Many may hate this movie, and in another universe, I would, too. But I was 10 years old and my father, god rest his soul, sat in the theater for the entire movie just so I can see my heroes, The Bee Gees in all their fantasy glory, while his heroes, The Beatles, are being drugged through the dirt. I think this contributed to his first heart attack 4 years later. He hated this movie, and the Bee Gees (post-"Lonely Days") but he did it for me. This, and the first Indiana Jones and the first Star Wars are the only movies we've ever watched together when I was kid. So this holds special memories. Especially, the EWF, Steve Martin, Bee Gees, and Aerosmith moments. It's a horrible movie. It really is by all definitions, but special to me regardless.

EXCELLENT Trailer editing/presentation in Blue Ray format! Makes it worth revisiting! Even though the movie flopped in 1978, it definitely created a Time Capsule of that Hollywood genre. The BEE GEES were at their hyper-peak at that time, and the paradox was, as many moviegoers & critics kept their distance to see this film, in the same breath, millions were embracing their newly released album "SPIRITS (Having Flown)* to the tune of 15 million copies sold ( simultaneous worldwide release) and sprung three No.1 hits! In my honest opinion, this movie is up there with Rocky Horror as one of the greatest cult movies I have ever watched. I remember highly enjoying this movie when I first saw it on TV and I still thoroughly enjoy it to this day. I absolutely love Earth Wind and Fire's rendition of "Got To Get You Into My Life" which is one of the big highlights of the movie for me and the story is just super cheesy and it looks like everyone is having fun when they are performing the songs. This movie is one of my favorites ever and I have the Peter Frampton Bee Gees soundtrack on vinyl and occasionally will spin it to listen to Aerosmith's "Come Together" or even George Burns singing "Fixing a Hole". Some might consider this movie so bad it's good, I consider it a genuinely fun movie that is one of the greatest cult films of it's time only overshadowed by Rocky Horror. I highly suggest everyone watch it. It's definitely an interesting take on The Beatles music with some really odd choices including "Shes Leaving Home" done by robots.

Have I got a story for y’all! John Lennon was once on a flight that should have lasted about two hours. In a badly thought-out attempt at flattery, the flight crew decided that this mess should be the in-flight film. He smiled through his pain, signed a few autographs for the passengers, and tried not to self-destruct as the movie dragged on and finally ended. Then one of the plane’s engines went down. The pilot spoke to everyone in the cabin: “Ladies and gentlemen, our engine failure will result in a two-hour delay as we fly at limited speed. We apologize for this inconvenience. To make up for this, *we will replay our in-flight movie* free of charge. Thank you for understanding.”

I was thinking about how a better 'Sgt Pepper' movie could have been made, and I came up with a potential treatment using only the 13 songs on the original Beatles album. Maybe this treatment probably wouldn't make a great movie, but it would make a better movie than what came out in 1978. Sgt. Pepper retires from making music and becomes his grandson Billy Shears' music teacher. Billy has a band in high school, and Sgt. Pepper helps them with their music. They name themselves Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band because they don't have girlfriends ("Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band"), and they get by because they help each other out. ("With a Little Help From My Friends") The lead guitarist has a crush on a girl in high school, Lucy. ("Lucy In the Sky With Diamonds") They start going out. Sgt. Pepper realizes that the band is honing its skills quite well ("Getting Better") even as they hold down cruddy part-time jobs, like the bass player, who works for a home improvement company. ("Fixing a Hole") The drummer finds true love with another girl in school. Lucy wants to be an artist, and she can't communicate with her parents, so she runs away to seek her fame and fortune, leaving her boyfriend bereft. ("She's Leaving Home") Lucy's father, Mr. Kite, is really upset, so Sgt Pepper's Band plays a show to raise money to help him find Lucy. The show is held with a traveling circu , with other acts to bring in the families with little kids. The circus is owned by Mr. Kite's bretoher, who performs in the circus. ("Being For the Benefit Of Mr. Kite!") A lady clown catches Billy's attention while Sgt. Pepeprs band plays; she thinks he's cute. She takes him back to her motor home after the show and removes her costume and makeup and turns out to be a gorgeous woman, a few years older than Billy, and they sleep together. They talk about the meaning of life in afterglow. ("Within You, Without You") The lady clown asks Billy if they will stay together despite the age difference. ("When I'm Sixty-Four") The circus leaves town, but Billy and his new girlfriend vow to keep a long-distance romance going. Eventually, the bass player finds a girlfriend when, just after high school graduation, sees a parking meter attendant writing up a ticket when he parks the band's van in a NO PARKING zone. Her name is Rita; they start dating. ("Lovely Rita") Billy's circus girlfriend returns to town - with Lucy, who wants to go home. Everyone is happy when Lucy returns in the A.M. hours. ("Good Morning, Good Morning") The band gets a recording contract, Billy is grateful to his grandfather and they leave for the big city. The end. The musical sequences are Sgt. Pepper's Band performing in concert the songs their beginnings inspired, and the movie's plot is told in flashbacks. The last song they play at the end of the movie is the hard-rocking "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" reprise. "A Day In the Life" plays over the closing credits.

The only way I found out about this is literally because I googled franki vallis character in the sopranos and I went down this rabbit hole of gabagool and Aerosmith’s cover of come together and now I’m here

It was truly ahead of its time. Think of all the musicals that have been assembled out of the songbooks of various acts. It would have done a lot better nowadays.

Have they ever done a commentary track for this movie? That would be fun!

I love the fact that Sgt.pepper Starring Peter Frampton and The Bee Gee's has come up for release on Blu-Ray But why have you also omitted The Co-Stars Dianne Steinberg And Paul Nicholas from the credits. They were also a very big part of this movie? In my opinion I think you should fix the trailer to include them as well.

My feeling exactly!

You'll have room for them if you remove Billy Preston, since he wants nothing to do with this movie and isn't in the credits.

I feel the same way, Maria! I had told others on these comments so I'll share my sentiments with you as well. When I saw omission of the "Dianne Steinberg" on the blu ray trailer ad, I called Shout Factory and Universal. They asked me to send them contracts from 77 to prove I had equal billing. I sued and settled with RSO for a new contract including "favored nations clause" for equal billing (except Peter, BeeGee and George Burns) with all the other actors introduced in the film! Though Lucy was a major role it should not have ever been an oversight! A Universal Tech Whiz artist could have re-edited the trailer for the next batch. But I'm happy to say, that I am on the Credits of the film! And good bad or indifferent, my life is a blessing!

Frankie Howerd never got a mention. My ghast has never been so flabbered.

They made a lot of mistakes. The guy who played the giant sidekick with Howard was also left out! I was inadvertently omitted in the Shout Factory ad trailer. However, it appears whether the movie was considered great, lousy or lousiest, I get a chuckle thinking that at least my grandkids will see me at that time forever. :)!

No one outside the UK knows who Frankie Howard is. I know only because I lived in the UK for two years
