Coming from a 5.7 myself, I traded up to a scatpack. Just to let yal know if you are like me, you will still want more power. You will only want more power because you know what else is offered. Just like he said about people saying that you should have gotten a v8 if you own a v6 or you should have gotten a scatpack if you own a 5.7. The same thing applies if you have a scatpack. Hopefully you can be satisfied with what you have and like what you like. . .

I've definitely seen people tell scat pack owners, they should have gotten a Hellcat. I know how that goes. Never buying a car to please anyone but myself. Good info!

If you want a fun daily driver woth decent gas mileage that'll last 250k miles if you treat it with any level of respect then you should buy an R/T. If you want a racecar then buy a scat or a hellcat. I've owned several classic cars as well as a modern Mustang GT. The most fun car I've ever owned is my 2010 challenger R/T. 133k miles and no problems.

I love my 2023 T/A. To me, “fast” is relative. These are still fast cars, they’re just not the “fastest”. I mean, 0-60 in less than 5 seconds, and a top speed of 150 is not a slow car. So if you like the style, and have no interest in racing chumps in ugly Camaros or mustangs, the R/T gets you close to the old school muscle car experience. Are there faster cars? Yes, of course, but unless you’re doing stupid things like illegal street racing, or you’re really into racing at the track, the RT is a great ride. I’m also 6’4”, and even getting into some of those faster cars would suck. Lol. Great video!

That is the honest review right there. You said it. I’m tall as well and I love the ride and fit of it. My rt shaker is not slow. Speed is an opinion. My car puts me in my seat when I get on it and it can get me locked up if I get carried away. I’m not illegal street racing or tracking it.

You are 100 percent right. But… I am 66 years old,so came from the muscle car era, and I can tell you my 2019 challenger f-8 green TA is way faster than my 68 GTO,and my 73 455 trans am. And I get 27 mpg on the highway. I am not interested in racing every one. It is still a mid 13 second,105 mph car. That’s as fast as the 426 hemi and other muscle cars from the day. Keep up the great work.

So I want to say this. I recently just got a RT. You're hearing this from someone who had a Camaro a mustang and Corvette. I think the RT is just good enough. It can beat the majority of things on the street. If you guys get a scat pack thinking you're going to be fast as well then you're totally wrong. I walked tons with my Camaro. This is my first Mopar and I'm happy with it

the 5.7 is extremely restricted out of the box. You buy a 5.7 RT to mod, not to just own. Scat Packs are fun out of the box, but the RT comes alive AFTER a few bolt ons. We're talking 500hp+ easy with less money than it costs to buy a scat. But if you dont want to build or worry about it, get a 392 and love every minute of it.

As a 17 year old I chose 2 go wit the r/t. I was debating on getting a scat but after doing sum research I chose the r/t. Me being a younger driver the insurance on the scat was ridiculous. With the cost of the monthly insurance I’ve just been upgrading my r/t and eventually gonna get it as fast as a scat. 💯

Since you went into the topic of making the RT fast.. Its not worth it, its about 10 grand to get a good turbo kit in here and for that price you can get the SP version with better brakes and suspension and all that. This car is a blast to drive but like you said, you are not at the top of the food chain not even close. My RT is loud enough to make people second guess challenging it but anyone that actually knows anything about the car knows they can probably beat it. Acknowledge that, accept it, and enjoy it. I will say though the car isn't slow by any means and it almost sounded like you were implying it was. The fun way to drive this is on back roads where you constantly have to slow for the turns and then step on it again. The kind of back roads where people aren't driving much.

I love my 22 challenger rt with a 6 speed. I gave 31grand out the door used with 10k miles on it . A scat with a 100 more horsepower was 15k more with same miles i bet i can mod my rt for way less than 15k and get a 100 more horsepower. They can pay the crazy mark ups for scat. Buy the rt and mod it for alot less. I knew i was buying the slow hemi with every intention of making it a bad mofo. Unless you just want the bee on the fender. Hes right its a blast to drive.

