Should you Upgrade Your Gravel Wheels? (To Carbon?)

Hi All, Just thought I would make a video going through my thoughts on whether it is worth upgrading from your stock alloy rims that come with most gravel bikes to deeper dish carbon ones

I think what you've concluded here is likely true, certainly for me in any case. I upgraded to some handbuilt 37 mm deep carbon road wheels, and with 28 mm tyres they were incredibly uncomfortable over long distances. Same spokes, hubs and tyres, but on a mid range aluminium rim are way better and weigh virtually the same, but perhaps slightly less aero. Likewise, I'm less worried about their durability and are easily replaced if they do get damaged. Glad to see the sun is shining your end. It's very wet here in the UK and has been like it for months 😢!

Exactly! Think there are time and places for both! I’m a bit of a bike snob so will always love deep carbon wheels but sometimes less thought and more practicality is actually better!
