The mini driver has changed my game. I was never very good at swinging up on a tee ball. But I am really good at smashing down on the mini driver. I am an old guy with a slow swing speed. Love your show keep up the good work.

I love the discussion on mini driver. The smoke mini changed my game. 14.5. 200-220 and fairways/in play every time. Next club is 7 wood. 180-200. Love the discussion. For me after 38 years of playing. The mini has changed the game. Thanks. Great show

I bag the SLDR mini. Get to use the same swing with all clubs in the bag. That makes golf much more consistent.

These discussions are important to the game. This game will always evolve as do all games. If we never try anything new we are okay with the status quo. If we strive - put effort in - struggle with ,then we are growing. This doesn't mean you can buy a swing...simply we can evolve.

mini driver is my favourite club and the best thing i’ve bought, goes 20-30yds short of driver but so forgiving and never need more than 5 wood off the deck which is next club

Henrik Stenson WITB: good case for the everyday golfer to relate to the game & find somewhat affordable used/ older clubs that will help one enjoy the game; maybe a good case for a KZbin match with Bryan Bros?

I played my first 18 with a Taylormade 320Ti driver I cut down to modern mini length, $50 all in. I use jumbo grips(not Bryson size) and it seems to help with swing weight loss. Overall, I was pretty surprised. Only used off the tee. Went about 3w distance with more forgiveness than trying to hit a 3w off tee. I have no problem hitting 3w off the deck.
@adamgoertzen9345Ай бұрын
I use the mini as my exclusive driver anymore. I can even swing a little harder with this club and get the same distance as I did with my regular driver. But also hit a lot more shot shape control shots on tight fours

I would never buy anything based on what another person is wearing or says. Makes no difference if they’re pros or influencers. They’re getting paid to wear or say something positive about the gear, so I don’t trust them. I buy strictly based on need and research. Cheers.
@lkae4Ай бұрын
Research how? There is objectively superior equipment like Pro V1X golf ball, Ventus shafts, Steelfiber shafts, Fang/Jailbird shape, LAB putters, Superstroke grips, Tour360 shoes, etc. They may not work for everyone but they need to be on the demo list for anyone seriously looking to get better. I was averaging a birdie a round with Pro V1, switched golf balls and averaged a birdie every two rounds. Went to Pro V1X Left Dash and averaged two birdies a round and got my first eagle last month.
@roadtoscratchgolf3481Ай бұрын
@@lkae4 Research how!!? Like you do all research when you're interested in something. It's not hard. Yes, Titleist ProV1's and all of their iterations have proven to be the best ball around, but it doesn't mean that it's the right fit for all of us. They were proven to be the best balls based upon years of empirical research. The question was: would we buy based on what a social media "influencer" says or wear?, and my answer is still NO!

In terms of mini drivers, I ended up getting one after cutting down the shaft of a 460cc driver and testing it out. I am more consistent with the mini and haven't lost distance from the cut down 460cc driver

Influencer is the wrong term. Golf entertainer is better. Ex. Grant doesn’t sell, he brings fun golf matches to viewer. I can just fast forward past his sale pitch on stuff, but he’s not 5 min commercial every 2 mins like tv pga tour golf. Finch and shields help me understand more about golf swing and equipment and show off courses I’ll probably never see in a fun match.

I don’t see Ping going into the mini driver category, but it wouldn’t shock me if they did. With wedges, I’m not able to practice much and I don’t hit many full shots during a round so changing wedges after 70 rounds would be ludicrous. I never buy anything from what an influencer says, but it may give me something to look into that I hadn’t thought of. I used to watch a lot of golf KZbin channels but I’m down to just a handful now.

I don't think it's primarily a discussion of swing speed/length - particularly b/c the category is still evolving and like the advent of hybrids, my sense is that there will be models that target different players/performance benefits.

@josephinecampbell3196Ай бұрын
@@GolfSpyC tires for a car is more important to me. But I don't have a fast swing speed so buying every year is futile
@GolfSpyCАй бұрын
@@josephinecampbell3196 Yep, no doubt that cars/tires are a safety issue whereas wedge grooves are simply about performance/shooting lower scores. If you don't have a fast swing speed, then that likely means you're likely more reliant technology/equipment to provide spin for you - so it's a bit of a catch-22 in that perhaps your wedges might not wear quite as quickly, but b/c you can't count on your native speed to generate spin, it's important that your equipment can help you do this.
