Considering the alcohol and drug abuse these days, there is nothing wrong with the request of any state govt for not promoting these bad habits. Diljit is a a very big personality whose fame isn’t going to dent if he didn’t sing his songs that might be seen as promoting alcohol. Why should it even be any news item? He must remember pride comes before a fall!

Does this mean that due to the rape culture going on in India that Bollywood films with actresses in revealing clothing and the sensual songs sung by Lata Ji and other singers be banned?
@rapinderdhanjal44532 күн бұрын
@ The film is telling a story and everything including songs are wiithin that context! You are blind to the influence of a famous person on the youth. Families have been destroyed by alcohol and drug abuse which the govts are trying to address! You can listen to whatever you choose in your own home no one is stopping you!

@ There have been alcoholics in India since bygone times. People still found a way to drink in the Prohibition Era. What makes you think that a singer’s songs will prevent alcoholism? If the government wants to address such issues, perhaps they should spend their energy on educating and rehabilitating the youth. This is just like putting a bandage on a wound instead of treating it.

@ So you don’t think the Govt’s request to Diljit is also addressing the issue on a large scale? All govts try their best to make people think about their bad habits - by putting notices, with posters, asking famous people to speak about the negative effects of alcohol/drugs/smoking etc. So that is exactly what the govt is trying to do! Some Sikhs take offence just because Diljit happens to be a SikhI whom the govt requested! I am sure these types of messages are also given in schools and temples. Obviously, it’s a personal choice to drink but then don’t expect the govt to provide rehabilitation centres. These are responsibilities of the families and the communities or charities and the individuals concerned! India has a very large population to care for and the last thing that it should be expected to do is looking after addicts!

@@rapinderdhanjal4453 That’s not a request. It’s a stipulation or a ban. If they asked to put up warning posters like “Alcohol and drugs are injurious to your health” like they do in movies, then it would have been fair. At the rate that the Godi media is churning out anti-Sikh propaganda, this seems like another ploy to brainwash people against Sikhs. Families are important in the rehabilitation process. In most families, men are the abusers and the women are the suppressed. Have women’s voice ever been given importance to be heard? In a corrupt government, only fingers are pointed

It may be best to prioritize focusing on more constructive sources of information rather than engaging with Godi media, as they tend to create sensationalist narratives.