I do love my 16 RT Shaker 6m. I upgraded from the 18 SXT and for the sound and all encompassing experience I love it! It's my daily driver, it uses 93 octane (no 91 around here) and it does eat through gas but I do short drives to work and such and I'm heavy on the pedal. I do not regret this car and I'm looking to take it on a road trip to Canada (it's homeland) soon!

At least ur honest man but don’t be too hard on yourself rts arent slow slow you can do a couple things here and there to make it quick a tune goes along way get long tube headers and cold air intake after that I know cam will make a huge difference and all that still being NA rt stock may not be super fast but the way I see it it’s a blank canvas ready to be upgraded still a great price and with that manual you got u have a limited slip differential only way to get that from the factory on a 5.7 is to get the 6 speed manual so your already ahead there anyway it’s a great car I love the 5.7 keep up the good content

I chose to get a 5.7 over a 6.4 or hellcat not because I couldn't afford it. I did it because being is is a challenger I wanted a V8 but I didn't want something that would get me in trouble wanting to race everybody they pulled up next to me or something to powerful the 5.7 is perfect it has power not worried about the speed I like to throw me back in my seat feel and sound of my engine

I’m soooo happy that someone told the truth about the 57. I owned one and it’s slooooow. An Ecoboost will smoke an RT off the line. I did enjoy daily driving my Charger RT, but I couldn’t beat anyone. I’d say buy an RT if you just want the theatrics of a V8 or you want to do modifications..

I have a Challenger widebody scat and my wife has an R/T Charger and I enjoy her Charger as much as my scat even though the scat is faster. My Mustang GT is as fast as my scat but the manual tranny in the Stang makes the driving experience better than the 8 speed auto in my scat. Love them all.

I know I can’t talk much cause mine is slower but I test drove a 17’ RT (premium I think it was...). Loved how it felt more aggressive than the 18’ Mustang GT I test drove as well. The GT felt really light and didn’t enjoy it as much. However , both felt like a good option but I know I’ll get used to it pretty fast. Good video fam 🔥

I think the gearing in the RT is way more aggressive than the GT. That 10 speed in the GT is no joke. That GT would be better to mod performance wise also. You for sure will get use to it.

For sure the car is slow, but it's a really good platform to build off of! You can hit 500hp NA stock internals stock tranny pretty easily. Probably 4kish in mods depending on how u do it and what tunes u go with. Maybe more.

I'm debating on getting one of these, Challenger has always been a dream car of mine. I'm not worried about speed at all, not to worried about gas cuz I also have a motorcycle. I just really want something to cruise and daily drive in and enjoy, and I can't think of any other car that makes me feel the way the Challenger does. I'm calling cap the 8spd trans in it is the bread and butter , I don't lose to allot of cars in my RT. With an intake and Diablo tune it makes the car even faster but stock for stock unless it's a 5.0 and ss or corvette or scats and up you won't get blown out by other cars . Your not lying about the speed, but you make a lot of assumptions about why people get the RT. A lot of dudes (myself included) can’t afford the SCAT. I’m from Canada...I lived down the street from Brampton. During the chip shortage, A fully loaded RT is $60,000 CDN all in. A SCAT. is $80,000 CDA. even with a healthy down payment your looking at a big finance payment...and that’s before you ceramic coat and ppf. Throw in the sports car insurance and fuel..... you’ll go broke if your an average blue collar family man. This means for the average dude like myself....gotta go RT out the gate and be a cruiser instead of a racer, and hope one could get SCAT money before the EV,s come in 2025...the struggle is real in 2021.

I built my RT instead of buying a hellcat simply for the journey. It costs just as much as a hellcat and has no warranty. I only advise folks to do what I Do for the love of the game, for science, to have a sleeper. Don’t build a car to “save money” build it cause you love it or are bored buying Performance is way easier than building it and you’ll get the same respect end of day. Build it to prove something buy it move something 😂

I'm can someone advise me I'm about to buy 2014 RT 6 speed automatic with 163,000 KM on milage . Is this too old ? Its accidents free .... And how's the 6 spreed transmission performance?

