I have a melasty and am having trouble milking our cow out. It starts out flowing really well, then after 3-4 mns slows/stops, and I have to hand milk the rest out. Did you run into any issues?

I live in MN and was considering the two cow milker. I have one cow giving 3 gallons a day and am purchasing a 2nd cow so thought it was time to quit hand milking. We have no running water in the milk parlor. It's too cold most days to clean out by the hydrant (example: Thursday will be -10). Would that mean I'd have to come out to the barn with a separate bucket to transfer the milk into, a five gallon bucket of soap water, and a 5 gallon bucket of rince water?? Is it possible or way too heavy to take the malasty inside to clean??

Hello your surge milker should work exactly the same as that new one there's no reason to milk one quarter at a time, I used those for years

It's tough for me to watch the homesteaders try milking. There are 3 levels i would suggest. 1st level: nupulse modern claw with bucket. 2nd level: dedicated milk room with small run of pipeline and auto takeoff. Give me $2500 budget and fb marketplace used and ill set up a dream work environment. 3rd level: a self contained milking robot costs used $15-$25k.

I don’t have issues with that, per se. What I do have issues with is someone who lacks real experience, trying to teach someone else. Also, not using the surge bucket milker in its intended way, is frustrating to see. Also, you don’t need a machine to produce clean milk. A clean, brushed cow, a properly cleaned/sterilized bucket and lid, and a good stool are all that’s needed.
