I wish Shovel Knight got the same love as other huge indie games like Undertale, FNAF or Cuphead, but I should also be glad that it didn’t get hate for being popular or having a toxic fanbase.

You know you're right, even it it's mostly because it blew up before fandom culture was big, it did save it from the bad reputation most indie games got. Even something like Pizza Tower that never got to the same level as Undertale, FNAF or Pizza Tower got hit with a bad fandom, but SK got off mostly scot free
