I think with flatbed or steptdeck you are unloaded and loaded from morning till 5-6 pm, from monday to friday, maybe saturday. With reefer you can wait 6, 8 or more than 12 hours to be loaded or unloaded, monday, sunday. I'd rather chain or strap 1-2 hours and drive daily, than to stay hours till midnight with the reefer and forced sometimes to drive nights. Maybe I am wrong, if yes, tell me is not like that.

Right on the money. Reefer is a waiting game

I drive refer... you do a sleeper birth split 3/7.. usually takes up to 3 hours to load.. once loads done keep driving and get my hours back after 7 hour sleeper birth way easier and I'm governed at 72 so I'm chilling on the road making 2k a week not breaking a sweat

This was a fun watch I loved the enthusiasm from both of you. When you said "when it's hot it's hot" my mind immediatly went to Jerry Reed's song "When You're Hot, You're Hot. That song always makes me smile.

Was expecting reefer walking in the joint, ended up with a flatbed trailer to test out on. It's a shorter trailer, easier to maneuver, I'll take that cheatcode right there boy. When I get my CDL I guess It can't hurt to try out Flatbed. But, I don't think I'm responsible enough to tie down my own loads and drive them without any incidents. I just rather not worry, if my damn load is properly mounted and secured, cause If anything happens.. I can lose my license, I think it's safer to get a year on reefer starting out. For all you rookies like me! GL out there.

I know this is old, but here's the big buuuut. You can start out flatbed, get the experience and go to any other division. You can't do the same if you start out reefer or dry van. #Flatbedlife

What are some differences between a starter company, and a more established company that's been around for many years?
@WildBeardTrucking5 жыл бұрын
Erik Caldwell that’s a good video idea. A lot of starter companies have been around a lot of years. Ie werner swift maverick etc. but usually at your more experienced companies you get paid more.

Am starting work with Hirschbach in about a week. As a non smoker with allergies to nicotine I mentioned to my recruiter that I need either a new truck or one that has never been smoked in. What do you think my odds are to have that request met? And any advice on how to help that request along with your experience with the company so far? Oh, and I will be doing lease. Thanks.
@Kevo19935 жыл бұрын
Anthony Wells, I’ve been at Hirschbach for about 4 1/2 months. When I first got here, I did and still have my 2019 International LT, yes it was driven before, but it was extremely clean. They will fully detail the truck for all incoming drivers.

I’m about to head home from my 4th week solo with a company that put me through their own CDL program. I would owe $7,000 if I leave before my contract is up but make 36.5 cpm. Would it be worth it to leave early to go to hirschbach?
