I took an in person 200 hour TT last year beginning in January…in the middle of training, COVID happened. They ended up having us finish the last classes and experience hours online. Because of this, I feel like none of us really bonded. I have tried to get a hold of some of them with no luck (just feel like a lot were discouraged by the way things ended). I am teaching classes from my house and subbing every once in a while but feel like I need more training because of the way things ended. I’m definitely thinking of doing a 300 hour training in the future. You have such a kind, beautiful presence, Shayna! I’m sure your trainings are amazing 🤩

Hey Nikki! I'm sorry to hear about your 200-hr YTT experience. I have heard of several similar instances; suddenly needing to switch too virtual. It's unfortunate that you weren't able to maintain a feeling of community and bonding -- it's definitely possible online too!! I'm glad you're activating what you learned and teaching/subbing -- that's great. And yes, a 300-hour training will be a wonderful refresher and deepening of everything you learned in your 200hr TT. Online or not, community and bonding is always my number one priority with my students! Have a beautiful day

Hi. I want to get the 500hrs for yoga teaching training. Does online classes gives you the same level of “experience” or the same level of “respect” that in person yoga classes.? I want to learn the best way possible. (I am not trying to say that online training is less. Whatsoever.) I am just curious. If it the yoga community if I want to apply to a yoga studio would they consider online worse or less than a person that got training in person.?

My volumn is acting up guys can you tell me what was said. Anyhow I think I only need 200 for my purpose. Yes being a big eye I also register for children and prenatal. Hello senior women don't need that but I mean who know what might happen in the future.

And another question is. What online classes would you recommend.? I have seen so many in google. I just don’t want to get in a scam or something that is not that good.

Great question! I offer a pre-recorded virtual 300 hour training online. The link is in the description of this video. Take a look and let me know what you think. We will be offering another live virtual training in October/November. It is fully credentialed with the Yoga Alliance. If you are still new and have not yet taken a 200 hour training, there are definitely a lot out there. I still run 200 hour trainings 2 to 3 times per year through the YogaCollective. We are currently in week three of our five week, 200 hour training. I am very hands-on with my students, and even though I resisted teaching virtual trainings in the beginning, it has proven to be such a profoundly transformational experience for my students. Of course it is different than being in person but it is not worse or better. That being said, it is extremely important to find a virtual training that is comprehensive and well-guided. If you want more support feel free to reach out to me shaynayoga@gmail.com xo

The thing is that yoga alliance only give you the 300 hrs if you do the training with the same studio you made the 200, and I would like to take it with different teachers or studio or even different style of yoga.

That’s what they told me in the studio I did the 200. Maybe that changed after 2020. I’ll keep digging. Thanks for the reply 😇

Hi. I want to take the 500hrs class. But I was wondering if the online classes give me the same “experience” or “respect” as a in person class would give me.? Like if I would apply to be a yoga instructor in a studio, would they consider better the one that had the in person training.? (I am not trying to say that online classes are bad or less, whatsoever…. Is more of a question) if the yoga community sees different the people that take the classes online…

Hey Ariann! This is such a great question. No, a yoga studio would never have an issue with you having taken an online training versus an in person training. That is a personal choice, and as long as you are certified there’s likely no chance that a yoga studio will ever even ask what training you did whether online or in person. The thing is, with a well structured and well led online training, you will only be certified if you pass certain criteria.
