I'm for petting all your farm animals. Love and trust is never a bad idea.

On our farm we not only pet as many as will allow, but all will be fed apples from our hands. Everything from the small calves to the the breeding bulls.

I think every farmer has to find what works for them. It depends on so many factors. Your personality the demeanor of the breed the environment and many more. There's no right way wrong way.

I’m am fan of petting my cattle. I have had them get bigger and get to lovable and push on me to get affection. But that was one out of several.

Agree I like that my bull will let me scratch him but prefers to be a couple feet away from me. 1400 lbs is a lot of playfulness. That’s rare with our cows.

Petting is okay if you can still butcher them when the time comes. I had a heifer bull when I was a kid in the seventies. He was stunted. If you get to playful with him he could hurt you unintentionally. These animals are strong and heavy. I use to try and ride him and instead of him becoming tamer he became more playful by throwing his head side to side and putting his head down and pushing into me. Please be careful about small kids around these massive and strong animals. Just because they're friendly does not mean they cant seriously hurt you. The hardest day for me was when my dad loaded my bull/ steer to take him for butcher. Livestock is food and pets don't pay the bills. Love your channel and watching closely how well that Massey holds up. I'm currently trying th choose between Massey, Yanmar and TYM. All three dealers are within 45 minutes of my farm. I love the power shuttle transmission on the massey. Gives you the best of both worlds. Great for ground engaging implements and clutchless loader work. Power shuttle would really extend the life of a gear tractor components.
