Big props on a shaft with a big torquey engine is a great feeling in addition to none of the heeling you sometimes get in turns with ips. It’s shafts for me. Still of the view that ips primarily is a tool to get more wealthier people on a boat rather than a solution to an actual problem. Less complexity is almost always better on a boat.

When you stepped down from the rest behind the helm my lyons rumbled Dan - Daniel 😘

Great review Dan. New to the channel and like your ‘play by play’… put’s us right there with you. Would love to see you behind the helm of another great Italian builder; Absolute. Anything between their 58 and 68 range (preferably the Navetta rage) would give us a fulsome comparison!

Nice objective review on shaft vs IPS Dan - thanks! IPS pods are not the cheapest to install or service and simple is better often. So integrated control is narrowing the advantage IPS have.
@BoatLife_DansBoatLife10 ай бұрын
Cheers - yes they definately have is disadvantage when it comes to running costs. However the fuel burn and accuracy around the dock is a real advantage. I've tested a few shaft boats with intergrated control through thrusters and it's good but not as accurate as the newer Volvo IPS with Dock Assist. But as always it's not a simple decision as I can see a place in the market for both systems and it generally comes down to the experience of the skipper and how much help he or she will get from crew.

Hi Dan, the Azimut is a really nice boat but I am one of those who doesn't want a fly. We live central south coast UK near Southampton. Have you ever done a review of the Elling E6? If you have could please post the vid, if you get offered the chance to view one I'd love to see you take on this self-righting boat that will cross the Atlantic. Love your videos, keep em coming.

Agree - would be very interested in a review of the Elling E6
@BoatLife_DansBoatLife11 ай бұрын
That's the Dutch built boats I think? You see a lot of boats in that style at Dusseldorf Boat Show. I have never seen anything like that in the Southern Hemisphere (where I am at the moment) so would need to wait until I get North again. When you guys reach out to the factories and dealers and ask for me to test their boats it really opens doors and gets me on more boats. Many of the dealers and factories are not watching KZbin so I need to get out and meet them before they lend me their boats. Except for Australia where I know everyone.

The older version E6 Ultimate was at the 2019 Southampton boat show, but I couldn't get there. The new boat is the E6 Highline and is a Beauty.

It doesn't have to even be IPS, New pod engines like the Azimut has are also more efficient! LARGE POD 4600 developed by Azimut in partnership with ZF in the Azimut 26 mertri

IPS pr PODS are way easier docking the boat as well!

Surely maintenance for shaftdrive is cheaper?
@BoatLife_DansBoatLife11 ай бұрын
Correct, the maintenance is cheaper and the driving experience is very different. Many guys will actually prefer shafts ifs that’s what they have had in the past. If you’ve come from outboards however you may like IPS more than shafts so it’s not like it’s one solution fits all

Volvo anything is just a "when it works, it's awesome" sorta thing. I'd shove big Yanmars in there if they'd oblige.
@BoatLife_DansBoatLife11 ай бұрын
Volvo are known for excellent communication in the design phase for many large builders and it's things like this that will sway a builder to preference one engine brand over another. I had a Yanmar on my last boat and she never let me down.

Still waiting i even wrote pershing an said get this guy Dano from boat life to do a walk through on x 6, 7, 8 . Some say your vids are to long but i like every detail you cover if they aint like your channel.. dont watch bro. Keep up the good work .
@BoatLife_DansBoatLife9 ай бұрын
@@Kangal_06 Thankyou - the more the factories get requests from you guys the easier it makes it for me to get onboard. Yes, I'm going into extra detail on purpose. You can get the quick walkthroughs on other channels and I'm capable of driving these boats which is why I always break it up into a second sea trial video. The previous 20 years when I was selling boats it appeared to me that buyers want to soak up as much information as they can so I figure why not - let's give it to them. Thanks again for the support!
