This is exactly why the numbers of eastern diamondback rattlesnakes have been reduced substantially. They are just asking to get bitten too.

@@patrickmollohan3082 after it clears up they will
@patrickmollohan30822 жыл бұрын
@@rolltide9547 That may be. But its gonna take decades to clear out..if they ever do. If the snakes used the holes to hibernate in for many generations, that same colony will not use it again. They've already had to try to find suitable homes in areas they arent familiar with. They use scent trails to find their ways back to dens and what not. You take an adult rattlesnake out of its home range, they usually wont survive too long.

This is why they barely have diamondbacks in alabama and they are limited in Mississippi. That shots illegal now gopher tortoises are protected and you can be fined up to $100,000.00 now for messing with them or their habitat
@istinklikebutt455 жыл бұрын
Jonathan Wallace don't know where you are but there's plenty in my part of Alabama.And you think it's because of a very limited number of snake hunters from back in the day and not the loss of habitat from developing and logging,huh?
@TheBountyhunter19595 жыл бұрын
@@istinklikebutt45 loss of habitat is the biggest culprit indeed!
@knowoneatall47574 жыл бұрын
@@istinklikebutt45 yea I believe habitat loss, collective fear, and hunters. I live in ms. and when I go to the country where I look for edb's every dude at the store has killed, at the very least, 5 each, if not 10 -30 Not counting all the ones that get ran over. So accumulate that number × everyone who hunts and lives where these snakes habitate. Now, take the loss of habitat, including construction and farming and remove people... which would you guess would consume the bigger number? The one guy said I got 9 a couple days ago, and they got 11 in this trip. How many times can you do that before highly reducing numbers? Ask buffalo and alligators about it... C'mon man, think about what your saying

@knowoneatall47574 жыл бұрын
Michelle this is from the 80's before there were laws in place from doing this. Those are gopher tortoise holes which are endemic to the southeast. You can be fined up to a hundred grand and 5 years upstate for harassing one now, cus the gopher tortoise is endangered. Without them, snakes and other reptiles wouldn't have anywhere to hibernate which could cause an even worse species decline. You never see em like this anymore because of things like this, habitat loss, and people intentionally killing them without cause. It sucks when your an advocate for all wildlife
