Our 4 Goldens are bathed and groomed about every other week. Yes, it's a lot of work and can be time consuming, but it's worth it. They are from conformation/show lines and have a ton of coat, so they need regular grooming and bathing, especially during the spring and summer when we take them on our weekend travels and they are swimming in lakes, ponds, and the ocean, running around in the woods, and rolling in dirt and grass, etc. I'm especially anal about not letting them get grinch feet and long nails, so I trim their feet/paws every couple of weeks and Dremel their nails as short as they can go without bleeding.

The cut she does on him is a Sporting Trim, and I like it very much. You asked what we would like to see, so I would like to see you do a sporting Trim on a golden! I subscribed, so I can keep up!

my english cream golden is the most energetic and excited dog even at 9 years. he has always been impossible to groom. his butt, tail, shoulders, chest, and feathers are all always curly and the fur on his shoulders flips upwards. i’ve never been able to get rid of these cowlicks that flip up (and i can never get him to sit still to be groomed). i’m bouta watch this and see if i can manage any of it on my big guy. i’ll update

This sweet English cream has been over groomed before her bath. Her front chest has been heavily trimmed and she has lost her naturally curly waves on her back. I do understand the differences between home and show styles. Just sad to see her loss of her English cream heritage

Most groomers, including myself use a 30/40 blade for paws. If you don't feel comfortable with that you could use a 10. Just don't dig into the paw too much.

The quicks recede over time as you do routine trimmings. Therefore, you can get a shorter nail over time without hitting the quicks.

Being a holistic show Groomer I don’t agree with washing your dog every 10 days shampooing them to much will dry out their skin. If your bathing every 10 days don’t use shampoo. Just wash them with look warm water and they will still look clean and doesn’t dry out skin.

Is it okay to use a whitening shampoo even if the dog isn’t a show dog? I love how white my english cream gets when using a very gentle whitening shampoo but was wondering if I shouldn’t do this. I only use it when his coat looks a bit yellow

I know I’m a year late lmao but this is not true. English Creams are recognized all over the world. It is mostly just the AKC that doesn’t recognize them. So creams in the US are Registered as “light goldens”
