Hello, Thank you both for the useful info. I'm kind of watching all your videos. A friend of mine just started a limited company to sell products online and, last week he opened a business account. I advised him to transfer some money from his personal to business to buy the products he wants to sell and record it as equity investment. Do you agree?

Hi I hope that the videos are helping guide you and your friend through the early stages of the business. Recording it as equity should mean that your friend issues new shares and files the necessary forms at Companies House. This may improve the credit standing for the company, but it rather depends on how much they are investing. Our rule of thumb would be to record it as a loan rather than an equity investment. The main reason for this is that your friend can pay the loan back with no tax or other consequences. Hope that is useful.
