Nice and honest video, good job 👍 PPF was never really necessary on cars in the past, as long as you would fill in the paintchips from time to time. But on Tesla PPF seems to be highly reccommended, because of the low quality paintjob. I wonder if more manufacturers will follow in the same direction.

Thanks for watching! Yeah, PPF is super helpful when it comes to Tesla's thin paint

What's your experience on applying ceramic coating over the PPF? I'm hearing mixed things from professional installers and the manufacturers of both PPF and ceramic coating. Some say putting a hard coating (ceramic) over the elastomeric / smooth surface of the PPF doesn't mix well. Then XPEL says their ceramic coating for PPF works and doesn't affect self healing. Your thoughts?

It's hard to speak from other people's experience because I may not use the same products but I can speak for using Gtechniq HALO over PPF. I've applied it to STEK, 3M, Hexis without any issues. But if you have the right products, it shouldn't be an issue. I would reach out to the manufacturer for accurate details but if you are dealing with any of those above, let me know and I can help since we're certified by them.

@@tesbros Thanks. How much is the gloss enhanced when applying Halo over 3M ppf (clear)?

I have the entire front and hood covered in PPF. And I have ceramic coating on the doors and back. I used Suntek and it’s pretty good.

That's awesome. Suntek is a great brand!

PPF is the most important unnoticeable aftermarket upgrade you can make. An expensive necessity.

Can you remove installed PPF without steam? Can I use hairdryer for the removal process?
@tesbros3 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't recommend a hairdryer or a heat gun. The reason for using steam is to disperse the heat and loosen up the adhesive gradually instead of applying direct heat with a heat gun.

If you get in a collision and get a dent in your bumper does PPF have to be removed.
@tesbros3 жыл бұрын
Depends on how bad the dent is and what's needed to get it out. If you use the suction tool to get the dent out, it probably will lift the PPF and ruin the adhesion. If the dent can be pushed out from the underside, that would hopefully save the PPF!

My front bumper PPF has been chipped. Are you able to apply a small patch on top of the ppf that’s already there to cover the one spot that is compromised?
@tesbrosАй бұрын
You could but it probably won't look the best. Really depends on what the chip looks like. If you want to reach out to us at support@tesbros.com with your issue, we can provide some options for you to fix it.

If only the front of the car gets clear PPF, will the doors and back not look as glossy? Will it be obvious that only the front has the PPF?
@tesbros2 жыл бұрын
Not necessarily. Unless your looking intensely close, maybe but shouldn’t be able to tell especially if it’s a good install!

prices are too crazy. I rather just live with the rock chips as a car is a depreciating asset anyway. I thought about wrapping our model Y but it would drive me crazy and too much time wasted. My other past cars even with a Little Rock chip here and there it still looked great after a wash.

Understandable points! I will say it can be frustrating how thin Tesla paint is compared to previous cars I've had though. If you change your mind and are up for the challenge, we have 15% off with code "launchday" this weekend on our new DIY front kit for the Y: tesbros.com/products/diy-front-protection-kit-ppf-for-model-y

What if we already have chips on the front of our Tesla? Should we get it corrected first before applying PPF?
@tesbros3 жыл бұрын
That's actually what we're going to talk about on Monday's video! I recommend getting it corrected or touched up before installing PPF, but you technically don't have to. This will ensure that your paint is in its very best shape for the years you'll have PPF installed over it. It really just depends on how much it'll bother you having chips and scratches!
