Should your indoor cat eat this?

I always enjoy the Sardine Sunday videos by The Voice. When my cousin moved from Indiana to California, she brought her two farm cats. They were the biggest cats I had ever seen. My first cat, Snuffy, lived to be 16. Most of her life she ate raw fish that a neighbor caught and minced for her. Shalom!

Your indoor cat has the same physiology as a feral cat or a barn cat. They are all obligate carnivores, they have to eat meat to stay healthy. And cats are smart. Out in the wild, have you ever seen a cat pull down a stalk of wheat & eat it? No, because grains aren't part of a cat's natural diet. But even a housecat will happily catch & eat a vole or mouse if it gets outside. I don't have cats now but when I did, I fed them BARF but never got to the point of transitioning them to whole prey.

YAS! Cats would not hunt grains and corns. But they will hunt the animals that do eat that stuff!

@@jesscaticles Yes! Even the most well-fed house cat is happy to feast on a mouse if it catches one.

I do think its what they eat, but I also think its just exercise and mental health, ALL of my cats go outdoors to the shargrine of my neighrbors who call animal control and do mean things, just ask yourself would you be happy and health if you lived life as indoor cat? Nope , guess we will see all of our cats are about 10 years old right now

Yes that's very true. Our cats should go outside if we can do that. But I don't have that possibility right now. My goal is to move eventually to an area that is quieter and has more greenery so I can take Jericho outside.

@@jesscaticles I dont live in a quite area, I leave teh decision up to the cat, if it dies out there living its life, well hey that was their decision, I ask myself what I would have wanted, to live 5 years with all the excitement of the out doors or to be bored to death doing nothing in door all day where the biggest part of your day is what your owner gives you to eat and a few pets. I dont notice them dying what I notice is them just getting multiple families, and sometimes one family takes them and locks them in and you never see them again, and you think their dead until you figure it out. However to each their own each method has its merits

@adairjanney7109 - Then you are very fortunate. In my city, there are demonic boys who like to catch cats & torture them. Not to mention foxes on the prowl. That plus the damage cats do to the bird population were why my cats were indoor- only furbabies.

All 3 of my cats eat a raw meat diet. Cats are obligate carnivores.