In 2014, the challengers had either a 5 speed automatic or 6 speed manual. I traded my 2015 6 speed In with 160,000 miles on it. Had no major issues while I owned it.

Saying Hemis are hard to mod is engine dependent. the 5.7l is extremely restricted from the factory. However, it’s not hard to change a few things out. A few bolt ons and you’re good. comparing to the 6.4, whatever you change out in a 5.7 will offer more power than what the same mod would do in a 6.4. Saying the R/T is slow getting beat by this and that is hard to believe. From a dig a WRX had me from the start, but because it is a V8 of course a few more feet i pulled by a good length. I understand you’ve said you’ve had this car for a few years and you know it’s slow saying it can’t keep up with a 5.0 when really it’s extremely close.... I truly believe, as an R/T owner myself, it comes down to user error.

You are right it's not hard to change things out. However, in comparison to other platforms, the amount you spend vs the gains you see aren't in the N/A Hemi's favor. While not everyone is going to built out the engine, it is something to consider if that is your plan in the long run. What 5.0s are you racing where it is really close? A newer 5.0 is lighter and has more HP and is more comparable to Scat Packs in terms of 1/4 performance. The RT can mop the floor with the older 5.0s. If you are racing a new 5.0 in a very short race then yes it can appear as a close race. In a 1/4mile then that difference becomes much more apparent.

@@RUBIX3 I’m saying that an R/T can’t be a Scat Pack the way an SXT can’t be an R/T. I personally don’t believe in spending a ton of money on mods to compete, when it would have been cheaper to trade and upgrade. The 5.0 is a beast, no doubt. But the 5.7 is highly underrated. as far as adding bolt ons and weight reduction, it’s not available or likable by the majority of average standards which is totally fine. i’m not bashing any other car, people should be proud of what they have or at least experience it because some of what’s said, could discourage people and they’d be missing out. I will be the first to admit, the 5.0’s i’ve raced and beat or came close to, wasn’t the car itself, rather the driver. no doubt 5.0’s are quicker from the start, however if it comes down to reaction timing on a track the challenger faces more adversity driver dependent. I personally love my R/T, i’ve owned a mustang and i loved it as well. I know the video wasn’t to discourage, but i try to encourage so no one feels insecure about their ride.

I bought 5.7 to be on the 300 hp cars. Remember your car will always be the challenger. If you get gap it's okay but If get gap with the focus RS. Maybe it's time to learn how to drive that car properly. Yeah an ss took a while to pass me. The only reason he did because I let him after 135mph. The guy was desperately wants to win lol. To where it became to dangerous for everyone around. So yeah the RT is not that slow with the proper driver 🤔. Oh yeah I have the 6 speed tremec and hang on 3-4 gear the whole time... He rev on me and passed me and that how it started. I took his challenge and drop gear on him and pass him like a moded civic 😆 🤣 😂. He's face was epic 😎 👌. Also after I let him pass me. Oh the smell from his engine was amazingly nasty about to blow up. Also do not pass an M4 bmw stays on their tail the whole time. That's definitely a win for RT driver.... Again you have a challenger you'll never really going to win every race but you'll enjoy trolling 😉 them.

I fully enjoyed driving my RT when I had it. The focus RS is putting down 350hp nearly the same as an RT and 1,000lbs lighter. There isn’t a driver mod against physics. 🤷🏾‍♂️

I don’t know everyone says the 5.7 is slow% I have 2016 RT plus 6 speed manual with 390 gears. And it not slow I went up against 392 challenger and stayed with him even the guy said are you sure it a 5.7 . The only mods I did is a HC air box and BBK shorty Headers. But if I’m going to race I’m gouging to race in my class 5.7 Love my RT

Are you doing dig races? And if so how long are the races? I’ve raced several 392s myself. If the race is short from a dig I can hang with them for a bit but the longer it goes on they will just pull away. From a roll, I don’t have a chance.

And same here in the roll I stayed with him up to 4th and he pulled away . .... when I was looking I was looking SRT 8 the fee I found didn’t like the way they sounded. Engine wise .
