I actually prefer the flow of combat in this game compared to shadow of war

You can't combo in Shadow of War much

And stealth is useless in War because of endless spawning. There's no feeling of wiping out an entire camp without being noticed.

@@pallavrajpatra7227 Endless spawning happens in the large fortresses in SoM as well dude. Stealth is actually really useful for getting enemies off your tail and for landing critical attacks when you attack a captain. Some captains can only take damage from stealth attacks

@@truedarkness4052 Somehow SoW felt like such a chore. I loved the times freeze and being careful against ologs but not being able to scale up, not being able to raise an army fast, spending hours training up recruiters just to have them betray you, it was way too much. No one has that kinda time.

I actually enjoyed shadow of Mordor even more than War. Sure, the story is lame and the characters are forgettable but the gameplay gives you so much easily accessible freedom that gets limited in the sequel. Plus, the DLC‘s are awesome!

Great review man, was wandering if I should start with mordor after playing a bit of war and feeling a little overwhelmed by all the systems. Your review helped a lot. Cheers and you have a new sub !

Middle Earth Shadow Of Mordor is an awesome game 😁🙂. The combat is so badass and fluid like in the Batman Arkham games and killing and slaying Orcs and Orc Captains is satisfying. The Nemesis system is so cool. You felt like a true badass.

Good review. You made great observations about contextualizing and 'stacking' mission outcomes (like having humans/outcasts - Hirgon's gang - take over an Orc/Uruk area after X many are freed, etc.). Being a latecomer to this type of game, I enjoyed just roaming and wreaking havoc a lot (without completing missions, sometimes) because the combat mechanics are fluid and fun. I like the more "filmic" visual look than what SoW seems to have (haven't played the latter, just watched walkthroughs). Also as a latecomer, I have spent *way* too many hours playing without yet completely finishing (oops) - the downside of enjoying gameplay almost more than progress. Thanks for the review.

I have been wanting to play this for a long time and finally picked it up off a bundle. It does get a bit grindy doing the side missions but you are always powering up and getting new abilities to try out which keeps the game fresh. I think the nemesis system is neat but it does get annoying when you have random captains show up while you are fighting and have to take a few seconds to go through the cut scene with the orc breaking the combat flow. I was getting somewhat frustrated early game as you do start off rather underpowered and can find yourself quickly overwhelmed. I was dying quite a bit and found I was having to run away all the time until I started getting some upgrades/abilities where I could stand my ground against the orc gang up brawls. Overall it is a very fun game.

I loved both shadow games I think they are a whole lot of fun for different reasons and I’m super excited for the Wonder Woman game because of shadow or war

I first played Shadow of War, and then Mordor, and the first thing I notice is the texture/graphics. War looked muddy compared to Mordor with how clean and clear looking it is, I think maybe its the artstyle that made it different? Also the uruks in War has uniform while in Mordor every Uruk has random set of clothing.

Good review! you bring up a lot of valid points on the games strengths and flaws. Also, I was wondering which game do you prefer, the Arkham games (Knight or city) or Shadow of mordor and Shadow of War?

Good question! I'm a big DC comics fan, and Batman is my favorite comic character. Naturally I'm going to like the Arkham games more. I also think the Arkham games do a great job of fleshing out their world beyond what is happening in that moment. Also, still to this day I think Arkham City is the greatest superhero game ever made. I'll probably do a vid on it!

The combat was fun but I was definitely ready for the game to end when it did and wouldn't have minded if ended earlier tbh.

It's not that bad considering how old it is it held up relatively well and it still is better than most overpriced open world games but I got to say shadow war is better

Great story but facing most of the same enemies all along get boring, i prefer Shadow of War, cause the talent tree is great and have some epic boss battles.
