This may have worked if the ignition switch was left in the on positiion and the lights left on to drain any residual power from the system.

That little resistor drains at 10 watts, after about 5 seconds it drains all power so I tried 15 minutes and 23 hours later.

I’m Wondering if maybe your vehicle has an auxiliary battery like many modern vehicles. Because if that’s the case, you would have to disconnect the aux battery as well otherwise the vehicle’s computer still has a power source. That’s just my guess of what may be the reason it didn’t work.

This method doesn’t work, that’s why I made the video. There are KZbinrs that spreading bad information. The only to clear a pdtc is drive it. There is a bypass if you complete 15 warm up cycles and 200 miles. The only way to clear it otherwise is to replace the computer. I ran used car dealership when I was younger and that’s how I know this weird bit of information. Is there a device that can easily delete driver monitoring cameras, lane keeping assist and all the rest of the crap?

For that you need a scan tool with Adas support and also some specific tools that help the cameras calibrate. It’s very complicated and each vehicle make can be different. I would suggest going to windshield replacement shop unless you want to spend $2000 plus for the tools

im having same problem i just gound that granc caravan 11¹ to 15 have problems clearing permanent codes they are on bars lust of pri lrm cleating permanent codes section e i think the dealership has to clearvyhem if i read it right good luck if you find a solution hit me up

You know you have to actually correct the issue that is causing the permanent code or it will just keep showing up. If all you are doing is trying to delete a permanent without correcting the issue the code will come back. The resister and alligator leads will clear a permanent code, some manufactures may have implemented the ability to store the code on a memory chip and not just in memory in which case you will have to use a computer to erase the permanent code.

Hi 👋, Thank you for you comment and feedback about this but you can clearly see I followed your instructions to a t and still no success. I know that permanent codes can not be deleted or erased. If you have a computer program that can do it please let me know about the program. Additionally I have tried this on other vehicles with the outcome. I welcome your response and I hope you prove me wrong.

It's actually 2009 and newer vehicles with permanent codes and it's a federal law nationwide.

@@RANDOMFIX I apologize, I meant that it's a government regulation that all manufacturers of motor vehicles has this feature equipped in all vehicles produced after 2008. I'm not exactly sure of the specific date it was mandated. However, if the state you live in has smog inspection it will definitely be enforced. The states that don't have inspections, no, they are not enforced and you can drive your car/truck till the wheels fall off. In almost every case of someone trying to clear the PDTC is someone that is trying to pass inspection, and up until 2009 it was pretty easy to do. Henceforth the government stepped in and remedied the problem they were having up until then.

@matthewthompson6181 great information but I as far as I’m aware California is the only state that enforces the to be cleared or the vehicle has being driven 200 miles and or 15 warm cycles have been completed in order to qualify for a pdtc exemption. I moved from California to Texas ( no smog in my county : )

Ohm's law says that electricity follows the path of least resistance. When you install the yellow wire between terminals the resistor does nothing. 😂

You don’t need a resistor. You can disconnect the terminals, wait five minutes then touch them together for a minute to fully discharge the system. All learned values and keep alive memory will be lost.

Thanks for sharing and yes, you are right, that works for keeping alive memory, this is a permanent diagnostic trouble code that affects vehicles 2010 and newer. This is only an issue in California so far but I imagine more states will start enforcing this. California is always the testing ground for stupid ideas!

You wasting your time. You must remedy what ever the problem is and then drive the vehicle till the ECM recognizes that the problem has been resolved. It's the only way!!!

Yes, that why I made the video because people are telling others you can just delete code via this method. Obviously this method didn’t work.
