If my life was 8-bit, it would be on the NES, programmed with the Game Genie in consideration. Enter a code, get an effect. The one downside is instead of simple signal interruption it would have to consider what code interrupts what signals. And the video output as well as controller input would have to be on the cartridge itself. It would make it have the same appeal to deciding what orientation the Wii console is to play Gamecube games. Front-loader (or toaster), it'd be fairly normal. Top-loader, it would be vertical, and a sudden yank can have the potential to completely destroy it, but it works.
