking we are hunter gathers and are designed to be fairly light. The Hazda in Tanzania are a perfect example. I am 5’11 and weigh anywhere between 150-160 Ibs. I am considered a hard gainer because I am not about eat eat a bunch of junk food or GOMAD just to get bigger.

I’m more or less the same as you (5.7) honestly I’m leaning towards cutting maybe 10-15lbs, just lift and eat plenty of protein while in a deficit, then ultimately I’ll bulk again
