Why it's needed only root account? is it same for vmware?

i believe currently it’s a proxmox thing. i believe with vmware you can use any service account but i don’t think the same capabilities are there for proxmox yet since the integration is still new

I looking for couple of days to find the best way to backup my first proxmox server. Lets see if veeam will be the one to go Edit: watched the video and veeam does not work for me as i have one vm and 20+ lxc :(

@@BarmineTech I installed pbs in proxmox VM and do my backups to TrueNAS scale samba share. It working great!

Shame about the lack of LXC support. How is this better than running a proxmox backup server and having everything available in the proxmox console?

that’s pretty much what i say towards the end for my thoughts on veeam vs pbs

@BarmineTech Yeah. I use proxmox at home and my mates at work keep telling me I should use Veeam but I just don't see the benefit. Recovering from a major failure seems more complicated too if you first need to re-install a worker VM.
