Hi, An axial projection is typically more beneficial when assessing shoulder dislocations, rather than fractures. Within our department our second view of choice when assessing humeral fractures is a Y view - but there's no 'one size fits all' approach and sometimes the axial projection may better demonstrate a fracture of the humeral head region (this may vary from hospital to hospital). An axial projection would be of little help if the fracture was within the surgical neck of humerus or diaphysis as the fracture would likely not be well visualised and appear foreshortened, if it was included at all.

Hey Louise, Thanks for the video. It's indeed very informative. Could you please tell me the justification of doing an axial view on a patient with humerus fracture?
